Waiting Room Wednesday - July 5

edited July 2017 in Babies on the Brain

***General TW that this thread might contain discussions mentioning MC and loss.***

Welcome to Waiting Room Wednesday!

You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on not TTC and connect with others who are in the same boat. TTC can be a long journey, and having to wait makes it feel even longer -- even if it is for a good reason. I invite you to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Benched = involuntarily not NTNP/TTC and "out of the game," usually due to medical reasons

TTA = avoiding pregnancy by using protection or FAM, usually for non-health-related reasons __________________________________________________________________

Are you benched or TTA?

What brings you here?

How long do you think you'll be here?

How have things been going?

Any R/R?

Re: Waiting Room Wednesday - July 5

  • Good Morning Ladies! I hope everyone is having a good week :)

Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? It's been quite a wait so I wanted some company :) I was waiting on grad school, DH's timeline, and work stuff.

How long do you think you'll be here? Not very much longer!!! I think that this will be my second to last waiting room post. Next Friday should be CD1 and even though it is one cycle earlier than I was thinking - we are going to start!

How have things been going? Pretty well! I am getting excited that I am actually going to start TTC.

    Any R/R? nope

GTKY: How would you describe your style? What's your favorite thing to wear? Lularoe is my jam right now. So comfortable and easy - plus I can wear it to work. I am so addicted :#

What brings you here? Support and killing time until its go time

How long do you think you'll be here? Hopefully not longer than November or December

How have things been going? Better now that I finally talked to DH about a timeline and he convinced me that financially we can make another baby happen.

Any R/R? not that I can think of

GTKY: How would you describe your style? What's your favorite thing to wear?  I love love love Anthopologie, but the cute casual and a bit different stuff, not the over the top dog print sweaters and the like. But its so expensive, sigh.  I also love a good broken in pair of well fitting jeans and a really worn out vintage wash style t-shirt.  I feel like myself and confident.

@glitzandglitter You've probably mentioned it before, but what are you in grad school for?  I'm jealous, I would be a career student if I could afford it, BUT I only want to take classes I want to take!
  • @Kfrob - I am getting a masters in education. I have really enjoyed it but will be happy to be done :)
  • @glitzandglitter - SO exciting you're about to start TTC!  Best of luck!  :)

@Kfrob - We're kind of on the same TTC timeline!  :)  Hoping the time between Nov/Dec passes very quickly for both of us.  Also, I love Anthropologie too but can't justify the expense either!  If I got a significant promotion though I would shop there all the time though!

    Are you benched or TTA?

    TTA

    What brings you here?

Waiting until we're ready to TTC, dealing with the baby fever and impatience.

How long do you think you'll be here?

Until the 1st week of December!  5 months.

    How have things been going?

Okay, I guess.  Been frustrated re: weight loss and just accepted the fact that I really need to calorie count every day, even weekends, if I actually want to lose these last 10 pounds.  So I'm starting that today and keeping it up until my doctor's appointment at the end of August, with my goal being to have lost those pesky 10 pounds by then.  (Hopefully sooner!)

I've been kind of sporadic about participating here, but I find it hard/depressing sometimes since we still have five months to wait, and then other times I feel like I really need to chat with people who are also impatiently waiting!  Sorry for the back and forth in participation.

    Any R/R?

Rave - we went to the California Science Center with DD on July 4th and it was a blast.  I had no idea they had so many play areas for toddlers and it wasn't crowded at all because it was a holiday.  One of the better times we've had as a family.  So much fun to watch her explore and I love her current age so much (she'll be 17 months on the 8th.)

GTKY: How would you describe your style? What's your favorite thing to wear?

I guess I'd say classic?  I wear dresses and black or black patterned things a lot.  I would love to be a bit more adventurous with my style, but I've decided to wait until I'm done with pregnancies before investing in a new wardrobe.

  • @maureenmce - I have been so bad about the weight loss :( I wasn't really losing so I got frustrated and kinda gave up now I have gained back the little I did lose. It sucks! I hope you are able to lose those last 10 lbs.
The wait can be so hard. I'm glad you have a timeline though and I hope the five months pass quickly for you.
  • KFrobKFrob member
@maureenmce I'm also with you on the 10 pounds!  I'm trying to stay really positive about the next 5/6 months or so and use this time to drop those last 10 lbs I have left and get back in shape to be healthy and ready for pregnancy #2.  I was so in shape when I got pregnant with Harper and I feel like it made my pregnancy and delivery easy.  Plus I don't want to get stuck gaining the same amount of weight, only starting out 10 lbs heavier.   A significant promotion would equal soooo much Anthropologie!  I add things to my wish list all the time hoping they go on clearance and then when they do I still can't afford them lol.

@glitzandglitter - Yay for being so close to starting!!
@KFrob - So glad that you were able to get a timeline down!

Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? Nursing school

How long do you think you'll be here? Another 1.5 months

How have things been going? Decent

Any R/R? H and I have had a few more discussions about TTGP over the past week. Sunday we went to a grad party for a friend's son, where the friend and his wife spent half the time talking about us TTGP and asking when we were going to "give them a baby". Which, was humorous at first and then got really annoying quick. I usually tell people we have a timeline to start TTC and they calm their tits and leave it alone, but these two were so at it I was starting to get aggravated. They really seemed to think that their pestering was going to make us go home and start TTGP right away.

GTKY: How would you describe your style? What's your favorite thing to wear? I'm usually in either scrubs or business casual, so dress pants and a comfy shirt. I have a few LLR tops I wear, but I'm up for pretty much anything as long as it's comfortable. When I'm at home it's usually leggings and a tank top or one of my summer dresses.

  • @izza2 - why do people feel the need to weigh in on when and if other people are having kids?! Ugh!
    When do you finish school?
  • izza2izza2 member
@glitzandglitter - It never used to bother me before we TTC previously, because I was always like "never, go away". I didn't want kids before meeting H, and then when I got into the idea, I was never vocal about it, so I was able to stick with the "no" answer and no one would be taken aback.
I graduate next May (2018), but I only have 4 classes total to take before graduating (two in person and two online) and just can't take them any quicker, unfortunately.

@izza2 I was the same way until I met my H.  I was a firm "no" and as I got older I was sort of indifferent. I feel like a change like that makes more impatient!

  • @glitzandglitter Yay, I'm so happy that you'll be starting soon! :D I'm totally excited for you!

@KFrob That's very good news that you and your DH talked about everything. The financial aspect was something I had to talk to mine about, since that scared the pants off of him. Right now, we're leaning toward October/November, so right around the same time as you!

@maureenmce I have no advice on the weight loss, but I hope you're able to make your goal. As far as I'm concerned, you're the only person who can determine if this is a good place for you to be while you're waiting. So I would never judge you for taking time away if you feel you need to :) That sounds awesome that you guys had a good time at the Science Center!

@izza2 I honestly don't know why people feel they have the right to ask questions like that. It's none of their business. I hope your last few classes go quickly!

Are you benched or TTA? TTA! :D

What brings you here? The conversation! It's nice to have people to talk to who get it.

How long do you think you'll be here? We're hoping to start once I've been back at work for three or four months, so probably October or November!

How have things been going? Last week was awful. *TW* When my sister had her baby, I basically had a meltdown. It wasn't fun. I think part of it had to do with my PMDD, but that didn't make it any easier. I'm still ticked that she got pregnant right after my wedding. *end TW*

Any R/R? Rave: I go back to work on Monday! I have a transfer class (since I'm going from one line of business to another), and then Tuesday is my property orientation. I don't know what my schedule is after that, but I'll probably get it on Tuesday. Apparently the HR rep who contacted me to offer me the position didn't realize I was on leave, so my schedule got sent over to my old location, which I haven't been at since February, lol. So it's a good thing I contacted them today.

GTKY: How would you describe your style? What's your favorite thing to wear? Classic, for the most part. I like wearing dresses. A lot of plus size fashion is really bizarre and expensive, so I don't buy clothes very often.

  • @maureenmce I feel you on the weight loss thing. I started weight watchers a few months ago and was tracking everything and I lost 9lbs and felt really good about myself. Then I had a really busy/stressful 3 weeks and completely fell off the wagon and started eating like crap again. I haven't weighed myself but I looked at some photos my mom took of me and DS at the beach today and I do not feel good about myself at all. Time to reinvest and get back on track.

Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? Fanning my baby fever while trying to convince my one and done husband to change his mind.

How long do you think you'll be here? Somewhere between 6 months and indefinitely.

How have things been going? Ok. We've been using the pull & pray method (I know, I know, but DH insists it'll work and I'd be thrilled if I got pregnant so I'm totally ok with it) and he mentioned a few days ago that he was a little...late...in the pulling portion. I got irrationally hopeful that I could be pregnant. Kinda bummed about it now that I've come down from the excitement.

Any R/R? I go back to work next Thursday. I've been off for 12 months (Canadian) and I am so not okay with it.

GTKY: How would you describe your style? What's your favorite thing to wear? I'm a jeans and tshirt girl. I do enjoy dressing up but my favourite thing is probably slipping back into comfy pj pants at the end of a dressy night out.

  • @jennyleigh16 - Where are you from? I'm from Alberta. I went back to work after 13 months and even though it was really hard at the beginning, it gets better.
  • @glitzandglitter Hooray for next Friday!  That's so exciting!

@maureenmce Ugh, I wore some pants yesterday that I hadn't worn since last summer, and they're tighter now than when I was 6 months postpartum.  So yeah, I really need to work on eating better and getting more exercise.

