  • 1) How far along are you?
21 weeks! I cannot believe it! I think I was so focused on getting to 20 that now it all seems to be going by so fast!

    2) How are you feeling?
SO MUCH BETTER! I really think my doctor had be overdosing on BP meds and now that it is regulated I feel 1000% better. Some of the 2nd/3rd try symptoms are starting to creep in but they are not too sever just yet.

    3) Any appointments this week?
    None for me...for once!

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I am loving that the MS is finally easing up. I have begun to crave an egg sandwich every morning. So thankful my husband makes the BEST eggs!

    5) GTKY: What baby item(s) intimate you the most? Are you worried about buying the "right" carseat? Crib?
Things have changed a lot since I purchased a lot of these items. I am good on the carseat because I do have a 4 year old so I am kinda in the loop. We have also bought our crib but I am struggling to purchase a mattress. I REALLY what to go with a memory foam type, but afraid this is not a good choice. It is not really based in my research, but just a gut instinct! Anyway, I want everything to be "perfect" since we are buying everything again, which is just me putting undue pressure on myself! ah!

    1) How far along are you?
    21 weeks!
    2) How are you feeling?
Pretty good - standard stomach or RLP, and most days I'm still lacking energy/motivation so I wish that would pick back up, but honestly I can't complain.
    3) Any appointments this week?
    Nothing!
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
My face skin has been extremely dry which is just so unusual given how humid it's been! And this week I've been really trying to analyze whether I'm eating enough - I can usually trust my body re: hunger but I've been all over the place - not hungry when I probably should be, and then sometimes going from zero to STARVING so I'm trying to snack more but this makes me not always hungry at meal time with DH so I'm just not figuring out a good pattern yet.
    5) GTKY: What baby item(s) intimate you the most? Are you worried about buying the "right" carseat? Crib?
Good question! Everything usually seems overwhelming to me until I really start digging into the products and reviews and then I get some clarity. But lately what intimidates me the most is SO silly and it's bottles. I just have Zero clue what to purchase, how many will I need, should I just get a few different styles to see what she prefers (this is what I'm leaning toward). But THEN to see that there are different nipple flows and I have NO clue what my milk flow will be! I'm just like - hands in the air turn around I'm outta here - there is no way I'm going to pick the right one off the bat.

@cottingham3 It's so good that your BP meds are being better regulated and that the lower dose is making you feel better!
I haven't started the crib/mattress purchase yet but maybe that'll be next week's project to look into. But you should go with your gut if it's telling you something might be off - it's probably based on something after all! For me I often just keep reading reviews and suddenly something just "clicks" and someone describes just what I'm hoping for, or a culmination of positive feedback sways me one way or another.

  • 1. 19 weeks
    2. Feeling better and better :)
    3. Had AS yesterday. It's a girl! 20 week appt is next Friday.
    4. More of just a statement... tech confirmed anterior placenta, so I'm trying to relax about not feeling much baby movement yet.
    5. With my first, I researched the hell out of everything... car seat, crib, breast pump, etc. In the end, everything will be used for a third time, so I guess it has all worked out.
  • 1) How far along are you?
20 weeks!! Woohoo it's finally halfway time!

    2) How are you feeling?
Pretty good! Still a tiny bit nauseous in mornings but not bad. Just still need carbs in the morning.

    3) Any appointments this week?
    I have one on Monday

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave- I have been feeling th baby move a lot more now and I love it!

    5) GTKY: What baby item(s) intimate you the most? Are you worried about buying the "right" carseat? Crib?i researched a ton before DS was born and there we only a couple things I'll sell and replace. One being our infant car seat. We got the Britax b safe 35 elite and it's aoooooooo heavy!!!! When BRS has their trade in event we'll trade it in for a maxi cosi, one of the lightest on the market.

Bouncer - ours took up a ton of room so I think we'll sell it and get a jumper that's smaller.

    Good things:
i still love our city select stroller and am so pumped that all we have to do is buy an extra seat and it converts to a double!!!!

-Still happy with our choice of crib! It's a convertible so right now it's being used as a toddler bed but when baby needs it DS will get a bed.

-Halo bassinet- I loved this with my son! It made nursing him at night so easy, and I was so relieved to have such a safe way for him to be right next to me!

    -carriers - I have a K'Tan and a Lillebaby, and I love them both!!!!

@cottingham3- I am so glad that your doc figured out the right dosage and you feel better!

@car1a With bottles, are you planning to breastfeed and use them to supplement? When I did my research two years ago it seemed that como tomo and chicco natural bottles were the best. But the best way to get your baby to take any bottle is to start when they are three weeks old (after breastfeedijg is established) and keep up with one bottle a day. This is what my Ped suggested to me and it worked, my son always took a bottle a day. It was so nice, I could go to bed early and my husband would stay up and feed him his last bottle and put him to bed so I could get a head start on sleep. The people in my last bmb who waited until babies were a lot older had trouble getting them to take a bottle.
  • @TeacherMama7 I know it wasn't technically meant for me, but thanks for the info on bottles for BF babies. We tried initiating a bottle at 3 weeks for DD2 but she wouldn't take it, but we didn't try it once per day and maybe that would have been the trick. Definitely trying this with new baby!!
  • I too start intorducting a bottle very early and thr last feed of the night. I used the time to begin pumping. Its has always been a win for us all as dh gets that special time with baby and I get a tad of freedom. I have always used avent original bottles with great success going from breast to bottle. I was told my a LC that I have a quick let down and that probably makes the transition easier for us all.

Thanks everyone yes that's my hope - to ultimately have DH feed in the evening before bed while I pump. I'm just worried I guess about the opposite problem- that bottles will be easier for LO so they might reject the boob!

@cottingham3 I am in a evidence-based safe sleep group on FB and just saw a post in my newsfeed regarding memory foam crib mattresses and remembered that someone on here was recently wondering about them so I thought I would pass along the info.

here is the info that was provided to the poster.
From the AAP: "To avoid suffocation, rebreathing, and SIDS risk, infants should s
sleep on a firm surface (eg, safety-approved crib and mattress). The surface should be covered by a fitted sheet without any soft or loose bedding. A firm surface maintains its shape and will not indent or conform to the shape of the infant’s head when the infant is placed on the surface. Soft mattresses, including those made from memory foam, could create a pocket (or indentation) and increase the chance of rebreathing or suffocation if the infant is placed in or rolls over to the prone position."

Heres the link to the full report provided (I did not review the report to verify the information above)
