Re: Wednesday Ticker Change 7/5

  • 1) How far along are you / how big is baby? 22 weeks! Size of guinea pig!

    2) How are you feeling? My anxiety is awful these days. I don't know if it's the other stressful things that have been going on or my anxiety issues acting up. Either way, it sucks. I keep having panic attacks that something awful is going to happen to DH, I think that might be a result of the two accidents we've been in the last 7 months on our commute. But I find myself laying awake at night with a million awful scenarios running through my head, obsessing about every little thing. Ugh. And my emotions are all over the damn place. Andplusalso, pregnancy brain. This girl emailed me today saying we had spoke and wanted to follow-up, guys I literally have no recollection of this convo. This is very unusual for me, I have an amazing memory... wth?

    3) Any appointments this week?  Prenatal dental appt today...does that count?

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions? Working from home today and have already been SO productive. I get so much more done at home than I do when I am in the office. Waiting for the glass people to show up and fix my windshield just hoping that all goes well so I can take that off my plate of crap to stress about.

    5) GTKY: What holiday / special day are you most excited to celebrate with baby? I love holidays, I've been majorly slacking this year on decorating and probably will around Christmas too given when LO is due, but I am super excited to celebrate Halloween and his bday.

  • 1) How far along are you / how big is baby? 22 weeks, Sea Monkey is the size of a coconut.

    2) How are you feeling? Pretty good, overdid it on the hiking this past weekend but it was worth it!

    3) Any appointments this week? Nope, thought I had one on Friday but apparently it is NEXT Friday.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions? Heartburn started this past week. With DD by the 3rd tri, water gave me heartburn. Not excited to do this part again, even tho I know it will be 100% worth it in the end.

    5) GTKY: What holiday / special day are you most excited to celebrate with baby? (stolen from Tuesday ticker change b/c I liked the question) Christmas! I am a big Christmas gal so yay, tho I doubt it will be terribly fun with a newborn. DD was 10 months, her first Christmas, and was able to really get into the lights, music, and decorations. First birthday is soooo much fun too.

@jess0211 Have you tried journaling to help with the anxiety? I find exercise (which doesn't happen as regularly as I wish it would these days) and journaling do wonders for my anxiety. Talk about it with your H and your Dr they may be able to help you through it too.

  • @sarahunderthesea thanks so much! Exercising is my go-to as well. I try to do it every day but the past week we've had a lot going on so it hasn't been as much as I'd like. I try to talk to DH but I think he gets overwhelmed and also feels helpless, I feel like I am causing him more stress. I should try journaling, I've never been great at it.
I love Christmas too! I doubt this year I'll get into it too much though. Sorry about the heartburn, I've been getting it off and on as well. Not fun at all.

  • 1) How far along are you / how big is baby?
I will be 22 weeks tomorrow!
    2) How are you feeling?
Good - can't complain too much. I have started getting swollen feet and hands, though, probably exacerbated by the humid Philly weather - not cute! It's motivating me to put my feet up more, and soak them at night.
    3) Any appointments this week?
I had an OB appointment on Monday, and we listened to the heartbeat and heard some kicks and flips. DH missed the past couple so he was really excited to hear it!
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
How are others handling the weight gain question? I have purposely not paid attention to it up until this point so I don't obsess, but I'm worried I'm getting into some bad habits that will be hard to break after the little guy is born (lots of sweets). Anyone else have a sane way of handling pregnancy eating?
    5) GTKY: What holiday / special day are you most excited to celebrate with baby? (stolen from Tuesday ticker change b/c I liked the question)
I love Christmas, so I'll be excited to share that with the baby! He will be really young, though, so I doubt he'll be very aware of the holiday until next year. I also love Easter in the spring, and can't wait to fill a little basket for him. So much to look forward to!

@jess0211 I second the journaling idea! I always feel much better after I get some of these thoughts and feelings down on paper. Also, if you have any fears about birth itself (I definitely have some) I have found the Birthing From Within book to be helpful.
  • @buhundbae I keep reminding myself that I need to gain weight because that means baby is growing well (hopefully).

I try to satisfy my sweet tooth with fruits; peaches and watermelon are wonderful right now, but I also can't stay away from the sour gummy worms, so I portion them out and one bring one serving with me to work. I keep the rest in the cupboard because I find "out of sight, out of mind" to be really true.

    1) How far along are you / how big is baby? 21 Weeks, size of a carrot I think.

    2) How are you feeling? Good overall, can't really complain. My back hasn't been aching more so I'm thinking of doing a prenatal massage - anyone and one? Is it worth it?

    3) Any appointments this week? Next Monday for follow up A/S although I already know it went well so I'm not nervous as I usually am with other appointments.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions? Not really! I'm excited with how far along I am but I also just want November to hurry up and get here so I can meet this LO already!

    5) GTKY: What holiday / special day are you most excited to celebrate with baby? (stolen from Tuesday ticker change b/c I liked the question) Thanksgiving is my favorite so I just hope baby isn't overdue and comes on time so we can celebrate! I also love Christmas so I'm excited for both. I basically love the fall/holiday season, its just the best!

@jess0211 I'm sorry you're having such a hard time! I have always been an anxious person but pregnancy made me realize just how much anxiety I really have. I can't imagine how we will all feel once the babies are here and we have little humans to worry about! Hugs to you friend!

I struggle with the weight stuff too, I just try and remember it's all for the good of the baby and I also try just to not keep any sweets at home so I wont be tempted. @buhundbae

  • buhundbae I struggle with worrying about the weight gain. I try to satisfy my cravings with fruit or s piece of hard candy now and then. Admittedly I like my ice cream once in awhile too. I worry every time the doctor weighs me though he'll say I have gained too much. I think it's a normal worry. Glad your appt went well! Thanks for the book recommendation. Ugh, I've barely thought about the birthing process yet haha

@safinn21 thanks! I don't know what changed in the last week to heighten it, probably a combination of things. I also LOVE all things Fall! My favorite time of the year for sure.

  • I think it comes with the teritory of seeing the scales read numbers higher than you've seen before or are used to . I know I'm still 4kg over what I should of gained so far but no one else seems worried midwife is happy doc is happy Noone seems to think it's a problem I still struggle I think knowing I'm healthy , eating well and exercising and still the weight goes up
Even tho you know it's all good and supposed to be that way it still is a cause of uncontrolled worry
