Waiting Room Wednesday- July 12

***General TW that this thread might contain discussions mentioning MC and loss.***

Welcome to Waiting Room Wednesday!

You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on not TTC and connect with others who are in the same boat. TTC can be a long journey, and having to wait makes it feel even longer -- even if it is for a good reason. I invite you to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Benched = involuntarily not NTNP/TTC and "out of the game," usually due to medical reasons

TTA = avoiding pregnancy by using protection or FAM, usually for non-health-related reasons __________________________________________________________________

Are you benched or TTA?

What brings you here?

How long do you think you'll be here?

How have things been going?

Any R/R?

I don't feel like I really fit in this post anymore but I wanted it posted for those who do :) Any volunteers to take it over for next week?

GTKY: What was your favorite toy as a child? Barbie :)

  • @glitzandglitter I can take it over if you like! :) I was actually going to post it today, but you got to it first, lol.

Are you benched or TTA? TTA!

What brings you here? The lovely conversation with you lovely ladies. Also someone to talk to about all the waiting stuff, since I know it drives DH crazy and I don't have many friends I can talk to about it.

How long do you think you'll be here? Hopefully not past the end of the year for trying, but I'll probably stick around once we start. Our countdown is on, since I started working again.

How have things been going? They've been okay! I went into detail about yesterday on the weekly chat thread, so I won't go into that here. DH has an audition for another position within the company on Monday, so we're hoping he gets that.

Any R/R? I slept for six hours when I got home yesterday and then about seven or eight once I finally fell back asleep and I still feel completely drained >.<

GTKY: What was your favorite toy as a child? I had an Easy Bake Oven, which I loved, as well as my Care Bears. I was definitely a child of the late 80s/early 90s.

  • @dreamscapes_ that sounds great! Yay! For your countdown restarting!! FX your DH gets the new position he wants. Also, I love that yours was an easy bake oven - even then you had a love for baking :)

Are you benched or TTA? TTA ......I think?

What brings you here? Comradery while I wait and figure things out

How long do you think you'll be here? After my husband's comment I mentioned in weekly chat I'm not really sure!

How have things been going? Up and down.  I've been letting the leftover baby weight bring me down.  I've decided that I need to take a stand against myself and stop bashing my body and the baby weight.  I need to be a positive roll model, not let it bring me down mentally, and have self confidence!

Any R/R? Randomness: Rave - Trader Joe's dark chocolate peanut butter cups.  Rant - humidity

GTKY: What was your favorite toy as a child?  I'm also a Barbie girl!

  • Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? Playing the waiting game until TTC

How long do you think you'll be here? Until September

How have things been going? Lurking on TTGP has been.... Interesting. It's changed a lot since I was TTC#1

Any R/R? I feel like crap today. No clue why.

GTKY: What was your favorite toy as a child? I also loved Barbies!

  • @dreamscapes_ yay for officially counting down!  And @KFrob yay for maybe unexpectedly being at the end of the countdown?! Haha :)

Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? Just hanging out til we are ready to start TTC! It is good to have people to talk to about my baby fever other than DH... pretty sure I was driving him crazy, he doesn't quite get it  :) Not like he's not excited to TTC, he just doesn't feel it in the same way I do!

How long do you think you'll be here? Til we start trying in either Dec or Jan, although I'll probably keep hanging around after that too.

How have things been going? Pretty good. I've been pretty busy with work, house projects, and other stuff, and the distraction has been a positive thing for me I think.

Any R/R? Rant, my poor dog has some kind of rash and I've gotta take her to the vet Friday, which she hates.  I'm hoping she doesn't have to wear the "cone of shame" but we'll see what they say.

GTKY: What was your favorite toy as a child? I loved my Beanie Baby collection!

  • @dreamscapes_ when will he find out?
  • @glitzandglitter There's a call back scheduled on the 19th, so if he gets invited to that, it's a good sign. Beyond that, we're not sure.

If I see that this thread hasn't been started and I'm able to, I'll definitely start it. Don't worry @glitzandglitter, someone will eventually start it.

Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? Nursing school

How long do you think you'll be here? Another 1.5 months or so, depending on how my cycles fall.

How have things been going? Great!

Any R/R? I officially stopped BCPs as of this cycle! H and I have been using condoms until my BBT (hopefully) shows O, then we can ditch them during the TWW. I use a CPAP, so I'm hoping I can track my BBT and see a clear temp shift, but I've found conflicting information online, so it's kind of an experiment ATM.

GTKY: What was your favorite toy as a child? I had this life-size barbie doll that my aunt gave me. She taught me how to braid and I would sit there and do its hair and pretend I was a hair dresser. It was the best like month of my life toy-wise. My infatuation didn't last long, though, because I have the attention span of a gnat, and I was way more interested in playing outside with the neighbor kids. Because they were really cute.

@dreamscapes_  Good luck to your husband re: his audition!

