Last week - went well, heard heartbeats on both babies

    How are you feeling?
Good - for the most part, having some lower back / sciatic nerve pain and some RLP (I think...)

What rants/raves/questions/advice? None really - ready to see the babies again... sad I have to wait until August 15th... that seems SO FAR AWAAAAAAAAAY - I'm hoping since I switched OBs they will do an u/s on August 8th!

QOTW: What is your guilty pleasure tv show and/or movie? Big Brother - I cant help it! Also, I love cheesy/teenagey romcoms. :)

We had out NT scan on Monday. One baby was awesome and cooperated. The other didn't, and the tech couldn't get any measurements. She said that the only clear shot she could really get was the money shot of his genital area, and of course, the uncooperative one is the boy! The girl is the nice one, and the boy is going to take after my husband. Greeeeat.
I get to go back on Tuesday 7/25 to see if they can measure him.

    How are you feeling?
Knock on wood, not that bad this week. I've been having a lot of good/decent days with not that much nausea, and my appetite is sloooooowly returning! The bad days are still pretty bad, and headaches have started in the past week or so. My OB gave me permission to have an extra cup of caffeine to help combat the headaches...yay coffee and tea!

    What rants/raves/questions/advice?
Baby showers - what is everyone's plan for those? My OB and everything i see online says to have a baby shower (when you're pregnant with multiples) earlier than normal since after 32-ish weeks, all is fair game with the babies coming. My mom is wanting to schedule it for 25 weeks in early-mid October, which i feel is SO early, but the practical side of me thinks this is a good idea...

QOTW: What is your guilty pleasure tv show and/or movie?
I really like that show "Ancient Aliens"...lol. I love history, but i love watching this show and laughing at how ridiculous some of their theories and claims are! I also DVR too many shows and always have a hard time catching up! For movies, I'm sold on anything with Chris Pine, cause he's yummy!

@caseyw8784 we are going to have my shower on October 8th - i'll be just over 27 wks... based on everything I've read earlier is better.  I'd even be okay with it being a few weeks before but my sister is also pregnant with a singleton (EDD is 1 wk after me) and we are having a joint shower because it's just easier (we have a large family and a lot of the same friends b/c we went to college together and were in the same sorority - the majority of our friends live here and she & her DH moved away last fall)...she was flipping out about it being "so early" so I told her if she didn't want it then, she could have her own... so needless to say, its on the 8th lol.
  • @Mudge85 - that's the weekend my mom wants to have it, too!
  • Hey y'all!

I'm 16 and 1, with mo/di twin girls.I just had an ultrasound today with the MFM, measuring fluids, and everything looks good.  The anatomy scan is in two weeks.

My nausea is letting up a little, especially in the mornings.  It's nice to feel somewhat human.  But my belly already feels big, and I know it will get so much bigger!  I've been having some headaches-- a cup of tea and food help.  Also, my feet look like potatoes, and I had to take off my wedding ring (my hand feels naked).  I'm getting big all over.

@caseyw8784 and @Mudge85  I'm having my shower on Oct 7!  I asked my doctor if she thought I'd still be able to work the first couple weeks of October, and she laughed at me.  So, I didn't think we could go much later than that.

We want to invite a bunch of people because we want to celebrate with everyone who might want to come, but we don't want to be grubbing for gifts.  Is it possible to suggest that it's okay for people to come without a gift?  Or just to make sure there are a lot of inexpensive gifts on the registry?
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

  • @KLake42 I had to take my wedding rings off, too - if I'm inside I can wear them sometimes but the getting big + the heat - it's just easier not to wear them. I have them on a necklace chain right now - esp because we STILL have people in our house working on our master bath (yes the 15 day project is now on week 5... ugggggggh)

As for the shower - invite everyone - but maybe word it somehow on the invite that diapers or gift cards are welcome? so people don't feel like they have to buy something major? You can also do it with a lot of inexpensive things on the registry.. However, I've been to a shower where there were quite a few expensive things and a bunch of us coworkers went in on a major gift together - we all threw in $40-50 and got them the stroller they wanted... so people might just do that on their own.

  • How far along are you? 14 weeks with mo/di twins

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? I finally got my appointment with MFM. It took a week for technology to talk and to get the fax over but my first appointment with them isn't until 8/2. Should I be concerned they don't want to look until then??

How are you feeling? Blah , can't wait to get some energy back! I have been so busy at work that I'm running a million miles a minute

What rants/raves/questions/advice?  Just if seeing MFM at 16 weeks is normal or if I should push for sooner . I assume they know what they are doing

QOTW: What is your guilty pleasure tv show and/or movie? Teen mom haha , makes me feel good about my self and parenting skills
  • My ring is starting to feel tight too which is weird !! With DD I never had to take it off . And yes I feel huge too! Way bigger then I ever did with DD , but I'm not sure what I expect since it's double trouble ! DH and I wanted to be team green but with so many ultra sounds I'm not sure of that is possible at this point . Anyone else going team green or know someone who has with twins?

@ecolton01- I think it's normal.  Protocol with mo/di twins is to start monitoring at 16 weeks, and to continue every two weeks.  I believe that 16 weeks is the earliest that you can do anything about TTTS.

I only met with mine sooner because my ob/gyn wanted me to get my NT scan done with them.  Of course, the babies didn't cooperate and get in position, so that was bust!  They measured the heartbeats, confirmed that they saw the membrane, and that was it.  16 weeks was my 2nd appointment (this week) and they measured fluids (amniotic, stomachs, and bladders), and I get my anatomy scan at 18 weeks.  The bigger the babies get, the more stuff they can measure, to confirm that there isn't a too-significant size disparity.  Everything looks even so far for me.

I'm glad I'll be able to see the babies so often.  Every time, they look more like little people (and less like sea monkeys!)

edited to add-- I did see a pretty close-up view of a butt and legs this last visit.  If I didn't already know they were girls, I would have seen enough to suspect it!

  • @klake42 thanks so much for the answer!! Makes me feel better :) glad yours are looking good!! It is kind of neat we get to see them so much . With DD i only had my 8 week ultra sound and out 20 week anatomy scan so it will be cool to get to see them grow
  • How far along are you? 15weeks, 4 days

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? Nope, we went to UltraSona and found out we're having two beautiful girls :)

How are you feeling? Elated, nervous, anxious. Lots and Lots of heartburn.

What rants/raves/questions/advice? My DH and I are no where NEAR with the names, especially now since we know. UGH.
