Low slow rising HCG levels

Hello, I'm looking for anyone with experience with low, slow rising HCG levels. I'm not feeling very hopeful as I've had a prior miscarriage and keep getting in my own head. My last menstrual cycle was 5/20/17 which would put me at 7w2d. My levels initially doubled but after the initial jump they have not been doubling in the expected timeframe and seem to be a little low. However, they are still rising which I'm happy about.
My levels are as follows:
6/23 - 4w6d - 67
6/30 - 5w6d - 1230
7/6 - 6w5d - 3839
7/10 - 7w2d - 5579

Re: Low slow rising HCG levels

  • What does your doctor say?

I have miscarried all pregnancies that the hcg was slow rising.

That was my experience.  Your doctor should give you more information.

  • Why are they drawing the HCG so far apart? Why are they still drawing hcg instead of doing an ultrasound. At this point an ultrasound is a much better indicator of how the pregnancy is progressing.
fwiw hcg rises slower once it exceeds 1000
  • My doctors office wants levels to be over 6000 for the first US. I just got scheduled today for my US but the first opening isn't until 7/19 so I have to wait it out and my appointment with my dr won't be until after my US.
I reminded them again after my results on 7/6 of my last period date and I was told they were thinking I was earlier than that. They indicated it is a little low and with my numbers they are falling between 5&7 weeks. On occasion they have seen them not double, but unfortunately, it is a waiting game and they couldn't really say for sure.
Yes, I'm aware the doubling time slows down after reaching a certain point but after 6 days it still hadn't doubled and should have by then.
  • Are you sure of when you ovulated? When did you get a bfp? According to my last period I should be over ten weeks but I know I ovulated late and am only 8 weeks. Confirmed through ultrasound.
  • I will add, your first to second checks do seem ok, if you figure based on the first number and double it every 48 hours it's right on. (Just now realizing I can't remember if it's supposed to double every 24 or 48 hours, which would obviously play a big part!)
  • Waiting is the hardest part.  I sincerely hope you are one of the cases that slow rising hcg is ok.
