Anyone experience swelling/tingling on one side? My left side, specifically my hand, has been prone to swelling/tingling. I have an OB appt Thursday where I'll mention it but it's been worse the last couple days. I've even moved to sleeping on my right side because I was waking up in the middle of the night with swollen fingers on the left and my hand asleep. @wifeinraleigh28 - I know you had some problems with hand/carpal tunnel - did it start that way?

@JWatt5 I'm having a similar issue that started a couple of days ago. I haven't spoken with my OB yet since I have an appointment on Friday. Mine is on the right side and I've been sleeping in my left side. I'll be interested in what you find out.

@JWatt5 I haven't had that problem, but my ob did say that if I have swelling only on one side or significantly more on one side to call and not wait for an appointment.
What exactly does preterm labor feel like? I started feeling a tingling/pins and needles feeling with what I think are Braxton Hicks. My doula said I should check with my ob to see if I should take magnesium to help. Based on that, it sounds like my doula might think I'm having preterm labor.
@persnickity - If I read right I think you are close to 36 weeks. I would think that contractions are normal at this point if they are not consistent and close together. If they were true labor contractions you should be able to keep track of how long and close they are (I downloaded an app). I think at the point you are at if you are having contractions less than 10 minutes apart then you need to call.

@persnickity - Mentioned to my OB, combine with my blood pressure being a bit up at my appt today they are going to watch it. Nothing has been really bad so far but if it gets any worse I need to call in.

@JWatt5 - I'm having swelling on my right side but not my left. I mentioned it at my appointment Friday and my OB said as long as it reduces overnight to not be concerned and to watch it. Swelling isn't symmetrical and is likely due to the baby laying more on one side which, in my case, is definitely happening on the right!! FX that it is just your little one snuggled up on something

@kelrauh Yes, I'm 36 weeks on Saturday. That's what I was thinking with regards to contractions, and was surprised that my doula wanted me to reach out to my ob about maybe taking magnesium to help prevent preterm labor. I've been having contractions more during the day, but it was the change in feeling with the tingling starting that had me questioning if it was normal.
@byrneme - Maybe that does have something to do with it. My swelling typically happens at night or when I've been laying on the couch or something. He lays on my left (we think because of the big old cyst on my right) most of the time with his hand/feet aggravating my cyst/ovary lol. He's been happy there for a few weeks now.
@persnickity - for sure - getting near the end when stuff all needs to line up. Had the Strep Group B done today too - hopefully that comes back ok!

@persnickity - I dont know if they give magnisium at 36 weeks. It is brutal on mom. I had it at 27 weeks and once I hit 32 weeks my doctor and I agreed they wouldnt put me through that again because the babies would be okay and it was rough. I had my twins at 33 weeks and they spent 18 days in the NICU and are perfect now besides reflux.

@kelrauh thanks for the information on magnesium. I didn't realize that. I'm still waiting to hear back from my ob on what she thinks. And I agree with @byrneme we'd love pictures/an update! I know we all followed your story.
@persnickity and @byrneme I can't believe it but Patrick and Cecilia are going to be 3 months on Monday. I dont know where time went. They are both hitting all of their developmental milestones for their age except for their size. Patrick is dealing with bad reflux so we stared him on cereal yesterday in hopes it helps (per doctors orders). They are smiling, starting to laugh and acknowledge us I love it. They arent in daycare yet, but I went back to work part time on may 1 and full time kon June 1. So, I only got one week at home with them but having healthy babies was worth it. Our families have been a huge help and stepped up as daycare until they start the first week of September. Here are picture from last month, I will take new ones on Monday

@persnickity Skip the magnesium at all cost. It made me sick as a dog and then ten minutes later they decided to c-section him out anyway. As far as pre-term labor, I didn't feel a thing until the morning I woke up and felt "pressure" (call it what it is:a strong urge to poop). He was born shortly after arriving to the hospital.

Thanks @clt2pwm11 for the advice! I haven't taken it, was waiting for my ob to approve it. The feeling has gone away so I'm not concerned. I'll just play it by ear.
@JWatt5 That does sound like it could be carpal tunnel. I'm sorry you're experiencing that! If it's any consolation, my carpal tunnel disappeared around 2 weeks pp.
@kelrauh I can't believe your babies are 3 months old already! What gorgeous babies they are!
