Bleeding after bleeding has already stopped

Hi!
I was just wondering if anyone out there has had this problem. I am 6 was PP am doing I stopped bleeding a week or so ago. Today I started bleeding again. I am EBF so I thought I wasn't supposedly to get my period, at least I didn't with my first. I have a dr appt tomorrow for my 6wk visit but I just thought I'd ask anyway.

  • Mine came back a little too. If I remember correctly a few of us experienced it. But I also got my first period 7 weeks pp.

  • Were you bf-ing?
  • Yes. With my second I got my period back right away despite bfing for 10 months.

  • My Dr said if it goes and comes back it can be a sign your being too active

This happened to me around the same time or maybe around 8 weeks with my first two kids. It was a full period amount of blood and for that amount of time (about a week). I thought it was my first period coming. Then nothing for 7 months! Even when it happened a second time I was sure it was my first period coming, but again, nothing for 7 months. I'm nearly 7 weeks pp right now and I'm just waiting for this "period" once more, but feel confident I won't REALLY get my period for at least 5 months or so.

FWIW I also had with each pregnancy and the most this time "backwards" progress with lochia, which is to say red blood after it had decreased and changed color. This time was the most troubling and the time that I got some treatment/monitoring for it because I had some big gushes of blood around 2 weeks pp. Not quite a hemorrhage but that's what we were concerned about. That seems to have all gone away by now, though! They do say "you're being too active" in that case but I swore my activity level had been extremely minimal during this time!

I was told by several doctors that this is a normal thing to expect around 6-8 weeks and not to worry
  • Thanks everyone! I went to my 6wk appt and my dr said the same thing. It's actually started to subside now.