@KFrob - Good luck figuring out your timeline!  And definitely don't bash your body - it's been through a lot having a baby!  Plus, I feel like I'm more successful with weight loss when I am positive about the body I have currently and excited for change, instead of negative about the body I have and needing the change to occur, if that makes any sense?  Anyway, I know it can be hard.  I never thought I'd still have ten pounds to go nearly a year and a half after DD was born, but everyone has a different timeline.  Just focus on loving yourself and being healthy!  Hugs!

@lalala2004 - I am totally intimidated by TTGP!  I will probably venture over there in December, but I'm glad I've had this time to lurk because I wouldn't have known the rules/culture at ALL.  My BMB was very laid back and so is this group, so it's good to prepare!  (I get that it's so crazy because it has SO many participants and there are a crazy amount of total weirdo drive bys, so I understand why they have the culture they do, it's just definitely intimidating!)

@diaphena - We have roughly the same TTC timeline - high five to another person who will be hanging out here for a while!  :)

@izza2 - Yay for stopping birth control!  I was thinking of experimenting with temping (I didn't do it last time we TTC'd) this time.  Let me know how you like it!  (This sounds lazy probably, but I hate the idea of waking up to do it!)

    Are you benched or TTA?

    TTA.

    What brings you here?

Waiting out the waiting to TTC.  :)

How long do you think you'll be here?

    Until first week of December.

    How have things been going?

Pretty good!  I had a minor freakout about whether or not to start TTC in September, but I ran through the pros and cons logically and we're gonna stick with December.  It's hard to wait, but there are SO many pros (more time to save after paying for DD's surgery, more time to get to the next rung in the pay scale at work, which will be necessary with 2 in day care, more time to lose weight and get in shape, and if we wait until December we get the 8 best months of the year of due dates that are best for my work schedule right in a row, especially the first 5 months, which would be absolutely ideal.)  So, I just decided to stick with the plan and focus on the fact that it's really only a matter of three months difference and enjoy the upsides of not being pregnant right now (more energy to write, sushi, wine...well, after the next 6 weeks of my diet anyway, haha.)  And not to mention more time to soak up with DD being the only.  She's at such a fun, snuggly, wild and crazy age, it's good to have this time with her to enjoy before I feel crappy with morning sickness or go through the exhausting newborn phase again.  Anyway, I feel good about the decision and am not going to go back and forth anymore. :)

    Any R/R?

Raves: I'm feeling really great physically and energy wise since starting my diet last week.  I'm LOVING our new morning schedule that we also started last week, which has left me time to walk a loop in our local park in the morning for a half hour.  It's so, so relaxing and some much needed me time.

Rants: I'm a little behind on my script because I got lazy with my writing the last two days, but I'm hoping to make up for it today and tomorrow.  Revised goal is 5 scenes done by Friday eve.

GTKY: What was your favorite toy as a child?

Okay, it wasn't technically mine, it was my brother's, but the huge He-Man castle that came with a slime pit!  I loved that thing!

  • @dreamscapes_ I looked up photos of the inflatable cones of shame and now I'm cracking up. They look like those airplane neck pillows! If my pup does need one I might have to go get her a fancy inflatable neck pillow haha!  Hope your DH gets good news next week.

@izza2 I remember being jealous of one of my friends who had a life-size Barbie. Hers was so much cooler than my regular size Barbies.

@maureenmce yaaas I'm glad we can hold down the fort together til December! I'm glad you're feeling good about your decision to start then. Some days I feel like it's so far away, but lately it hasn't felt like too long of a wait. I like your attitude of enjoying the benefits of not being pregnant right now - I should focus on that too when I start feeling impatient!
  • @dreamscapes_ Hooray for countdowns and auditions! I hope you sleep well tonight and feel better tomorrow.  And watch out for that heat!  Are "audition" and "call back" just Disney lingo, or is it an acting job?

@kfrob Trader Joe's dark chocolate peanut butter cups are sooooo good.

@izza2 @maureenmce I temped while trying for DS, and it worked really well. I had a fitness band that would vibrate an alarm to wake me up just enough, then I'd grab my thermometer from inside my pillowcase (where I couldn't lose it or knock it to the floor) and take my temperature.  Then I'd go back to sleep and get the temperature to record off the thermometer when I woke up for real.  I never thought about how something like sleep apnea would affect temping.  Good luck!

@maureenmce It sounds like you have a solid plan!  And I have been really trying to take advantage of eating and drinking what I want.  I've been really into sangria this summer.  And I always like a good margarita.

Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? Just waiting for my appointment on Monday to remove my IUD!

How long do you think you'll be here?

I guess I'll officially be done trying to avoid on Monday.  But I'm not planning on going anywhere.

    How have things been going?

Okay.  I started googling what to expect when my iud comes out, and I freaked myself out.  Lots of women were talking about not getting a period for months and months or not having regular periods for a year.  So now I'm worried that I won't even ovulate for several months.  I just wanted to know if I should bring ibuprofen or tampons to the appointment, and now I'm worried I won't be able to really start TTC for months.  Stupid Google.

Any R/R? I think I have DS's cold.  On the plus side, it seems to be just a runny nose that's causing a slightly sore throat.  Fingers crossed, anyway.

