We have a couple that we're friends with who coming to visit from out of town. They're taking our old buffet because we inherited my grandma's credenza so we decided to make a weekend of it. She and I are going to go antiquing this afternoon while our husbands play with little toy soldiers (Age of Sigmar for fellow geeks). Then tonight we'll all go out to dinner and play some board games.
I've got a very exciting day of getting caught up on laundry planned so that DH can pack for his week long work trip tomorrow. Tomorrow is his birthday and we're having the ILs over for dinner. I'm making Cajun shrimp and quinoa casserole, salad, and a dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate whipped cream frosting for that. I'll probably make the frosting today so I don't have as much to do tomorrow afternoon.
Random: anyone ever had serious bruxism/teeth grinding? As in chewed through even the professional mouth guards numerous times, had tooth breakage, etc? What helped?
ETA: We are headed out of town to have lunch with my parents & go to a wedding this evening. It is in a town In lived for better part of a decade, love & miss it, so I'm pretty excited.
@KariAnn323 Oh man, I love antiquing. I haven't gone in so long. Used to help restore old furniture when I was in high school. Mom taught me to refinish, etc. I hope you have a blast. Sounds like an awesome visit. @jrm_14 No help here, just sympathy. That sounds awful.
I work overnight tonight but off during the day today. Hubbie let me sleep in until 9 am and I was so thankful. Didn't get home until midnight last night and wasn't asleep until 1 am. He's going for a run then we're going to go looking for a new TV stand, something with doors hopefully!

H and my dad are outside welding a new bed on my dad's dump truck. I'm doing house work and watching Mr. Popper's penguins.
When H takes a break, I'm going to make him drag down the two bins of Playboy magazines that were left with the house so I can see how much they're all worth. No kidding: we have two 60 Gal. plastic bins in the attic full of Playboy magazines.
@jrm_14 I'm a teeth grinder - bad enough that I'be ground through 2 invisalign retainers and a professional mouthguard. Never broken a tooth, and it doesn't usually cause me problems, but it wakes up MH/keeps him awake. As the professional mouthguards are so expensive, and we don't have dental insurance, I've been using some cheap guards from Walmart that are kinda squishy, and they work pretty well. I have yet to find something that stops me from grinding in the first place though.... hopefully someone else here may have better thoughts? @izza2 We totally have a big box of vintage Playboys too! MH got them at a garage sale with the idea of maybe selling them on eBay someday. You should report back and let us know if you find any rare/valuable ones! ------- AFM, we're at our friend's house, building decks to play Magic: the Gathering. Any MTG players out there?

@hedgepig. I stopped buying the ones from the dentist bc I go through them so easily. I have one of those moldable ones from Wal-Mart that actually has lasted longer. I go to the dentist this week &want to have a plan. She just lectures me & tells me to stop. I've had 3 other dentist do the same. There has to be something when it damages teeth/expidites tooth loss that can help.
Like @kbamomma33 I have lots of laundry planned haha... we just got home from vacay yesterday so I'm tired, and just have things around the house to catch up on. DH works all weekend, but I plan to get out tomorrow to do something fun. TBD.
@izza2 we found boxes of playboys in the crawl space in our old apartment. Most of them were from the 80s and none were valuable, unfortunately. Eventually they found there way to the recycling bin. I hope you have better luck!

So we've separated them by year, and then put them in order by month. These range from 1964 to 1999. Mostly Playboys, but also Penthouse, oui, dude, and other magazines I've never even heard of. I'm only through a few years, but so far most are worth just a few dollars, while others are worth $20. Even if we sold them for $2-3 a piece, we're still looking at a few hundred dollars.
@izza2 That's a pretty amazing find- it would definitely make an interesting study of how trends influenced men's magazines over time.
@kbamomma33 that cake sounds amazing! I want to bake, but I'm feeling too lazy/warm to put the oven on.
I'm just cleaning today, but I'm going to the beach with friends tomorrow. My hair is super curly right now, which I hate wearing in public, but it makes no sense to straighten it before the beach. Normally I would braid it into two pigtails, but I've gotten too many sunburns on my scalp to do that again.
Also, it's July 8th and I have no idea what grade I'll be teaching next year, but I've already seen a million ideas I want to try out in my classroom.

i just lied to a friend and told him all my pants are in the wash. I don't want to do anything today, and if he ropes me into doing stuff, I will literally be doing things all day.
Yay weeding is done! Last year we just let everything go to seed and there were tons of mini cilantro plants everywhere. I felt bad pulling them, but one plant is really enough for us. And I probably should have spaced my tomatoes out a bit more.

@lurvleybunchococonuts I have some veggies in containers and a bed of perennials. I'm hoping I can eventually have it filled and not have to do a lot of stuff with it...I never have time!
I just ordered 15 colors of post-its in hopes of helping to kick DH's bar study into high gear. I'm going to go through his lesson plan, divide by topic, and put each "assignment" (video, essay, etc) on a post-it on the wall. Every time he completes something, he takes the post-it off the wall. Hooray!
....Guys, I don't have any kids, but I'm basically a mother.
(In his defense, he's been working 14+ hour days for the last two weeks, and hasn't actually had any days off at all since early June, but like, seriously, stop scrolling Twitter in your down time.)
@doxiemoxie212 I saw a thing on Pinterest today where you write a reward on a big piece of posterboard, and then cover it with post-its. On each post-it is a different goal or accomplishment, and you take the post it off when you meet that goal. When you take off all of the post-its, you get the reward.
Of course the goals would be very different, but that could be a fun way to help your husband study! I'm definitely doing it if I have first grade next year...and probably to get my husband in the swing of doing housework when he gets back from his deployment.

@pebbledam I got more Pyrex! DH is sooooo thrilled. I feel like I did good though. I limited it to one piece and the actual dealer was there and marked it down to $14 for me. The pattern is Horizon Blue which is the commemorative pattern for the moon landing.