@izza2 I don't know why people don't understand that it's pretty much never cool to quiz people about their reproductive plans.  It's just so personal on so many levels. People with good news will share it when they're ready, so those who aren't sharing have either no news or bad news.  Also, baby planning and making is hard enough without trying to account for everyone else's feelings and curiosity.

    Are you benched or TTA?

TTA.  IUD comes out on the 17th!

    What brings you here?

I don't feel comfortable talking about baby plans and baby making with real world people other than DH.  And he really doesn't want to talk about it as much as I do, nor can he relate to a lot of it.

How long do you think you'll be here?

'Til the 17th!  AND, based on what seems to be my period these days, I think that may actually be CD1.  But I'm not sure, one of the perks of the IUD is that my period is just really light spotting.  On the other hand, I might stick around here after I'm officially TTC.  It really is pretty chill, and TTGP, while not as scary as I feared, is pretty intense.

    How have things been going?

Pretty good.  I think I've been having psychosomatic pregnancy symptoms since we set a timeline.  Things like exhaustion and peeing all the time.  But also gas bubbles that feel like baby movements.  Seriously, I'm planning on taking a HPT tomorrow just to reassure myself that I'm not.  But I'm pretty sure it was only a month or so ago that I peed on a stick because my hips hurts while I was sleeping, and my very sleepy brain was sure that they had only hurt like that while pregnant.  And I wasn't pregnant then, so there's no way that I'm feeling baby movements.  And I would just be excited at the prospect, but I think it's actually really dangerous to get pregnant with an IUD.  So if I just get a negative test tomorrow, I can focus on pregnancy as a good thing and stop there.

    Any R/R?

Last year, our bank changed it's website, and it's such a pain in the butt now.  Our mortgage now has two extra lines every month, one with $100 debit that has no effect on any of the balances, and then a $100 "special adjustment" credit that has no effect on the balances.  What the hell?

GTKY: How would you describe your style? What's your favorite thing to wear?

I don't feel like I really have a style?  I prefer jeans and cute shirts and sweaters.  I don't like to stand out, and I like to be comfortable.  I try to at least look put together, but I don't like to spend a lot of money or time on clothes.

  • @Secretstapler - You are getting so close to TTC! The ladies here are very chill and you are more than welcome to stay.
  • izza2izza2 member
@Secretstapler - I'll definitely be hanging here while TTC, too. I'm on TTGP as well and adore the ladies there, but BOTB has kind of become it's own little chillaxed niche.

  • @dreamscapes_ I'm sorry :( That's rough. Hopefully the time will pass quicker for you since you will be back at work (time goes slower for me when I am not a work.) How has your back been doing?

@Jennyleigh16 - I am jealous US maternity leave sucks. Going back is rough at first but it does get better once you get in a routine again.

@secretstapler - this is a reason I love it here too! My DH's eyes glaze over when I start talking babies lol. He has no idea - if I talked about it as much as I thought about it he would think I lost my mind! You are more than welcome to stay here for TTC. I think personally I will do both TTGP and here. When I first came here it was pretty dead but I felt out of place on TTGP because I was still so far away. I love how this board has livened up :)
  • @Secretstapler You're absolutely welcome to stick around here once you start :) I'm probably going to do the same. The TTGP board kind of terrifies me, to be honest, so I'm not sure if I'll post there or just continue lurking. That line on your bank's website is really strange. Do they have a reason for doing that?

@glitzandglitter I'm hoping time will pass quickly, too. But still! Halloween's just around the corner :D My back is about the same as always. I actually lost the prescription for my new muscle relaxer and have been trying to get a hold of my doctor to get a new copy with no success yet. It's not covered under my insurance anyway, though.

  • @ChloandCoco I'm in Ontario. Just outside Ottawa.

    @glitzandglitter
I know I'm totally spoiled! I know Canadians are very lucky to have the year but then it's so hard after having a little shadow for a full year.

I know we'll be fine a month from now. It just kills me a little to think of him without me wondering where mommy is for the first while. Gah!

  • @maureenmce I think losing the last 10 pounds is hard! I would like to lose 10 pounds after losing the weight I gained while pregnant, but I worked so hard and long to do that, I feel like I want to give myself a "break", even though I know exercise and clean eating is better. It's a real mental struggle.

Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? Just waiting to TTC until my son is 16 months since we would rather not have 2 under 2! But I has the baby fever.

How long do you think you'll be here? 2 months

How have things been going? We bought our last box of condoms last week. Reaching the 2 month mark makes TTC seem so close!

Any R/R? Well, I'm stil breastfeeding and my cycle has not returned. So even though we want to TTC in September, it may feel more like NTNP since I can't really chart or know if and and when I'm ovulate. Also, we don't have sex very much, but hopefully TTC will be more motivation.

GTKY: How would you describe your style? What's your favorite thing to wear? Comfy cute? I'm getting in to LLR now.
