Re: July FET

  • @Ash_SE A therapist would be great to talk to, sometimes it can be really nice to let everything out to someone you know won't judge you and will just listen to what you have to say and help.

@roadtobaby I hope tomorrow's beta goes well and keeps on rising!

  • @cscher2 that is exciting for twins! I'm waiting on my transfer now. My RE said their clinic was told no more 2 embryo transfers because the twin rate was over 40% for my age group and that I'm the last patient he gets to do it to since we'd already signed our paperwork. Glad we got to sneak in before the cutoff.
  • @MMD1986 Good luck with your transfer!! My doctor usually recommends 1 for my age (under 30) but since this was my 6th transfer he said he would recommend 2 due to potential implantation issues. Finger crossed for an easy TWW.
  • Ash_SEAsh_SE member
@cscher2 what didn't you different for this transfer ?
  • @Ash_SE we didn't use my eggs this time around. I'm young but given the results from multiple retrievals (including PGS testing) we felt that there was something with either the egg or sperm to create so many abnormals and to have all of my normals not stick. It was definitly our last resort and very hard to accept but in the end we wanted children no matter how they came to us.
  • Hi ladies, so ours ended in a chemical. I think it hasn't kicked in yet or I'm still shut down.
  • Im very sorry to hear that @roadtobaby! Be kind to yourself the next few days.
  • @Hopeful_mom It is frustrating when we have to put on brave faces for our DHs just because we don't want them to get upset or want to give up on the process.  Ugh, that is also difficult about your friend and running into her DH... You're right, it should be that easy.  I wish it was!  I have read that thread you mentioned not my first ivf rodeo, but it's been going on so long (I can remember first reading it in the fall), I haven't been able to keep up with it.  Thank you for the encouraging story... I just don't know what to do/think anymore.  Do we really just need to keep at it and we will get lucky with at least one of our remainders?  Or do we need to pursue other options?  I guess I just have to first talk with my RE, hopefully next week about what she thinks.  I mean, that's what we pay her for... She should be able to tell us what to do next.  I would feel better knowing we at least tried SOMETHING else before doing another transfer... Whether it's testing the embryos, immune testing, or ERA.

Congrats again on great numbers @cscher2 and twins?!  I really commend you for moving forward and using donor eggs... That is a very difficult decision.  I don't know what we will do if we end up being told that we need to use donor eggs... What makes them decide to use donor eggs over donor sperm?  I always wondered that... I think that as of right now, DH and I feel very strongly that we want our children to be a mixture of each of us... If we can't get PG using our own eggs and sperm, then we might not decide to pursue things further.  Of course, that may change down the road.  It's just where our heads are right now.  If we keep having disappointments, I may change my thoughts on it for us.

@MMD1986 I hope everything went well for you today!

@slmurphy12 I'm glad everything went well!

@roadtobaby I'm so sorry... I completely understand what you're going through.  We are all here for you.

@Ash_SE I'm glad you are starting to feel at least a little...  I won't use the word better, but I guess ok?  I agree... Sometimes it's just easier to stop the meds and start moving on, than clinging to what feels like hopeless hope (because you know in your gut what's really going on).  I'm glad you think you've found someone you can go talk to.  Were your results still negative today?

AFM, I am doing a little better I suppose.  Yesterday was mine and DH's 8th wedding anniversary.  We spent it on the beach... His friend and his friend's gf are down here too with her family so we hung with them all day.  We drank alot and played Kan Jam.  Then DH and I went to our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner... and drank some more.  Haha.  I think once I got my drinking mojo back, I started to feel a little better.  However, as she always does, AF decided to show up last night and make me miserable.  I was up throughout the night handling that mess and cramps.  Then today when we went to the beach again, I swear I was having to... TMI alert... change my tampon every 1 - 2 hours!  It was so annoying.  My first day is always so unpredictable and out of control.  In the fall when our FET failed, I swear I didn't get a period for like 2 weeks after I stopped meds.  I thought oh I'll be good to get through this vaca... Wrong!  I just stopped them 5 days ago and bam!  And it's not even like I was soaking through the tampon... TMI alert again... It was the whitish purplish clots that kept passing through.  I'm thinking oh, are you our embryo?  Or are you?  Ugh!  It's all stressful when you're trying to have fun on the beach in a bathing suit and playing beach games with people you don't really know that well.  I had to rush up to use their bathroom once because of leakage!  Not to mention the cramps and bloating.  I just finished another round of the YI meds too!  What a debacle.  No romantical relations for DH and I on this vacation haha.  He keeps telling me what a mess I am below the waist haha.  No kidding!

