Alright ladies how are we feeling? Any appointments this week? Rants/raves or concerns? Let's hear them

QOTW: what are we splurging on for this baby? Any items you are excited about?

Re: Pregnant after IF check in 7/13

  • Things are about the same this week as last. Still nauseated most of the day. I have a bad taste in my mouth pretty much all the time, so I'm eating weird foods to compensate. I got some brownies last night at CostCo and ate one and the chocolate did not combine well with the bad mouth taste, so that's disappointing. I haven't thrown up so far and I'm hoping it stays that way. Oh, and the exhaustion. So damn tired.

I'm really looking forward to getting maternity clothes and baby stuff, but it still feels so far off that I haven't. Plus I'll be biggest in winter, and all the clothes now are summery. Has anyone bought stuff yet?

QOTW: what are we splurging on for this baby? Any items you are excited about?
I'm most excited to get a baby carrier, like an Ergo or Tula.

  • @eggplantface I haven't bought anything (other than some second hand maternity jeans and a Hatch dress on super sale for a wedding) but I have been looking around and trying to strategize my fall/winter work outfits so I don't have to buy too much stuff. I just saw today that Isabel & Ingrid will be doing a line for Target on July 30th so keep an eye out!

I have been feeling really terrible this week, really tired and tons of food aversions. I had an OB appt on Monday which did not go well(but I saw the baby wiggling and waving and that was awesome), but I made an appt with a midwife for tomorrow so fingers crossed. DH is away for work for three weeks and its been tough but I am managing so far. Just waiting for 1st Tri to be over!

QOTW: what are we splurging on for this baby? Any items you are excited about? We wont be getting too much stuff to start with because we will be waiting until after baby to move out of our one bedroom apt. I am also super excited for carriers, I want a Sakura Bloom (they are having a sample sale today FYI) and a Solly. I also would love a really nice diaper backpack like from Fawn Design.

  • @MrsJ2410 You used so many words I don't know! I'm rapidly googling "Hatch dress," "Sakura Bloom," and "Solly." I hope you have a good experience with your midwife tomorrow!

  • @eggplantface I'm dreading needing winter maternity clothes because they seem to be way more expensive. Last pregnancy I was due in May so I got away with stretching my north face over my belly as I grew. It looked like I was stealing a turkey but it worked. Maternity coats so ridiculously expensive.

AFM: I'm okay. Been really dizzy and the nausea has gotten worse. I thought it was supposed to be going away. Other than that I'm just patiently waiting for my NT test next Wednesday so I can little one again. I feel like this pregnancy is starting to fly. After this my next ultrasound is the anatomy scan in September. That's only like a month and a half away. Isn't that crazy. They said baby was measuring behind and then ahead so they are curious was he/she will measure at the NT scan.

QOTW: if it's a girl I'll be most excited about clothes. Everything girly. If it's a boy I already have so much clothes and things I'll just be excited for new bottles and we have to get a new co sleeper bassinet as DS stayed in his too long and damaged it. This time we won't make that mistake and just do the transition sooner.
  • @eggplantface @MrsJ2410 I am googling Solly and Sakura Bloom and Fawn Designs too  :) This week is not good. I have a cold, my 15 month old has a cold and my husband is away in Vancouver for work for ten days. I also work so yeah.... feel like it will be a tough week. For the most part I am feeling better though... a bit of nausea if I don't eat enough and tired. I seem to get bad insomnia first trimester so am awake every night from 3 am.

I am also wondering how I get through to the NT scan - it isn't until 1st August and I am sooooo anxious. Our last scan was 8 weeks 4 days.

QOTW: I have pretty much everything we need from last time... so I am just looking forward to decorating the nursery and like @SunflowerMama428, if it's a girl I can buy some cute clothes!
  • @LydRussell @eggplantface Hatch NYC is a really awesome maternity brand but they are really expensive. BUT they are having a good sale now AND they are meant to be worn if you aren't pregnant as well( if you are into flowy stuff, which I am in general), so for some things I justify spending the $$. I have only bought on sale though.

