Waiting Room Wednesday - July 26

Sorry this is late, it's been a crazy day!

***General TW that this thread might contain discussions mentioning MC and loss.***

Welcome to Waiting Room Wednesday!

You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on not TTC and connect with others who are in the same boat. TTC can be a long journey, and having to wait makes it feel even longer -- even if it is for a good reason. I invite you to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Benched = involuntarily not NTNP/TTC and "out of the game," usually due to medical reasons

TTA = avoiding pregnancy by using protection or FAM, usually for non-health-related reasons __________________________________________________________________

Are you benched or TTA?

What brings you here?

How long do you think you'll be here?

How have things been going?

Any R/R?

GTKY: What is the most impressive thing you know how to do?

Re: Waiting Room Wednesday - July 26

  • Are you benched or TTA? TTA!

What brings you here? Conversation while we wait :) You guys are lovely to talk to.

How long do you think you'll be here? We're hoping to start trying in October or November, but I'll probably stick around once we start.

How have things been going? They're okay, just busy. It's been really hot and humid here lately, and I was outside in the heat for the vast majority of my shift today. It was very frustrating, but what are you gonna do. The doctor appointment went well yesterday. I've somehow lost seventeen pounds in the last few weeks, and the doctor is doing a work up and scheduling an ultrasound to confirm if I actually have PCOS or not. She doesn't think I do, but she wants to confirm. My mom is flying back into town on Friday, so we're gonna pick her up and maybe take her for dinner. Oh, one of the positions at my job is "strollers", which is basically taking people's strollers and parking them outside of the show. You would not BELIEVE how many people ask if we take the kids, too. If they're small and cute, I joke that they'd never get them back, lol.

Any R/R? I'm just tired of the outrageous humidity. It doesn't help that the park I work in is essentially an artificial rainforest.

GTKY: What is the most impressive thing you know how to do? I can make sculptures out of sugar (literally, just sugar) and chocolate, as well as tiered cakes.

  • @dreamscapes_ I wish the humidity would dial it down a notch or several. I am so jealous of your impressive thing. Making sculptures out of sugar, chocolate, and tiered cakes is awesome! (And yummy)
  • Are you benched or TTA?

    TTA until September

    What brings you here?

Just really eager to start TTC

How long do you think you'll be here?

I'll probably stick around BOTB even after we start TTC.

    How have things been going?

DS has been sleeping better at night which means less nursing, so I'm hoping I'll have a cycle again.... Eventually. I really don't want to totally wean him to conceive, but I don't want to borrow trouble before it comes, either. One step at a time.

    Any R/R?

I wish we were having sex more. I'm loving my work from home gig, but I'm waking up early and I'm tired. Have I already said all that? I'm so boring.

GTKY: What is the most impressive thing you know how to do?

I'm not sure how to answer this. I can tie a cherry stem with my tongue....?

  • @dreamscapes_ - congrats on losing 17lbs and good luck with the ultrasound! That chocolate looks mighty tasty!

Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? Chillin' and chattin'

How long do you think you'll be here? Few months, TBD...

How have things been going? Meh... unlike lalala2004, I have no desire for more sex. We have dry spells that last weeks and it's all from my end. Just not feeling great.

Any R/R?  Rant: I'm really really disliking commuting to my job downtown. It takes forever (over an hour), and with the humidity, I'm soaked by the time I get to my desk. Ugh.

GTKY: What is the most impressive thing you know how to do? I can't really think of anything. I'd say I'm more of a jack of all trades than really good at one thing. I do have two saltwater tanks (with fish and living coral) that people seem to be impressed with. But honestly, it's not hard, just expensive!!

What brings you here? Patiently waiting

How long do you think you'll be here? Until Sept

How have things been going?  **Possible TW** So the last week or so I was 95% sure I was KU, then yesterday got AF.  I'm both upset and relieved at the same time.  It would have been too soon, but we were super happy at the idea.  We played with fire during what is supposed to be my fertile window (I only keep track of my periods, use an ovulation calculator, then we avoid anything dangerous a few days before and after the fertile window.  I've never temped).  Last Wed, Thurs, and Fri I had what I can only describe as morning sickness. I was emotional, clumsy, super sensitive to smells, and gagging all over the place.  I've never in my life experienced PMS like that before.  I had a good cry last night and now looking forward to trying in Sept!  **end TW**

Any R/R? I had a great couple of days off with DD.  She's at such a fun age!

GTKY: What is the most impressive thing you know how to do?  You ladies are so talented!!!  I can't think of anything impressive that I know how to do!

@KFrob - Did you actually turn a test? AF symptoms and pregnancy symptoms are very similar, and you can have new/different symptoms before AF that you've never experienced before. Take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, but it sounds like you're trying to say you had a loss based purely on symptoms, which is really insensitive.

  • @KFrob PMS symptoms change over time, I've found that mine are getting worse as I get older. That being said, did you take a test? Was AF super late?

@izza2 and @ChloandCoco I took 7 tests I believe over the week. All negative. AF was two days earlier than I thought it would arrive.  Definitely not a loss. But very bizarre and google has me worried about things like cysts and tumors.

