Re: Weekly Randoms 7/3

  • I have the day off today. I still took the kids to daycare because I had some serious cleaning and organization I wanted to get done. My husband was supposed to be working as well. Come to find out very last minute of course...he gets the day off. And for some reason he thinks he needs to nap. Oh ok. That's neat. I have shit to do. Please go nap outside! So this is probably more of a BF but oh well. I'm super annoyed!
  • @tfrangul ahhh I hate that!!!! Most Sundays I try to get up and clean and for some reason those are the Sundays hubby decides to sleep in. I may slam and make loud noise on purpose :)
  • Loading the player...
  • I can relate to my H and I not being in sync. Originally we agreed to get outside, because the weather has been better, but ultimately he ended up wanting to "get things done around the house," which didn't end up looking like much to me. I forgot that he had plans to go out with friends tonight, so I was rather annoyed with his self centered day and now I'm about to put the toddler to bed.
  • DS is almost three and still wants us to stay in his room with him until he falls asleep. Generally, DH and I take turns with this task, but lately DS has been very momma focused to the point that he has started throwing tantrums if DH puts him to bed. I can't handle this level of drama come September, so I'm trying to have DH and DS tough it out without me, but no one is happy.
  • @CoastalMomma my DS is 1.5 and has been all about Mommy all the sudden. It is stressful but also makes me wonder if they can sense something is different? I don't know. We were trying to ween him from nursing since it's only at bedtime/nap time I figured no big deal. Could not have been more wrong. So looks like tandom feeding is in the future for us which I was totally against at first. I hope bedtime gets better for you all very soon. Have you tried "leaving" to see if that helps? These little nuggets are something else that's for sure! Good luck!

@CoastalMomma my DS is 2 and was recently diagnosed with autism, he has recently become all about mama as well.  I'm sure it's a mixture of the new therapy and baby girl coming soon as we have been setting up for her a lot recently to ensure he's prepared and has some understanding.

This mama Could use a break and some wine!  Someone got us non-alcoholic champagne that I might open up tonight....
  • No major plans today for the 4th, since I have to work tonight, but all I can think about now is a grilled hot dog with ketchup.

  •  we're walking down to our local parade and then going to my parents' for lunch. H plans to grill for dinner.
  • Sunburn Saturday. Sunburn today. Still no AC until tomorrow. Where is the white flag to wave? At least the little man had a great time in the water today and Saturday.
  • @Carebella I can not survive without AC. Sounds horrible.

@lilpoots Given that I'd rather run in the snow than 60 degree weather, and a 70 degree room is too warm for me to sleep, it's been pretty freaking awful. And sleeping on the pullout sofa bed for almost two weeks at 29 and 30 weeks pregnant? I'm tempted to say the former owners should be shot. Oh, and there was a large fire and hour south of here last weekend that some of the efforts to combat had smoke going everywhere and filled our house before we could close all the windows. DH offered to do a hotel a couple of times but between packing, the pets, trying to entertain a toddler in a hotel, and knowing we'd be dropping a ton of money on a new unit... I've been suffering through it. There's been more screen time than I'd like to admit to get through it.
  • @Carebella you are one hell of a woman! I am 100%with you in and do not function well with any sort of warmness. The air is not working here at my work today and of course there is no ventilation in a giant office building. I was all whiny so my regional manager brought me his giant desk fan!! I guess there are some advantages to being pregnant. Lol
But I hope your air is fixed asap!!! I'm sorry you are dealing with all that.
  • Is anyone else nesting? My husband thinks it's funny but this is real life! I need everything done. NOW! But my body of course only lets me do so much. I'm organizing closets and drawers, redoing bedrooms..... please tell me I'm not alone here! Lol
  • Nesting so hard. It's made worse by the fact my MIL is moving in with us in November and we have to get her space ready. I had no idea we had so much crap.
  • @tfrangul, @adoo. It's possible that it has to do with baby girl coming soon. At all other times he is very excited to become a big brother. I ended up sitting in the rocker near the door while DH lay in bed with DS. But last night DS was up so late watching fireworks he didn't complain that I was out of the room at all. New plan: Exhaust the child. But of course that could lead to overexhaustion and backfire on me too.

I also want to clean and organize everything. Unfortunately, I'm on activity restrictions, so I can't do much myself. Fortunately my husband also likes doing that stuff, so I can ask him to do things for me. But I need to prioritize which things I really want him to do and which things really aren't important so I'm not just making him a giant to do list of things that aren't necessary. He already has to do all the cooking, cleaning, yard work, grocery shopping, etc with me needing to rest most of the time, so I don't want to come up with a long list of things that could totally wait until after the baby is born. The struggle is real!
  • Can one of y'all come nesting at my house? I've done nothing to get ready for this baby besides get a bigger car. There is SO much to be done at our house that it's just too overwhelming for me right now. We have furniture to refinish and move and get rid of, things to buy. Ugh! So unprepared compared to when DS was on his way. Help.

@CoastalMomma that's my plan too!  Exhaust said child, but he STILL begs for mommy!  Yesterday was hard, I was having crazy BH and not feeling it.  But mommy snuggles happened right before bed even tho that's daddy's job.