Solly is a wrap and Sakura is a ring sling!

@SunflowerMama428 I am also dreading maternity coats..my good friend got a (non-maternity) coat from Uniqlo last year that I don't think was too expensive I think she just sized up. I will cross that bridge when its necessary. Sorry you are feeling so terrible still, we are in the home stretch now!

  • One of my friends was due last Feb and she wore her regular coat but only buttoned the top buttons, above her belly. It was hilarious yet genius.

I'm feeling really nauseous today and have had a blistering headache. I finally caved and took some Tylenol with a small can of soda to see if I can get rid of it. I had my NIPT test yesterday so looking forward to hearing that risk is low for chromosome abnormalities and finding out whether or not this little nugget has a Y-chromosome.

I lucked out on maternity clothes as a friend of mine was getting rid of hers and gave them all to me. A nice mix of business casual and weekend wear, plus a little black dress for special occasions. I wore them all while I was pregnant with DD who was a March baby, so should work great for this February baby too! As for a coat, I used my normal wool pea coat and LL Bean parka. Toward the end they didn't close over the belly, but I was so hot from pregnancy that it didn't matter. For reference I live in MA and I begged my husband to open the windows in February while we slept because I was so hot...poor guy would go to bed in flannel pjs, wool Sox, and his Red Sox knit cap.  So the coat, I'd recommend wait and see. I did get new snow boots when I was pregnant with my daughter because my feet were too big to fit in the old ones.

QOTW: If this baby is a boy I'll need all new clothes but if another girl, I'll be all set since they'll be same season. I don't know what I'll splurge on!

  • @SunflowerMama428  can you add me please? I am due Feb 15. I have secondary infertility, pcos, and endometriosis. Just one babe :)

I'm feeling ok for the most part, I think I am over the worst of the nausea (knock on wood). I'm super tired and getting headaches but overall nothing too bad. I have my final appointment tomorrow with my RE which means I can finally stop PIO shots hooray!

I want to splurge on all the things! mostly I'm excited to buy a new tula if it's a girl.

  • @MrsJ2410 I love the Hatch stuff - looked at it last time but have never ordered anything. I am based in New Zealand and am not sure how far they ship? Also with exchange rate makes everything super expensive! I am going to check out the sale now though.... ASOS is really well priced for maternity. I just did a big order.

  • @brooklyngirl18 I read your siggy and 40 eggs retrieved?

    That's amazing!

What did you think of the Tula? I don't really know the difference between that and the Ergo, just that the Tula is "prettier."

@eggplantface yep I had 40 eggs and 60 follicles, thanks to pcos :|  I thought I was about to die leading up to retrieval. i love love love my tula but DS wasn't a huge fan. It was great for outings and when he was fussy but I didn't wear him as much as many other moms since he preferred to crawl and move around on his own. I never tried an ergo but I had a bjorn and it's like night and day. The tula is much more comfortable and easy to use. There is a crazy market for some special tulas, but generally they go for about 200.

  • I've been having a lot of nausea this past week and also a feeling like I've eaten too much.

Splurge - I've heard a lot of good things about the UppaBaby stroller but it's pretty expensive so that might be my splurge item

It is super humid and we have had tons of severe thunderstorms rolling through one after the other so my guess is that's contributing. I have a call to CA in about 10 minutes and when it's done I'm going to bed. That seems to be the most likely fix now!

  • I think I have a lot of googling to do after reading all your comments. I checked out Sakura Bloom and I think I'm going to have to do some convincing to get my husband on board with buying something like that, but I really want to baby wear once the little one's here. The more I learn, the more I think I'm going to turn into a crunchy mom.

I need to look into maternity coats, too, being in MI. But my friend had her son last March and bought a coat, so I'm hoping to borrow it or maybe purchase it off her for a discount. I'm all for spending as little as possible for clothes I'm only going to wear for a few months. But, I don't want to wear the same things over and over again, so maybe I need to get over my cheapness when it comes to buying clothes for myself.