Anyhoo, I just wanted to do a quick check in with you all before I headed to bed... We have another two days at the beach and are then headed home.  I think I'm ready to go back already haha.  Not that I don't want to go to the beach again, I do... But between the CP, the emotions, and now AF... I miss our home and I miss our bed haha.

@MMD1986 - Congrats on being done with your transfer! Hope that embry is getting nice and comfy

AFM- Waiting on my transfer today. Going in at 2:00. I'm excited but also nervous, not for the procedure but for the results. I also have a little bit of a headache and I'm worried I might be catching a cold from some people who are sick at work, I don't have any nasal congestion though so I'm hoping I'll be ok and it won't affect the transfer

mtele good luck today hope everything goes smoothly for you!  sending u super sticky vibes! MMD1986 sending you the super sticky vibes as well!  hope you're feeling great and your beans are getting all comfy cozy in there!

cscher2I admire your decision especially at such a young age as I'm still here fighting for my normies!!  TW Maybe because I was pregnant with twins and know I had a normie in there that I'm hoping I'll have better success the next time around, so close to being done with the first tri. so its still so frustrating for me as we have no answers to the big WHY it happened!  When's your next US?

joneser1281 oh dear lord!!  The river runs through it huh ugh!!!  :s I hate when my AF is so freaking heavy and painful on a beach yet too, hell no!  You're a better trooper then I!  I'd be drinking alcohol for water at this point!  My cramps have always been so bad my RE originally thought I might have endo, but nope, just bad luck on that too - yay me!  Happy anniversary, sorry its not what it should be...I can hope next year will be more special for the both of you!
I'm interested to hear what your RE might say.  I can't remember if your OOP or have some insurance.  You might be right with your first round not being a great batch.  Theres an ERA thread too, one girl on there has been transferring normies and still not having success so thats why she is having that test, might be worth jumping in on that one....you know it certainly doesn't sound like a pleasant test.  I asked my RE about that one too....I'm just terrified of going through what I went through again...so I'm trying to make sure we've checked everything we can...but the fact that I was pregnant till about 10wks she doesn't think I have an implantation issue.  I'd like to think its because you didn't get to your normie :)  Its such a tough call for sure.  You're technically still young enough that you should be making normal embryos.  The cycle I had the most eggs at ER is the first cycle I didn't and that freaks me out.  My OH has kids and they always say its ME not him but sometimes I do wonder...UGH MTHFK'ng IF!!  I'll say it for u today ;)  Hope you're enjoying ur time!

Editing as i just got an update i thought to share...

I was wondering about my other embaby in waiting and I just found out that it "survived nicely" (to go out for testing) ahhhhh how great if that could be a normie for me :)  At least it made it through one hurdle right!

Home from transfer and watching lots of Modern Family for giggles! I will say I was laughing pretty hard when DH put on that blue bunny suit to go back with me! Everything went pretty smoothly, now it's just the waiting game to get results in a few weeks. I already can't help but wonder how that little embryo is doing in there. Thanks for the well wishes!

Congrats to @slmurphy12, @MMD1986, and @mtele, for being PUPO!

@cscher2- Congrats on twins!  So exciting :)

@Prudence9- Maybe we do go to the same clinic ;)  How was your baseline appointment?

