Weekly Symptoms 7/17-7

It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

Re: Weekly Symptoms 7/17-7

  • I'm very glad my scale is broken, I don't want to know my weight. I'm a bit over self conscious about gaining weight even though I know it's completely normal and suppose to happen.
  • Loading the player...
  • Ugh I hear you @MaximumEffort. I gained 7 lbs which is normal but my goal is about 11 ish lbs given I started heavier and now I'm dreading if it's already 7lbs and I gained the most weight in trimester 3 with my first.
  • I am struggling with my right foot only swelling every afternoon and evening. It's uncomfortable and ugly. I am hydrated, I walk often and I elevate it. Nothing helps. Is anyone else dealing with this?

    Ugh. I'm sorry.
  • @dragonfly87-2
I had no swelling my whole pregnancy with my 1st and than right after I had him the top of my left foot swelled for like 2 weeks. It was really odd and nothing helped. I would ask your doctor at your next appointment or sooner if it's hurting you.
  • @dragonfly87-2 surprisingly no swelling for me yet, I had gained 70 lbs with my 1st, much of which was water. It's probably hard to do in the summer but you can try compression stockings. Swimming / baths and putting your legs up the wall to help. Sorry you are already experiencing this.

My symptoms are that I'm still so tired and I have a hard time falling asleep especially if I get woken up during the night. I'm also burpy. I hate it. I never used to burp and now it's constant. So gross. And my nipples are still super tender and sort of itchy.

Yes! (although for me it's both ankles) I had this in my ninth month only with DD, and now I started getting it when I was 4 months with this PG (doesn't help that DD was born in March and we hit summer pretty soon into our November pregnancies). What helps for me is lying down on my side in the AC in the afternoon for a little while. Literally nothing else. I drink, I do yoga and take walks on my non-yoga days, I put my feet up at my desk, they still look like cankles. I read that eating a lot of protein should help because it helps your liver process water better, or something, but I haven't really tried it.

Just thought of something - since it's in one leg only, is there a chance you have a blood clot in your leg? My dad had a slightly puffier ankle on one side only and thought it was from his ankle bothering him from running, but it turned out to be a blood clot.

  • @dragonfly87-2 My OB said the only things you can do are rest, put your feet up, drink water, and avoid salt.

  • Sciatica apparently started last night, abdominal pain if I stand for too long (made dancing hard at the wedding I went to last weekend), and what seems like a diaper rash but for adult women. I don't know if that's because I wear a thin pad every day because of all the (normal colored and smelling) discharge. Ugh, I feel gross. And itchy.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge *TW* I had something like that from the pads I had to use during my MC. Aquaphor was a miracle then. */TW*

  • Random question is RLP the same as sciatica? I've had two episodes of RLP and if that's what you ladies are dealing with on a regular basis I am so sorry. The two times I've had it I couldn't move the pain was so bad. The first time I had to get stuff ready for the day so I tried to "walk it off", OB said at my next appt yeah don't do that for RLP it actually makes it worse.
  • @maegpie RLP I feel more as a very quick (less than a minute) but very painful sharp pain if I sneeze or cough without curling up my body first, and it feels kind of like a cramp you get when you're out of shape and running, I mostly feel this in my abdominal/uterine area. Sciatica is a shooting pain in your sciatic nerve that starts in your lower back and shoots down your rear and thigh. I'm not entirely sure I have sciatica because the pain I get stops in the middle of my rear and doesn't continue further but it kind of sounds like sciatica?

  • @maegpie sciatica is a sharp pain that shoots down your butt and into your leg. It's very painful.

  • @NYTino24 I've been using hyrdocortisone cream which makes it feel better for a day or two and then it's back. I'm going to ask my OB to take a look on Thursday at my appt. I've been doing a good job not itching it but gosh it's hard. Thank goodness for flushable wipes.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge Sciatica can be a progression. It doesn't always go all the way down. Ice and make sure you do a sit-and-reach type of stretch. It's harder with a belly and I have to have DH push me forward. Finally, mine is a long term thing with periodic flares, so I have prescription orthotics. I also see the chiropractor. In fact, I'm on my way there now.

