Re: Tuesday ticker

  • How far along are you? 37 weeks today.

How big is baby? I've stopped keeping track...an educated guess from me would be 7lbs 10 oz

Any upcoming appointments this week? Induction at 8am tomorrow!

Any new symptoms or cravings this week?

Not feeling great but nothing new.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I think my nerves for the second baby are worse then they were for my first...I didn't know as much as I do now and although my last birth experience was actually GREAT and went smoothly...for some reason I'm way more nervous this time (probably because of my pp bleed last time)

GTKY: Tell us what you know about your birth story? (As in, your mother giving birth to you)

I am the oldest of 5. My mom was incredibly sick with me and almost died. She had pre e, and HELLP syndrome. She went in for appt and ended up with emergency c section. She was not allowed to see me for 24 hours as she was in ICU.

My Dad is extremely squeamish to the point where he has fainted during several routine clinic appts (super funny if you know my dad because hes a farmer and delivers baby farm animals with no issues...)And so my grandmother was in the delivery room with my mom.

@belmont1785 congrats and good luck tomorrow!!! I can't wait to see photos and read your birth story!
  • How far along are you? 37 weeks, Full term!

How big is baby? Large, last week the US said 7lbs 10oz, but reassured me that it can be more than a pound off, so somewhere around there I guess.

Any upcoming appointments this week? OB on Thursday and US Friday, if I dont cancel the other USs.

Any new symptoms or cravings this week? Cravings are still Ice cream, but eating a normal size meal is an issue.  LO is super high, and it is now super hard to eat normal sized meals, to the point that I didnt gain any weight last week. . .  My newest symptom is crazy labor dreams.  I had dreams all last night about my water breaking, going into labor in weird places, etc.  I kept waking up and freaking out that I was in labor, when in reality I had to pee. . .

Rants/Raves/Questions? My 5th wedding Anniversary is Friday.  We are celebrating on Saturday.  We are also going to try and get the nursery 100% done this weekend, and DH really wants to pack our hospital bags and get all sorts of projects done too, but I have zero motivation to do anything.  I just want to take a nap . . .

GTKY: Tell us what you know about your birth story? (As in, your mother giving birth to you)

I was born on a naval base in Okinawa Japan.  My Dad was in the Air Force, but the Air Force base didn't have a Labor and Delivery unit.  Okinawa is a TINY Island south of main land Japan, so getting to the other base was easy.  My EDD was the 24th of Jan, and that night there was an earthquake (about a 6 magnitude) and my mom said that was what started to shake me out.  Prior to that I hadn't even dropped.  On the 26th, she still hadn't had any real contractions, but she lost her plug and was bleeding a bit, so she decided to go in.  When they got there, someone checked my mom and found out my feet were coming out (they could feel them), so they literally told her and my dad what was happening, knocked my mom out and performed an emergency c-section.  My Dad couldn't be in the room becuase they put my mom under, but when they brought me in to see my Dad, they showed him that during the c-section they cut my butt (which still has the scar on it), and wrapped me back up and gave me to him.  They were also team green, so he got to tell my mom that they had a girl.

@belmont1785 Good Luck tomorrow!  Cant wait to hear your birth story!

@tova24 Im glad your friend will be there to help!  My family keeps asking if they can come and "help" and Ive said no a thousand times.  They are usually zero help, and would much rather go out to eat.  I love my family, but I dont need a thousand hands putting things away for me.

  • Thank you both

@littlebug2010  what an eventful birth story! That's quite the world entrance! An earthquake and all!
  • @belmont1785 Thanks! I like to tell my mom that I was just testing the water.  Of course becuase of that story with me, she is convinced the same thing will happen to me.  She forgets that its not 88, and Im not in a different country, so the odds of any of that happening are like zero.  I know that my guy is head down, and the odds of having an earthquake in Boston are almost zero.

How far along are you? 35 weeks

    How big is baby? Pineapple

Any upcoming appointments this week? 36 weeker next week

Any new symptoms or cravings this week? Restless legs are SERIOUS. I didn't fall asleep until 6:00am this morning. Thankfully was able to sleep later this morning, but I'm going crazy and nothing is helping.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Just RLS. Anyone have this and have something that helped?

GTKY: Tell us what you know about your birth story? (As in, your mother giving birth to you) // Don't know much, but here's what I do know:

•same as @littlebug2010 mine involves a natural disaster---we live in FL and there was a hurricane coming. Hurricanes are notorious for putting women into labor because of the pressure changes in the atmosphere (which will be interesting because August is definitely hurricane season so we'll see how that plays out)

•moms water broke spontaneously, while she was at work. Called dad and dad didn't believe her!

•I was born at 37 weeks, vaginal, with an epidural. I think she had like 10ish hours of labor.

  • @mrsmatt1212 that is super interesting about hurricanes!  It makes complete sense, just never something I had thought about.  I also love that your Dad didnt believe her!

@belmont1785 I love this GTKY!  Maybe this should be a full group GTKY @PinkPrincessPiper!

  • @mrsmatt1212 I had the worst RLS while I was pregnant - I had a few remedies but none were perfect and worked every time. I keep a mini electric massager by my bedside for times I had serious RLS at night and didn't want to move. Otherwise I would get up and walk a little (like, to the kitchen and back to the couch), or beg DH to massage my legs. I have RLS sometimes when not pregnant too... It's so frustrating!
  • @gwtw733 it's seriously the worst  :/ I'm feeling so desperate for sleep!
