Help! Need a polite message for the baby registry.

So I have been working away on my registry items but then I started to think about the message.  At first I went with one of the options from the drop down menu "Gift cards are appreciated" but then started thinking it might come off as a little rude?  I started writing a new one... "Thank you so much for visiting our baby registry. We sincerely appreciate all the love and support we have received since sharing our happy news." and then I'm drawing a blank... do I just leave it at that, or should I mention about gift cards? I feel like some people feel like a gift card isn't a "good" gift, but it would be awesome to get some and use them towards a bigger ticket item.  Thoughts?

  • It depends on where you're registering but I know that at Target you can make gift cards an option to purchase as part of the registry. Most people who want to go that route will. And then just put the things you really want on the registry. I wouldn't worry too much about wording. And even if they get smaller items, that means the money you would have spent on those can go towards a bigger item.

  • I think the wording is perfect. We put something along the lines that we are overjoyed with this pregnancy and love all the support we have gotten so far. That we can't wait to see how much everyone loves baby when he's here. There was a button on the registry that asked if gift cards were acceptable so I checked it and it says it after the wording that we want them.
  • I do not think that is rude and the way you wrote the message doesn't seem rude at all. There are so many great gift card options and people like doing that than buying an actual gift. I agree with @SeekingSmall
with just putting the things you really want and need on the registry!