I had a bit of anxiety yesterday when I woke up and didn't have any symptoms for the second day. I freaked out a little, since my MMC last year when I had a week or so without symptoms before discovering the baby stopped developing. Luckily my RE is very understanding and fit me into an US and I got to see the little one and hear the heartbeat. Symptoms (nausea, sore boobs) came back today, so I am going to try to appreciate the little reprieves from feeling too pregnant. Of course, I'm keeping my previously scheduled US for next week and then a couple weeks after that before I graduate to my OB.

QOTW: Although I'm super cheap when it comes to me, I will probably not hold back on much when it comes to the baby. I know I'm going to invest in a good DSLR for my husband so we can have high-quality photos. I'm not sure what else I'm going to have to buy or splurge on at this point. With so many losses in the past, I've tried to stay away from dreaming too much until I know we're pretty much in the clear.

  • Can you please add me, @SunflowerMama428? I am due 2/18. We have male factor infertility, and just one babe on the way!

This week I "graduated" from our RE, and got to see our little one and hear his/her heartbeat! I also had my first OB appt today.

I've been lucky and relatively symptom-free. I've had some food aversions, and fatigue and breast tenderness that comes and goes.

Not sure what I want to splurge on yet, but I'm sure I'll find plenty!

Due Date: 2/16 (the FET was on my mom's birthday and the EDD is my dad's birthday, so that's kind of cool), 1 bean, Dx: unknown, Team Green for now!

I've been pretty quiet about the process and my pregnancy so far, which has been pretty lonely, but I don't have many friends who have been through IVF or dealt with infertility, and my parents and in-laws definitely don't understand.

DH and I started our journey with IVF because we are both carriers for cystic fibrosis. Based on our numbers, it wasn't supposed to be this hard, but... I had 5 egg retrievals with over 100 eggs taken from my ovaries. Round 1 = 0 embryos, round 2 = 1 normal embryo, but it didn't stick, round 3 = 1 embryos that was positive for CTF, and round 4 = 0 embryos (all within our first year of marriage...). We took a break after that and decided to try with a donor eggs from an egg bank. We got one normal embryo from that round, but it didn't stick. While we searched for a new donor, I had a small polyp removed from my uterus. We found another donor from the egg bank, but didn't get any normal embryos again. At that point, I said I wanted to try again with my own eggs since we seem to have the same rate of success. For the 5th egg retrieval, we had one normal embryo and I am currently 9w2d.

I had my last appt. with my RE on Friday and I'm having crazy separation anxiety. There are times when it is still hard for me to believe I am pregnant (I just feel fat). I'm usually a pretty active person, but after I had some bleeding a couple weeks ago, my RE limited my activity. My weekly check-ins and ultrasounds helped ease my anxiety, especially after the bleeding. I've been pretty lucky with symptoms, there's lots of nausea and fatigue, but no puking yet! My boobs are a different story... I've always been pretty small, but now... HOLY BOOBS, BATMAN! I'm like a puppy that hasn't grown into its paws yet. I almost knocked my water glass over wh a boob when getting up from the table the other night!

  • So pregnancy rhinitis has started for me...and it's taken my nausea from manageable to throwing up and gagging all day long.  I'm so over it and counting down the days till second trimester is here.  During moments when I feel ok, which is usually in the morning, I take time to really appreciate my pregnancy and talk to LO and let him know that I'm just mad at the symptoms and not him...I feel so guilty for wanting to rush through the first trimester...but I need a break! Ugh!

Qotw: since we know we are having a boy, and we already have DS, we aren't really planning to splurge on anything in particular.  I did tell my wife that I really wanted professional photos of the birth this time, so she had agree to hire someone for me, but then my cousin who is an amazing photographer offered for free!  I'm sure there will be something we have to splurge on, but I can't think of anything at the moment.

I hope yall y'all are having a great week!!