  • I have just started getting lower back pain when I stand after sitting for a bit, not shooting, just aches. Also, my feet have been crazy itchy for the last week, especially the right sole, not sure what that's all about but I hope it stops.
  • Is anyone dealing with tachycardia? I understand I should be maybe a little higher than normal but often times I don't feel well, I feel off like I'm not getting enough oxygen or that I could faint. I know that the other day I checked my pulse at work and I was 98 with only walking to the room but my oxygen level was perfectly fine, now I'm 110 just sitting here at the library. Ideas?
  • I have to add I hate telling my DH that anything feels off because he is protective and gets worried then says he doesn't know if we should ever have another. I don't remember if I told him that I've had early labor with both of my pregnancies. Granted I was a teenager for the first. He does know that I usually end up giving birth at 37 weeks but the babies are big and healthy

I don't know if that's because I wear a thin pad every day because of all the (normal colored and smelling) discharge. Ugh, I feel gross. And itchy.
Have you concidered cloth liners for this. If it's just normal all be it excessive discharge (totally normal) cloth liners may be more comphy and less irritating and no more trouble to wash than underwear.
If you aren't happy to have a little carry bag for when you change them in your bag then even going part time and wearing cloth at home may reduce the irritation .

I have found some underwear irritates my skin lately but I feel like it's more of a blood flow type of issue than moisture . Like there's more circulation and like puffing in the area than normal that makes the skin more sensation.
  • Using a special coccyx support cushion has helped my lower back pain immensely. I have one at work (which I don't go to anymore) and one at home that I have on the sofa, and put legs up on a wedge.

  • I've been struggling so hard with digestive pain. Not sure if it's trapped gas or heartburn or a little of both, but it hurts so bad.

  • I now get consistent lower back pain when I'm walking around a lot. I thought it was only my 3-4mile walks but we have been at the fair for 2.5hrs and it hurts. Makes me feel lazy to sit!

It's a huge stressor for me too. I only wanted to gain 30 and I'm at 25 already so I've stopped checking. I'm trying to focus on baby and worry about the weight in the new year.

  • @Airynn Chica our scale is broken so no worries about me checking. I went to my 24 appointment and I've gained 10 so far, I started high. DH thinks I've lost weight at least to the thighs but I don't think so, he's sweet though. I'm gonna say it's belly and boobs:)
  • Sooo uncomfortable
Just doing things i normally do .I'm so obstructed  I tend to do a lot of things sitting or on the floor with dress making and not having a large cutting table  which is really awkward now
Also in general sitting at a sewing machine for long periods gets cramped  and I'm struggling to get comfortable when I sleep .
This belly is huge and just in the way  .

Not really experiencing extremely symptoms throughout the pregnancy.
I'm still active although slowed down the extra weight and compromised abdominal muscles makes some stuff harder than others . Like getting up off the floor . Like why is it so hard lol .
I have ban getting achy calf muscles and ankle/feet especially at night and first thing in the morning   tho only had 1 actual cramp at 19w I am now starting to feel like if I stretch my legs out quick in the morning they'll cramp. Which I'm not used to as I haven't had leg cramps before .
Also have a new awareness of my pelvic bone . Sometimes similar to an ach but not painful more aknowledging a part of my body I don't usually felt . I suspect it's the softening of the ligaments allowing movement I can feel and its just a new type of sensation . Like when you stretch your body thinks it is pain but it's just new if you relax and listen to what the muscles are doing its just different or uncomfortable not actual pain . It's like that . Under my public bone and in my sacrum which kind of clicks and crunches a little when I'm in a reclined posture .
Nothing to complain about its just new
  • @foxaírt I take a magnesium supplement before bed. Mornings after I worked i would wake up and stretch only for it to then into an extreme cramp or have it happen during sleep. The magnesium has helped tremendously.
  • I do take magnesium.
I also take a prenatal  multi which has it in it and omegas
I always suggest magnesium to people haha . My husband takes it for migraines when he goes off it or forgets back they come

Its a Good suggestion . I wasn't think about it much maybe I'll up the dose see if it helps . Might start having Epsom baths before bed too help relax a bit more and get comfortable

I think it's doesn't help it's so cold I could be tensing or laying too long in one spot because of the cold
  • My hip pain is SO BAD and now my lower back is hurting. Taking a bath helps my hips for the moment but then getting up out of the bath is a lot of work. Today my ribs started hurting, like a sore pain. Not sure what that's from!

  • @samsterrr I bought a Gabriella support belt, can even place a cold or hot pack in the back of it, it has helped so much with work.  Went to take an Epson salt bath tonight, forgot to add the Epson salt.  Haha. DD tells me "every time you take a bath all you do is eat ice pops and watch", I explained I take baths for my back.
  • @samsterrr same here for the hip and lower back pain. Asked my doctor and she said I could try stretching and massage but most likely my ligaments just need to stretch and it might make me sore. Will have to try the belt @MaximumEffort recommended.
  • Acid reflux hit a new low. It gets so much that if I burp or cough it comes up and I end up having to throw up. Today there was blood in it and such bad epigasyric and chest pain it stopped my in my tracks. Midwife wants me to do protonix.  I can't wait to go home, in on so much pain in my throat and chest.
