Restless

I layed awake last night for hours trying get comfortable and sleep but it was not happening. How do you battle restless legs/arms?! Stretching and massage was helping slightly but it just kept coming back!

Re: Restless

  • @samsterrr Wish I could offer advice...but I have the same problem. I woke up this morning at 2:30am and didn't fall back asleep until 5:30am, then woke up for the day at 7am.

You might look into Natural Calm magnesium supplement. It helps muscles relax and soothes you to sleep. It is safe for pregnancy (according to my OB) and can be found on Amazon.

  • @samsterrr when I asked my OB about this during my pregnancy with DD1 she said make sure you are drinking enough water in the day and also suggested eating a banana as your after dinner snack.

I'm not a doctor so I'm not sure if it actually works but I did get some relief eventually.

    Hope that helps.
  • My friend swears by a banana a day to keep restless legs away!

I got a night splint, but this was an issue for me before pregnancy due to nerve damage in my legs from a herniated disc. Stretching is really important!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • My pregnancy pillow has made a world of difference for me! As well as a banana a day!
  • I was craving banana chips the other day so maybe that's why!! Hahaha hopefully those help because actual bananas don't sound good! I think I'll start stretching more like before bed!

  • I've found that if I drink a bottle of water within an hour before bed that I'm less likely to wake up to leg cramps in the middle of the night. I also swear by my lavender essential oil to help me sleep especially if I've had a stressful day!
  • Find a heavy pillow or comforter to keep on your legs. RLP is common in pregnancy I believe and if I get my husband to put his legs over mine I feel it helps me fall asleep and calm my legs down.