Sorry if I was insensitive, just venting that it really messed with my head

    Edit Added more
  • @KFrob Oh, that really sucks.  I've been there, with all kinds of weird new symptoms that seem like they can only be due to pregnancy, but then it turns out I'm definitely not pregnant and my body is just screwing with me.  TTC (or waiting to TTC) is hard enough without getting your hopes up extra high.
  • @kfrob, isn't symptom spotting fun? ;) This last cycle I had cramps, nausea, and even high temps. AF came right on time. I googled the most random things though and everything came back with "OMG! That happened when I got my BFP" as well as "Yep, happens every cycle before AF". When I got pregnant with DS, I had nothing! I was convinced I was out because I DIDN'T have symptoms. It's such a crazy time! I'm sorry you had a rough time though.  September isn't too far away!

@JNCPro3130  I was the same way when pregnant with DD.  Except for a very random vomit incident I felt nothing.  I should have known better!  I keep telling myself that Sept is so close.

@secretstapler It very much feels like my body is screwing with me.  Like it can't be trusted...
  • @Kfrob I see your symptom spotting and raise mine: I will feel phantom kicks and think for a second that I'm somehow already in my second trimester despite not having had unprotected sex at any time in the past year. If I kept HPTs at home I totally would have peed on one or 7 by now, even through we are still TTA. When we really start TTC I'm not sure what crazy things I'll do.....

  • @maureenmce YAY for starting earlier!! September is only a couple months away!
  • @maureenmce. Hooray!!! That's so exciting!!!

@lalala2004 Ha, I feel phantom kicks at least once a week.  I did actually pee on a stick for them once, even though I still had my iud in and I had a negative test less than a month before, so even if I was pregnant, there's no way I'd be feeling kicks.
  • @maureenmce - Yay!! I'm glad your time line got moved up! So exciting!

  • @maureenmce, yay! It sounds like we're going to have a few people coming to the WTO/TWW in September!

  • @kimberbeep Thanks, I guess! The weight loss was unintentional, but we'll see what happens. I think I'm going to need another new belt at work (I already replaced one, and am on the last hole on this belt now). If you don't mind my asking, do you know what's causing the lack of drive? I hope the humidity breaks by you so that you can have a comfortable commute! Your saltwater tanks sound awesome! My DH wants one, but we aren't allowed to have fish tanks in our apartment >.<

@KFrob Symptom spotting sucks so much. I'm sorry your PMS was acting crazy this month, but I am also so so happy that you had some wonderful time with your DD!

@maureenmce Yay for moving up your timeline!Good luck with your pre-baby goals! I'm sure you'll do awesome :D

We're still aiming for October. DH has been kicking around the idea of November (the usual "what if's"), but I honestly think we'll be fine. He actually went to the doctor today because he's been really sick in a strange way over the last few days. I thought it was just a bad allergy attack (his body is still acclimating to the pollen and plant life down here), but it turns out that it was an attack that was SO bad that it actually turned into a sinus infection. So he has a Z-pak, a nasal spray, and has to take Claritin. He's not thrilled, but that's life. My new muscle relaxer makes me incredibly sleepy, so I can only take it if I'm going to be at home, and it also gives me really bad dry mouth. Apparently it also makes me chatty, because I can't seem to stop typing.

Also, this job is going to be the death of me. The show that we have in the tree can be scary for some kids (giant bugs on the screen, huge animatronics in the theater), and we tell people multiple times before the show starts that the show can be scary. We also say that if you need to leave during the show, you can. Some parents choose not to take that option, and it just makes my heart hurt. I can explain if anyone wants me to, I'm just not sure if anyone wants to know that story.

  • @dreamscapes_ I think I remember that ride from when we went like 20 years ago.  I remember it freaking me out a bit, and I was like 13.  Did something awful happen?  Or just parents without enough sympathy for their kids?
  • @Secretstapler This family with an infant (I think he was about a year old, since he was walking, but not talking) was sitting right in the very front, by one of the giant animatronics that pops up in the middle of the show. I was positioned on that side of the theater, since part of our job is to watch the animatronics to make sure they're functioning properly. He was already scared, since it was dark, and then the bugs showed up and he started crying his little head off. Then the big animatronic came out (literally only about eight feet away from them) and he just started shrieking. I could see his face and he was absolutely terrified. His dad kept looking at me like I was going to make them leave, but we can't, it's their choice. It just broke my heart to see that little boy so scared.

  • @dreamscapes_ That's awful!  What parent thinks that is a good idea?  My husband works on a haunted house every year, and he's seen parents bring tiny kids through, too.  Most of the time they end up carrying them and hiding their faces while they move as fast as they can.  I try so hard not to judge other people's parenting decisions, but sometimes it's just too much.
  • @Secretstapler I honestly don't know. They did finally leave with him, but during the finale. It just hurt my heart to see his face when Hopper showed up :( My DH and I have agreed that we're not taking any kids we may have on that until they're big enough to understand that it's not real and that they're safe.

  • @dreamscapes_ - Poor kid! Initially my lease stated no fish tanks, but I asked and ended up getting the ok on TWO tanks!! But I did rent from some people that just owned a few buildings, not like a real estate company, so they were probably more lenient than some places. Still not sure what's the root cause of my lack of sex drive. But then this past weekend we banged two days in a row... *shrug*
  • @kimberbeep Yeah, ours is a real estate company that owns a lot of complexes throughout the state. They're pretty strict about some things. Yay for HIO, though!
