I have heard of it... we thought about it last time but then decided to just be patient as it isn't always accurate. I think the anticipation of the 20 week AS helped me get through early pregnancy!
@heatherdubrow Ive never used it myself but there are some great reviews, especially on Amazon.. there are SOME negative as there is for anything out there.. with my first one I just knew it was a girl but I'm just tempted to try and and see if it's correct... The negative reviews are mostly for it being a bit difficult to collect the blood they need. Because you prick your finger and you have to disinfect the area really well bc its looking for the Y chromosome so its very specific about no men (or boys) allowed in the room while gathering the blood
I just looked over it and think I will pass, even though I'm the most impatient person on the planet. I feel weird about sticking myself with a product form an un-known company. With the amount of wrong result reviews I read, I think I'll save my fingers, my money, and my sanity.
@Ktjennks: I actually didn't mean that to be snarky at all. That was just my honest opinion. Don't get me wrong, I'll probably hit up the local private sonographer at 14 weeks. She has only been wrong once in over 9 years.
*tw* I ordered it when I was pregnant last year & miscarried at 9+2, so I never did it. May very well be wrong, but I am super impatient. Annnnnnd, because I have had 2 consecutive miscarriages I will likely have NIPT done, and know early to compare.
I've heard of this. It's a little expensive for me, though. I already know we're going to a boutique at 14-16 weeks and I'm about to blow a lot on prime day next week should probably save some money lol It will be interesting to see others' results, though
Funny story - Last time around, at my NT scan, my tech took a fun guess and said she was 70% sure it was a boy, but it was just too early to call. I went to a boutique around 14 weeks because my mom lives all the way across the country, and I wanted her to be able to see the baby on ultrasound when we visited her. I knew it was super early, but they said it was very clearly a girl. Then before Christmas, my OB asked if I wanted him to wrap a colored ornament so my husband and I could open on Christmas for a revel, and I took him up on it. We opened it on Christmas...boy. Fast forward to the anatomy scan a few weeks later with the tech - "So you said your OB told you that you're having a boy? Because this is definitely a girl!"
What a rollercoaster. We didn't care if it was a boy or girl, but once you hear it, you start picturing your life with whatever they say, picking names, etc. When we moved after the anatomy scan, and I asked my new OB to tell me what it was, she said this is for sure a girl. I finally trusted that we were actually having a girl and started buying things for the nursery, and we did in fact have a girl. Another person on my previous BMB was told they were having a girl and found out in their third trimester that it was a boy.
My OB offers an optional 15-16 week ultrasound to determine the sex. It's $50 but I'll probably spend the money again this time because I love getting to plan nursery décor/names/etc. early.
I didn't know this kind of thing existed. We did the materniT21 test with my son (my NT screen labs came back abnormal for my age), so we found out at 13-14 weeks he was a boy. I think my REs office does it (or harmony or whatever they call it here), but I think we are going to be team green this time around.

Maybe I should just do a blood test this time.