@joneser1281- I'm sorry that AF showed up on your vacation.  Now that I remember, I think it did on my vacation, too.  My MIL is now living with us. After reading that many of were on bed rest after transfer, I thought about doing the same but I don't think I will now! I think working might be less stressful (my work is not physically demanding). And my workplace is chaotic and definitely is not the best time to be taking any time off anyway...

@Hopeful_mom- Yay for your embryo!  I'm glad it survived the thawing process.  I'm praying that your embryo is a normie, and the gender that you want!

    @roadtobaby- I'm sorry.

    @Ash_SE- I'm glad that you're feeling a little better.

AFM- I'm done with lupron and have had PIO injections for three days now. My transfer is scheduled for Monday, though I have no idea what time it will be... yet.

PIO injections.  Oh man.  The first two injections (1 mL) were done at the clinic, and the third one (2 mL!!!) I did it myself.  Initially I was going to go with the IVF injection service ($125 a pop) since the very first injection had to be done at 8 pm.  That got changed to 10 am when I decided to transfer a different embryo.  The clinic told me that I can always just come in to get the shot done, so I thought, why not? (I know @joneser1281... I'm a wimp)  The second shot was done by this new nurse... I don't know if that had anything to do with that or the location of the shot, but I was in severe pain a few hours later!  I walked like I dislocated my hips and was wincing the whole drive home! I was seriously contemplating giving up FET.  ER was nowhere near as bad as this, and I retrieved 15-22 eggs each time! Total MTHFR!  Today was day 3 of PIO injections and since I was still hobbling I didn't want to go anywhere (was my day off work anyway) and that meant that I had to do the shot myself. @joneser1281- You'll be proud of me. I did a 2 ml injection, and it didn't even hurt! I don't know if that's because I used the Shot Blocker or what, but I didn't even feel the needle going in! I massaged my butt really well with a heat pad, and now it's not even cramping that badly.

  • Hi ladies.  So my beta was on Friday and it was negative.  Such a sad day.  I'm really at a loss to understand what happened, as the embryo was PGS normal, my lining was 12 mm and I was treating my blood-clotting issues.  We plan to try again, but I really need some advice on what to do differently (i..e, change REs?) or maybe it really is just a numbers game and just plain "bad luck".  Also, even though my embryo was PGS normal, maybe my age has an effect? I'd love any insight......

@angelbea I am so sorry about your negative beta. It's heartbreaking especially when you think it has to work since they were PGS tested. I transferred 5 PGS normals as a lot of times it is a numbers game but when 5 didn't work, that's when we moved on to donor.  How many times have you transferred with this RE and do you like him?  If you don't really care for your RE, then get another opinion but if this is your first transfer, definitely try again.

As a side note, I also started treating my clotting disorder with my first PGS transfer.
  • Thank you cscher2.  This was my first transfer with my RE, and I do like him, and following my first ER, he adjusted my protocol for my 2nd ER which resulted in 13 mature eggs and 4 blasts, which at my age seemed to be more than I could hope for, statistically-speaking  My gut is that it might just be an embryo issue, as there could have been other non-chromosonal issues with it? Hopefully, future cycles will produce better embryos, but considering my age, I understand the odds are not in my favor.  My DH thinks it's just a numbers game and we should just try again with our current RE.

  • @angelbea- I'm so sorry.  I was always told by REs that PGS-screened normals have higher rates of implantation and that the maternal age isn't a factor when it comes to implantation.  That was based on a data that showed when using donor egg-derived embryos, women in the 40s have similar pregnancy/live-birth rates as younger recipients, I think.  But that said, PGS-normal implantation rates are never 100%, so maybe there is a problem that interferes with implantation for some of us.  I hope that you figured out the cause of it soon.  I know that some people did ERA testing to figure out the optimal transplantation time and maybe that might help.  I don't know.  I hope your RE can shed some light on this matter.

  • @angelbea  Thank you! Hopefully I'll have great news to share.  I'm trying not to get ahead of myself considering I've been happy before only to get awful news.  We are just taking things one day at a time.

Sorry, I have a newbie question...The bottom part of each post where your info is displayed...is that the signature? Im trying to figure out how to get my info on there.

