Trying to Get Pregnant

Robitussin while ttc?

Did anyone try that? Does that really work? I just read a few posts below about the plan and its in there. They say taking that instead of Clomid? I have never heard of that.

Re: Robitussin while ttc?

  • Without my TCOYF book in front me, I think it just helps to increase EWCM.  Just make sure it is the Robitussin without any letters/numbers after it.  I am a newbie though, so I have no clue about the Clomid statement.

  • All Robitussin does is increase EWCM.  It won't make you ovulate - just makes it a friendlier place for sperm when you do ovulate.  It can't replace clomid if someone really needs clomid!
  • I just read about that yesterday. I think PP is right, it increases CM. I thought I remembered something about it helping your body better take pregnancy, but I can't remember where I saw it now. Hmm.

I won't be using this method though...I'm allergic to Robitussin. Random, huh? Huh?

  • pp's are right- it increases ewcm (or can). mucinex does the same. i used it both cycles ttc. not sure if it helped, but it can't hurt.

  • See ya learn something new everyday! I had no idea that it increased it. I haven't got that far in my book yet. I don't think I will be trying that.

  • Mucinex makes CM thinner and easier for sperm to swim through. Think about the commericals for Mucinex, it helps get the mucus out by making it thinner and easier to cough up. It does the same thing to CM.

Clomid is an ovulation inducer that is prescribed by your doctor. If you're already ovulating well, you don't need it.

  • To increase CM, try drinking green tea or taking green tea capsules.

and you only take it until you ovulate. And the ingredient you are looking for in Robitussin and Mucinex is guaifenesin.

  • I've heard it can increase EWCM. I've heard the same about Mucinex. But personally, I'd be hesitant to take any sort of medication when I'm not actually sick. I came down with a raging sinus infection on Christmas Day (CD 2 for me) and was taking a decongestant for over a week, and a side effect of that seems to have been tons of EWCM this cycle. A lot more than the 1-2 days I normally get. But if I don't get KU this time around, I wouldn't go that route in the future when I'm not actually sick just for the sake of EWCM. You can always try PreSeed if your body doesn't produce a lot of EWCM on its own.
  • Also, this would be my reaction to anyone recommending taking Robitussin in place of Clomid:

    Indifferent

    Confused

Clomid is a fertility drug and should be taken only under a doctor's supervision. It's not candy. Then again, neither is Robitussin. Or Mucinex.
