My advice: don't forget you already took one and take another one 5 minutes laters...on an empty stomach...and then have coffee.
I ended up in the Urgent Care with such bad heartburn and chest pressure that I thought I was actually having a heart attack. Maalox and Nexium to the rescue, and I'm feeling much better. It really freaked me out. And THEN I remembered that I accidentally took two vitamins this morning and that sometimes one causes heartburn.
I'm going to set an alarm from now on so I don't do this again!

I once took an iron supplement on an empty stomach, and had the sensation you're describing. It was most definitely concerning, and it took me about 20 minutes to figure out it was because of the iron tabs. Funny enough about 87% of chest pain that ends up in the emergency department isn't "cardiac" (AKA a heart attack). A huge number of people every year go to the ER with what amounts to really bad reflux/heartburn/etc. You're not alone.