GTKY: What was your favorite toy as a child?  Um... Maybe my dress up box? I wasn't into barbies or dolls.  I had a lot of stuffed animals.  And I liked to do craft kits.

  • @maureenmce I loved temping my first time around. Once I learned everything I did from the FF tutorials and TCOYF I was a glutton for information! But I'm also a nerd. I set an alarm to take it every day, but sometimes I fell back asleep, so it was NBD. Good thing my BBT saved temps because sometimes I fell asleep before entering it in!

  • @Secretstapler Audition and callback are for positions within the entertainment department :) I have no experience with an IUD, but my best friend had one and she definitely took ibuprofen before the appointment. I remember that she said her doctor suggested bringing pads with her, but not tampons.

Our updated time line is this baby has to be born in June!  It occurred to me that the baby being born in the spring isn't going to work since my husband works a full time and two season jobs then.  Having a newborn without his help wouldn't be smart planning.  And we've mentioned on here how being gigantic pregnant in the summer is not ideal.  So that leaves June.  I think I have to take one for the team and have a late summer/early fall baby.
  • @KFrob - it's hot but you will be fine :)  I'm glad you figured out your timeline.

@KFrob - Good luck with your June due date timeline!!!  :)

@diaphena  And yes, we'll hold down the fort til December together!  Woo!  :)
  • @maureenmce Thanks, I passed that along! I'm glad that you've got a good outlook on continuing to wait until December :) I think my brother had that He-Man castle, too!

@diaphema Aren't they funny? I hope he gets good news, too!

  • WWYD? This is a humble brag, but I've lost a lot of weight this year. It took me a year to lose the weight I gained in pregnancy, but then I continued to lose more, so now all of my clothes are big. I'm hesistant to buy all new clothes since we are going to TTC soon, but it's annoying to not have clothes that fit right. And who knows how long TTC will take.... The other issue is I don't want to get rid of my other clothes in case I need them during/after another potential pregnancy, so I don't have a ton of room, either. I've bought some new bras and a new swimsuit, but that's really it. What are your thoughts?

@lalala2004 - First of all - Yay! Way to go on your weight loss! I would just buy a few new staples that fit and box up the ones that I absolutely can't or won't wear right now. You could just put them in rubbermaids in the top of a closet or garage or whatever until you know for sure you won't want them anymore.

We don't have a garage, unfortunately. I really need to purge something. Probably DH's stuff

@maureenmce - I temped when we were TTC back in 2015, and I loved it. I like knowing what's happening with my body, and being able to see a temp shift and know I've O'd - even if it's after the fact.
I use a CPAP, so I'm hoping it'll still be fairly accurate and I can see a temp shift this time around. So far, other than when I take my temp way off time, it's seemed to be pretty on track with what I'd expected. I had a temp spike yesterday, and this morning my temp was taken 2 hours later than usual, but was still higher than my temps on CD 1-9, other than one day. So if it stays up another couple of days, I'll know I can temp successfully with a CPAP.
Here's my chart, if you're interested:

@lalala2004 - I'd get rid of some of the clothes that don't fit you (ones you don't wear often, or that are getting worn out), and replace them with clothes that do fit. That way you have a bit of both: clothes that fit you right now, and while you're TTGP, and ones that you can wear once pregnant and post-baby.

  • @lalala2004 congrats on the weight loss! I had the same thought as @izza2, keep some old clothes and buy some new so you'll have what you need regardless of what happens with TTC. Definitely get some new things though so you aren't stuck with only baggy clothes! If storage is an issue, maybe some of those vacuum seal bags would help??
  • Thanks for everyone's thoughts. There are definitely some things I can get rid of that I don't love to make a little space.

What brings you here? Boredom, looking for info/advice - I know very, very little about babies and pregnancy!

How long do you think you'll be here? Till Nov, Dec, Jan-ish? Want to wait till after or honeymoon (mid-Nov) and then not sure how soon to start trying after that, plus I'll need to stop BCP.

How have things been going? Thanks to two friends having babies recently, my fiance and I have baby fever. It always spikes when we hang out with our friends with kids!

Any R/R? Rant - I have been in a royally pissed off mood. Nothing is really that bad but I just can't shake the irritability I've been experiencing for the last 3 days. Really weird that this time last week I was super happy, really giddy, and just in a weird "high on life" mood. I've started charting in FF and Flo just to get used to it (is there really any point in doing it if I'm still on BCP?) and maybe it's having a weird placebo-like effect on me? Like now that I'm paying attention to my mood it's effecting me more...? It could also be the generic BCP that the pharmacy subbed in this month - I HATE when they do that.

GTKY: What was your favorite toy as a child? I definitely played with my fair share of Barbies, Beanie Babies, and made lots of cookies with my Easy Bake Oven. But the toy I still have in storage - my Littlest Petshop collection. From when the cats and dogs looked like real cats and dogs, not the weird bug-eyed abominations they are now.

  • @kimberbeep charting in FF won't show you anything while on BCP. If you do it anyway, I would set up a different account or somehow delete those cycles before TTC so they don't throw off your FF data.

When I was preparing to TTC #1 I got off birth control a month early and we used condoms so I could get used to charting.