@tfrangul I've been nesting so hard too!  We moved in may and I thought I was good then but now it's just a whole other level!  I have everything ready for baby girl, three sizes of clothes (4 if you count the few newborn pieces) washed, everything I need for her is our cleaned and ready.  My house is pretty much good to go!  I'm packing my hospital bags (DS, DH and self) after my sprinkle on Saturday, I told myself I had to wait until that point.
  • I was pretty excited yesterday when I got home. I guess my nesting rubbed off on my husband! He rearranged our room and put the crib together. We were originally just going to do a bassinet like the other kids but I said let's try this, it will be one less transition to have to deal with. He also got the car seat out and ready to go. @iheartichi We had to get another vehicle a couple months ago also. I love my van! Lol but the nesting just started here within the last couple weeks. You still have time for the crazy! Haha

Has anyone installed the car seat yet?  I just read somewhere that technicians recommend 8 weeks before baby to have car seat installed and inspected?

ETA: I just realized I'm only eight weeks out due to RCS at 39 weeks (Aug 31)
  • So today as I was driving home from motherhood maternity to buy some workout pants ( on sale for 15 bucks!!) I passed a Cousin's Maine Lobster food truck from the show  Shark Tank. I turned around so fast. Needless to say my lunch was delicious.
  • I guess I get to join the super fun club of broken air conditioning this summer. Joy.
  • @tfrangul everybody I know who has gotten a van loves it! I had a hatchback and 2 rear-facing seats would just not fit! I was so sad to get rid of my car. And I sure hope my nesting kicks in soon. I have made a list of things I need to do, hat counts right?

  • My mind would like to nest, but it's not translating to physical activity yet. I just lay around and stress about what I'd like done and cry. Lol

  • Just called for a/c repair for the second time this summer. It's still working, but there's a minor leak in our garage from the unit.

  • Just called for a/c repair for the second time this summer. It's still working, but there's a minor leak in our garage from the unit.
    Possibly a leaky plenum?
  • Our AC has a small leak so we can only run it for like 12 hours a day before it freezes up. We are not going to have it fully fixed until we know we get to keep our house. We have now moved onto dealing with just the attorney and she said the only option left is passing off the back balence in full. Just waiting on numbers so we can figure out what to do. Positive thoughts and prayers please ladies!
  • @tfrangul fx for your family
  • @Sugargirl1019 when my body is up for it on the rare occasion I'll overdo it and get alot of stuff done.  Then I go days/ weeks of nothing happening again.  I feel more drained as the weeks go on,  but still have a lot to do.  I'm hoping I get another random burst of energy here soon.   :#
  • @tfrangul that sounds like a rough situation.  Prayers and thoughts definitely sent your way.
  • So my FIL (who's pretty pessimistic) has totally gotten in my head that we've been scammed by our roofing company, and now I'm super worried we did, despite all the good reviews they have. We had a hail storm back in April, and got a free inspection from them at the end of May, because we saw signs in the yards of 2 other houses they did in our neighborhood, and we thought their new roofs looked good. Our insurance company gave us the check for the first half of the roof, which we signed over to them, and they said they'd probably be able to do our roof at the end of June pending weather. Well it rained almost everyday in June, so I can definitely imagine they got behind schedule. I emailed a few days ago and they emailed me right back saying due to the weather, it would probably be the end of July, and they would email us closer to then to give us an exact date. My FIL asked us about the new roof a few days ago, and said he couldn't believe we gave him any money before anything had been done. He said they're just scamming us now and we'll never see that money again. My FIL is not the most optimistic person by any means though, but it's still gotten in my head. The company has over 78 positive reviews on Facebook, the only bad review is from a guy who tried to break his contract and got fined. They also have a good score from the Better Business Bureau. I feel like I did my research, but I'm also younger and kind of naive when it comes to house stuff. Have any of you guys gotten new roofs before? Is it common to pay part of the insurance money up front, or did we get scammed?
  • I'm a second time home owner and I am a marketing specialist for businesses and 2 of my uncles and my FIL own their own business. It is very common to pay some money upfront. Sounds like you did some research so I would think you are fine. Tell your FIL you appreciate his concern but this is how things are done in 2017.
  • @heatherlynn321 I think it sounds like they just got pushed back with business. Aside from your FIL are you getting any weird vibes from them? I haven't dealt with roofs, but I know it is common to pay a portion up front like that for a lot if not most construction. I would just check in in mid-July and see if they have a firm date for you. GL!
  • @wineren I haven't had any weird vibes, but my FIL brings it up a lot, and you can only hear something so many times before you start to have second thoughts. Until he said something, I felt great about them. I think it will be fine, but the money thing did scare me when he mentioned it could be a scam. It seemed fine to me at the time, but after he said something, it was like crap, did someone steal thousands of dollars from me. I posted to my neighborhood group today, and so far someone said they were great to work with, so that makes things feel a lot more legitimate now. Hopefully the weather will let up some and it will be done at the end of July.

    Thanks @wineren and @tfrangul!
  • Sorry for being so MIA lately. The stress of getting our home ready to be put on the market and just getting our lives together to prep for this little girl and spending time with friends before we move out of the area has consumed us, and I haven't been internetting.

  • @labby18 it has been a ghost town around here lately! Glad you are doing well!
  • Whenever anyone asks me "How are you feeling/doing?"; knowing with the implication in their voice, they are asking because I'm pregnant, I say "Great" and then with the exact same tone ask them the same question.
