I know it's bitchfest Monday, but we've got Happy Monday as an alternative today

Saturday we met up with my SO's family. My SIL (his brother's wife) is 29 weeks pregnant. It's been really nice being able to share experiences with her. His sister (SIL2) and her DH just returned from holiday and had a small gift for both of us: a small rabbit teddy bear. SO's mom then had a gift for them and SIL2 goes 'Oh look, I got one too' and she holds up her rabbit teddy bear. So now all of us are pregnant! She's almost 13 weeks. I'm just so incredibly excited!! It's like real life TB

I'm hoping for a great Monday, so that I can hold on to this feeling

Anyone else got happy news to share?

Today is day three of my four day weekend so I'm feeling pretty happy. I made a lot of progress with DDs new room so I can get her moved soon. We had a great weekend with lots of food and fun. Today I'm going to relax!

@FakeFinn I'm so jealous of you right now. Unfortunately my little girl and this new LO do not have any cousins and it does break my heart a little bit. Also, I don't see it happening anytime soon either.

@FakeFinn How fun will it be for your LO to have so many cousins so close together!

We spent the majority of the weekend getting the nursery ready to be painted today! My mom and friend are painting it today while DH and I are at work! We bought all the stuff to create a new closet, blinds, and a new ceiling fan. I am SO excited to decorate the nursery! Shit is getting real, haha!

@FakeFinn I'm slightly jealous of all the cousins your lo will have. My husband and I are both the oldest and our siblings are just no where near having babies. I hope someday my kids will have some cousins to play with!

Im happy today because a friend of a friend recently became a certified ultrasound tech and needs "practice hours". So Thursday I get a free ultrasound and I'm thrilled to see baby and really hoping she can tell me the sex, too. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I'm so curious to know if we are team blue or pink!

FakeFinn yay for cousins!! Our LOs will have a lot but they'll be the youngest (unless my Lothario brother impregnates someone) by a few years as I think all of DH's siblings are finished having kids. My older is 15 months and my youngest nephew is 4 this month.

My Happy Monday is that even though I have to work today, it's shaping up to be a pretty uneventful day. In fact, I think it's going to be a pretty uneventful next few weeks so that is certainly something to look forward to. Lame, but I'll take small victories.

Oh my goodness! I would get SO MANY ultrasounds!

I've been miserably sick all weekend. Had my OB appointment today and the NP gave me a doctors note to stay home this week. I was only scheduled to work Tuesday and Thursday, but it's going to be such a huge help in getting over this for good, especially since I start full time next week.

We got a $20 glider/ottoman from a garage sale (so comfy!), along with a little bouncer seat thing and a basketball/soccer interactive play thing (obviously for when LO is older, but still!). We also got an ugly end table for $3 that we sanded and refinished and I'm really excited to put in the entry way! I was skeptical when DH said he wanted to go to garage sales, but it was really successful. I also started our registries (just barely, but still).

I'm jealous of all the cousins! DH's cousin has two kids, so they'll have second cousins who will be more like first cousins. They live a flight away though and we don't see them all that often. None of my three siblings seem to be anywhere near having kids (and they're all older than me) and neither are DH's two sisters. My sister is 36 and I really think she does want kids, but she's made comments that they probably won't have any, so we'll see.

@ktcakes87 I'm in awe that you're already ready to paint! We've got a stack of projects before we can empty out the nursery-to-be/current-office. We've tackled one so far.

I'm excited because the backyard bees are finally GONE. The last few stragglers are wondering where their hive went, but the big buzzy mess is gone gone gone. There's a lot of clean up to do this week, but that's okay by me. They were re-homed to an agricultural area that needs them more than our (sadly broken) jacuzzi did, and the apiary service saved about 6lbs of honey for us out of the hive. The broken jacuzzi leaves soon too! YAY!

We also checked out a couple second hand baby stuff stores this weekend. (The Baby Exchange in La Mesa and El Cajon, for any San Diego mamas out there. The El Cajon store has a much larger selection of big things like furniture and rockers, but the La Mesa store has a lot of clothes through 5T.) We found a cross-body Skip Hop bag for DH, brand new and just what he wants in a baby stuff / messenger bag for <$25.

We're pretty comfortable now with the idea of waiting and picking out a swing / bouncer / play mat / etc at about half price or better when kiddo gets here, rather than registering for these space-grabby things (that we have no space for) all at once.

Our DD is also sans first cousins (DH is an only child, and my bro and sis-in-law say no kids for them) but has lots of 2nd cousins. My cousin/BFF's son is 2 months older than she is, my other cousin's baby was born the day after DD, and DH's cousin had a baby about a month before DD. There are others, but those are the ones really close in age. I wish we were closer to all of them (geographically), but it's still really fun! I don't think this LO will have cousins quite so close, but since DD is only going to be 16.5 months older, those that are close to her will still be pretty close to this one. And our dear friends just had twins in June, so they'll be close in age, too!

Happy Monday for me because DD is 11 months old today (also sad Monday--how is my baby growing so fast????

) and DH thinks he will get off early, so we can have some nice family time today and tomorrow! Working on planning a low-key 1st bday party at my mom's for DD. (My family and a lot of our friends live 3 hours away, where we used to live, so we are going to do a party there before her birthday and then DH's parents are going to come visit us for her birthday, so she'll get double celebrations)

My mom asked for 1st birthday present suggestions, so if anyone has ideas, lay them on me! DH's parents got her a bucket-style swing for the backyard, which she'll be able to use for a while, so that's taken care of!

@kyrwyn the room being turned into the nursery was already empty, so that made it 100% easier to get started! All we had to do was rip up the carpet and tear out the closet!

Cousins are a lot fun! So nice to have them be the same age as LO.

We had an early BBQ this weekend. It was nice to see some close friends and announce. They are so excited for us. I also got to clean the house a little which made me feel happy.

Thanks everyone! My SILs are having their second and third child, so my PILs will have double the amount of grandchildren in a 4-5 month timespan

We're all looking forward to having babies so close in age to each other! In my family it's a bit different: this is grandchild no.1 My brother is alone, so there are no other babies in the imminent future.

@jlemons-2: what colour scheme are you going with for your DD's room?

@cait5413: That's almost not a baby anymore! :O My go-to's are Lego and books. Lego has some great sets for babies and for 18 month olds and up, could that be an idea?

No cousins for LO here as it is the first baby on both sides. (Will get to be spoiled though! Haha)

my happy Monday is that we just got the date of our anatomy scan and it's DH bday! He gets a fun present

can't wait to find out the sex! Then we can really get moving on the nursery.

aw this thread is so cool! im grateful/happy that we finally got out of dc basement apartment living. and we now have a house with GASP* a KITCHEN. i cant tell you how crazy it is to be like I want a sandwich and not have to wait for 30 min from uber eats. its pretty awesome. its also crazy to live in a place that has more than 3 rooms total (including bathroom/bedroom/kitchen/livingroom). And the place has two floors! wowza i feel like im on lifestyles of the rich and famous LOL

I know it's Tuesday already..
We got back from WA state late Saturday, and my MIL brought our dogs back home so they'd be here when we got home, and so we wouldn't have to make any stops on the way home. She also CLEANED my entire kitchen and living room!! I had already started making a list of what needed to be done before vacation was over, and cleaning was at the top of my list! I was overjoyed with my clean house and got to relax the last 2 days before going back to work tomorrow