  • slmurphy12 sorry for the negative but I echo what the others have said its still early so hang in there!  sore boobs and cramping on and off is still a regular sign!

@dreamcometrue2017- welcome!  Funny you ask about your siggy=signature ;)  I was just going to ask you if this is your first transfer and how many you transferred, pgs tested or not.  regardless lets hope its working!  Congrats on the bfp, excited for your beta!

@cashewchicken  you need to have more faith in yourself!  Sounds like you did a better job with the shots then the nurse did, u go girl!!  You changed embryos your transferring??  whats that about?  You're so close thats so exciting!!!  Do you have to go back in at all tomorrow or just on monday for transfer?  so close to PUPO!!!! :)

@angelbea- Sorry the beta was negative but I'm glad you're not giving up and moving on.  I wish I had advice to give as I find i'm still searching for some myself!  Its hard when you make a pgs normal as you want to go with the same protocol in hopes of having the same outcome.  As you know I've been so torn with my FET and banking.  Since there are no grantees I just want to have a few options as i'm not 41 as well.  I asked about the ERA testing but since I did get a BFP she doesn't think thats my problem, do I agree not sure.  Theres a thread not too far back on here on ERA that might give you more insight.  I would first suggest getting another cycle of IVF under your belt to get ur eggs out now.  At 39 I'm angry for wasting so many months and cycles on IUIs when I could potentially had more normals...paying OOP we were hoping for the best stupidly.  What were your AMH and FSH?  I will say some ladies that have low AMH did EPP, and that seemed to give them better success.  I would ask your RE his/her thoughts on that as well.  When is your follow up?

  • Hopeful_Mom:  Thank you so much.  About a year ago, my AMH was 1.18 and my FSH was around 5 (I think).  I think those might be low-normal?  I don't think I have DOR because I do seem to produce a large number of eggs for my age (19 for the first ER and 16 for the 2nd).   My RE is on vacation, so I will have my follow up sometime after August 7.  Will be good to take a few weeks off to take a break from thinking about it, actually.  I was pretty meticulous about trying to do everything "by the book" this last time around (i.e., spent a fortune on acupuncture, took supplements, ate well, exercised (but didn't overdo it), cut down/out caffeine and alcohol, took all shots at the exact time, did 3 days strict bed rest, etc.), so I plan to be a little more relaxed next time. I think banking is probably the right things to do, but not sure my RE offers that.  He offers "shared risk packages", where you buy 1-3 cycles (ER & FET) but you do the FET if/when you get a normal embie to transfer.  For example, if the 1st transfer works (i.e., you get a THB), you don't get to do anymore cycles, even if you paid for 2 or 3 cycles.  I had a 2 package deal this time around.  Thinking of doing the same or even the 3 cycle package, but right now, I can't even wrap my head around doing this all over again.  Looking forward to my vacation at the beach this week for sure.....

  • angelbea you know what you're numbers are great congrats, your insides are a bit younger then your age...quite a bit I would think which is FANTASTIC!!  Thats a great thing!  You really did have great numbers and i know thats a bit disheartening!  I'm glad you have pkg deals but there should certainly be one for banking OR waiting on the FET!!  I know I"m being greedy saying in hopes of having 2 children BUT its a lot to go back and fourth I think...coming from the girl that did 4 IVF cycles back to back...I know its hard to think about doing it all over again!  *TW* Sounds like you did everything right which is frustrating too, I feel like I tried to do the same and I think after my MC I kind of put that out the window a lil...AND After my cycle of all abnormal I was more pissed too.  *TW I gained so much weight through this process that I guess i'm not doing as well as I thought with trying to eat healthier who know....all the drugs haven't helped in that dept.  I think the break will do you good and help you re-energize to get right back into it!  You did everything right that you could so I hope you don't beat yourself up AND I hope you can be more relaxed next cycle!
I find I get the most stressed during stemming when I'm obsessed with the size and how many etc.  I'm hoping you'll your body will respond just as nicely and give you a few more normies to work with!
