  • 1. What healthy habit are you working on? What is one thing you can do to set you up for success this week?
Adding more veggies to my weekly meals and walking

    2. How is it going?
I am aiming for 3 days a week and so far i have 1 day under my belt and worked out pretty good

    3. What is a small win from last week?
I was able to scrub my floors and house. I have been sick most of the 1st trimester so being able to scrub felt good

    4. GTKY: If you had to choose, would you rather give up vegetables or fruit for the rest of your life? What about cheese or chocolate
Easy good bye veggies and cheese. All i have been craving is chocolate and fruit anyways. Plus the only time i can enjoy dairy is apparently when prego bc i am lactose an tolerant but have no problems with it with baby. I have a huge bag of whiye chocolate in fridge along with a bag of apples and went through a gallon of oj in 3 days

  •  1. What healthy habit are you working on? What is one thing you can do to set you up for success this week? limited to no caffeine and working out 3x/week. Also adding

    2. How is it going? good! Still struggling with getting all 3 workouts in.

    3. What is a small win from last week? it's so much easier to eat fresh foods in the summer! We did really well with that, and I only had 1 32oz pop.

    4. GTKY: If you had to choose, would you rather give up vegetables or fruit for the rest of your life? What about cheese or chocolate? this questiob is just mean @libbberty! I think I'd have to choose to give up veggies, do I have to choose between cheese and chocolate?? I guess I'd go with cheese. I need chocolate in my life.
  • 1. What healthy habit are you working on? What is one thing you can do to set you up for success this week?
Workouts. I'm aiming for 1-2 classes on ClassPass and aiming for 10k steps all other days. Also, trying to eat fresh fruits and veggies more frequently, but haven't articulated it into a goal yet.

    2. How is it going?
Okay! I went for a walk with a friend tonight even though I really didn't want to. I need to reel in my eating though. I have definitely gained weight already. I should probably be grateful for the article on macaroni and cheese (the phthalates article in the NY Times) because it will help me limit my obsession with Annie's.

    3. What is a small win from last week?
14,000 steps three days and a barre class. I was sore for three days! I missed classes during the first trimester, but it's also discouraging for me to not be able to push it like I used to, so I'm proud I got my butt back in there.

    4. GTKY: If you had to choose, would you rather give up vegetables or fruit for the rest of your life? What about cheese or chocolate? I'd give up fruit. I love veggies SO much. And the cheese vs chocolate is almost impossible to answer! @schaze I can only blame myself, I guess. I think I would give up chocolate. I just love pizza, Mac and cheese, and enchiladas so much.

@schaze a good fountain soda is BOMB. Why do the non-caffeinated drinks just not taste as good as the caffeinated ones?
  • 1. What healthy habit are you working on? What is one thing you can do to set you up for success this week?
    Exercise 4x/week and no dessert

    2. How is it going?
Exercise, terrible! I was on such a good streak, I have got to get going again!
Desserts, pretty good! I cheated over the weekend bc it was my son's bday but I think that's only fair. ;)

    3. What is a small win from last week?
    I walked once, lol!

    4. GTKY: If you had to choose, would you rather give up vegetables or fruit for the rest of your life? What about cheese or chocolate?
Fruit>veggies and I *think* cheese>chocolate. I loooove me some cheese! However, I did go dairy free for 6 months or so last winter and honestly after a while I didn't even miss it.
  • 1. What healthy habit are you working on? What is one thing you can do to set you up for success this week? I am working on keeping up my running. I’m athletic and run marathons and don’t want to get too out of shape… stayed active throughout my last pregnancy and hoping I can now too!

    2. How is it going? Not bad! I have some bad days (especially when we were moving), but I’ve been getting in 3 7 mile runs a week and one or two shorter ones. It’s a lot easier for me to do it in the summer though because I have time at work to go.

    3. What is a small win from last week? I was so so tired on Sunday but made myself go runon the treadmill. I did not do my long run, but I managed 4 miles and was glad I did. As always, it gave me more energy!

    4. GTKY: If you had to choose, would you rather give up vegetables or fruit for the rest of your life? What about cheese or chocolate? OMG… I’m a vegan so I might die without vegetables or fruit. I guess I would have to say fruit though because I literally NEED vegetables to get my nutrients. Second is easy! Since I’m a vegan, I haven’t had cheese for 25 years! I can still have lots of good dark chocolate, and I’d like to keep it!

@Graceupongrace09 NO dessert?!? I don't know if I could do that! Hilariously, when I was pregnant with DD, I had to have dessert ALL the time and had maintained that habit since she was born... but this pregnancy I have ZERO dessert/sweet cravings, but I am still forcing myself to eat dessert lol.

  • 1. What healthy habit are you working on? What is one thing you can do to set you up for success this week?
Working on eating better and getting to the gym 3 times a week.

    2. How is it going?
It's going. Eating is still I little hit or miss. I'm definitely getting in a lot of protein and veggies but I'm having a SERIOUSLY hard time saying no to sweets.

With exerting it is going pretty well. I was able to get in 2 runs and several walks last week. I find my hip flexers are killing me after running. Is that happening to you too @EmilyLove25?

    3. What is a small win from last week?
I came in 3rd on a fitbit weekend warrior challenge (out of 7) but hey I'll take it, got in just under 19,000 steps over the weekend.

    4. GTKY: If you had to choose, would you rather give up vegetables or fruit for the rest of your life? What about cheese or chocolate?
I would give up all fruit but apples easily and I won't ever give up cheese. Fondue is where it is at!
  • @EmilyLove25 I have terrible self-control and it's easier for me to say no than to try to eat limited amounts. :D I was try to lose about 10lbs before I got my BFP and that was one of my self-made rules so I just kept going with it. I craved sweets so bad with DS, I'm sure it's coming. At least this way, I started off on a good foot. ;) Not sure how much longer I'll stick with it.
  • @EmilyLove25 do you use any vegan cheese substitutes? If yes, what would you recommend as a starting point for us dairy lovers out there? Would love to try something endorsed by someone else!

@burnsmommy27 No, thankfully that is not happening to me yet. I wonder if any kind of stretching and avoiding downhills would help?

@libbberty Yes! I do! First, Daiya is the best brand out there in terms of mimics real cheese. The shredded cheddar and mozzarella are the best. You can make nachos/lasagna etc. with it and it works. Having said that, my husband says it does not taste like real cheese—but for a dish where it is part of it, I think it works. Second, for cooking, I’ve had a lot of success using pureed cashews etc. (in a food processor). Usually you use raw cashews and soak them over night… which leads me to the next part: for taste and the actual love of cheese, nut chesses are by far the best (the good ones are pricey though!).

This brand is pretty good: https://www.treelinecheese.com/

I’ve only tried one flavor so far, but it is yummy (again, pricey though!).

  • 1. What healthy habit are you working on? What is one thing you can do to set you up for success this week?
I am trying to get some more protein in my diet. I forgot to ask my OB/GYN whether its ok to have a protein shake occasionally, so I'm holding out for now. I used to really enjoy them, especially after working out.

    2. How is it going?
It's going ok. My lunches so far have been carb heavy, but other than that I think I did alright. Needing fiber rich foods to counteract the side effect from taking iron was helpful, though.

    3. What is a small win from last week?
I finally cleaned out my car. It had still been sitting around all messy from my busy work season, because I didn't have the energy. But I did it and now I just have to clean out one bag that I left in last night because I didn't have a hand free. I'll just clear it out next time I use it (or I'll walk out specifically to do that, but it's so hot outside LOL

    4. GTKY: If you had to choose, would you rather give up vegetables or fruit for the rest of your life? What about cheese or chocolate?
Well, the first one is easy. I'd give up fruit. It's easy for me because so far every type or fruit that I like I am allergic to. It's been so bad that I don't even try new fruits anymore. But cheese or chocolate, oh man! I love both, but cheese here is just way too expensive, so I'll stick with chocolate and give up cheese, I guess? Tough decision, though!

  • @EmilyLove25 thank you for the tips. I've made cashew cream once in my life (to make vegan Alfredo sauce) and it went okay, but man, it feels like a lot of work. I am definitely going to give Daiya a shot! Always up for trying something new.
