  • How far along are you? 35 weeks

    How big is baby? pineapple

Upcoming appointments this week? just had one yesterday, everything's normal. Next one is in two weeks. After that I start going weekly. The next one is when they'll test me for that strep thing.

Any new symptoms or changes? More tired than usual. The fatigue is getting rough.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I would simply rant that I'm uncomfortable. Baby's butt and feet are always lodged in my ribs, and her head is right where it should be aka pressing on my bladder and giving me lightening crotch. Obviously it's wonderful that things are so normal but it doesn't mean it's a walk in the park.

GTKY: What was the worst punishment you received at home or school? My high school had a dress code that was effectively business casual. People would push it, but I ended up with detention for wearing slides. Unfair and therefore the "worst" because people who were worse at following dress code didn't get thrown in detention...

At home, my mom was the master of the guilt punishment. She would yell and cry and say how disappointed she was / how worried she was. No need to ground a kid if you can make them feel awful for their actions...

    Upcoming appointments this week?

Not until next Friday which starts my weekly appointments... Eek!

    Any new symptoms or changes?

Tons of contractions. Most are just uncomfortable, but some are painful if the baby is positioned just right. This baby is really long so if he is hanging out in the middle of the womb, as opposed to curling up against one side or another, his head hits right on my cervix which is quite painful.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?

I am getting so pumped that we are reaching the final stretch! I go from being super excited to incredibly anxious. I NEED to finish my maternity plan. I work on it little by little but I need to make it a priority.

GTKY: What was the worst punishment you received at home or school?

At home, my mom would make a huge production about anything. She is very dramatic and blows things way out of proportion. If she found any contraband in my room, she would display it for all to see.

I never really got into trouble at school but in 2nd grade, I was having a hard time with something and I told my teacher "I can't figure it out" she put the trash can on my desk to remind me I "CAN" do it. I don't know if it was supposed to be inspirational but it was humiliating and I still remember it over 20 years later.

    Upcoming appointments this week? Tomorrow

Any new symptoms or changes? Sporadic constipation, heartburn has actually subsided some at night (doesn't seem to be a guaranteed), dry facial skin, fatigue (yes I take iron)

Rants/Raves/Questions? The ICAN Group I'm a member of has me so confused. I get wanting a VBAC but I read all these women trying to go into labor "early" and taking all kinds of steps to do so. I personally feel letting the baby bake is a better path than making them come early just so you can possibly have a VBAC.

Question: anyone else going to a chiropractor? I've heard it can help with having a successful labor since things are better "lined up." DD was wedged a bit and never came out so I'm considering going to one.

GTKY: What was the worst punishment you received at home or school? At the end of my senior year of high school, I was still 17 and dating a guy. I hung out at his house with his buddies a lot and would come home past curfew. One week, my older siblings were all home from college and they didn't like that our parents didn't realize I was breaking curfew and thus, getting away with it. So they told on me. I had my curfew moved up to 10:00 pm for almost the entire remainder of high school and my boyfriend broke up with me. My parents were nice and lifted that restriction for the summer since they said I was almost 18 anyway (Aug birthday) and off to college soon. It sucked!

I can only think of one punishment in school ever and that was in 5th grade when three of us girls wanted to kiss a boy and literally "ganged" up on him to do so (during a recess that our small group stayed inside). Somehow we all tripped and landed on top of each other on the classroom couch and the teacher walked in. We had to miss a recess.

Boys were a problem for me  ;)

  • How far along are you? 33 weeks!

How big is baby? celery or cauliflower

Upcoming appointments this week? Next week, regular 34 week appt.

Any new symptoms or changes? more aches, everything feels swollen, and my hips hurts. I'm also getting this pain in my pelvic region, it's a sharp pain, then goes away, and it includes an instant urge to pee. Not sure what that's about.

Rants/Raves/Questions? See symptom above, sharp, short sporadic pelvic pain. @morgy_bee i'm with you, i haven't done anything for my maternity transition plan. I wrote out what I have to teach my replacement, on a post it, but i need to write out instructions.

GTKY: What was the worst punishment you received at home or school? I'm not sure, I've always followed the rules in both home and school. I would say getting a fail score in my spanish class for not pronouncing words right, but that day the teacher purposely failed everyone.

How big is baby? Coconut, though that seems small.

Upcoming appointments this week? Had one yesterday, most likely going to schedule a cesarean because baby A is still breech.  He has until my next appointment to flip.

Any new symptoms or changes? Cervix has thinned another half cm in less than a week.  Still long enough to keep us from worrying, but things seem to be moving faster towards labor than I'm comfortable with.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I filled out all the paperwork for my tubal while I'm in the hospital.  I don't know why I'm so excited about that, but I am!

GTKY: What was the worst punishment you received at home or school? I got into trouble a lot.... The worst punishment at home was being pulled out of school and placed on house arrest that eventually eased into a year long strict curfew punishment. I barely finished HS on time and had to go through home studies in order to finish up my credits. At school, I got into the most trouble when riding the bus to my elementary school. I had a mean bus monitor and made it my goal to make his life as miserable as he made everyone else's. I was a smart ass, still am.

How big is baby? 18 inches

Upcoming appointments this week? Tomorrow. Just a check-up.

Any new symptoms or changes? Hoping LO has turned! I think he might have, because I have been feeling more pressure in the ribs recently and I've been a lot less tender in my lower belly.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Rave: DH and I have been experimenting with talking and playing music for LO. He gets so responsive when we play certain things for him. I usually play various classical music, and DH has been playing some simpler songs from his favorite ska band. LO also seems to have gotten used to DH's voice. There have been times when I have been trying to sleep and LO is stretched out in a weird way that feels really uncomfortable. DH then rolls over and starts talking to LO, and he relaxes every time! It's amazing!

GTKY: What was the worst punishment you received at home or school? I didn't really get into trouble a lot. I was not brave enough to be rebellious at all, especially at school. I think I may have been grounded to my room for the day... once? I don't even remember why. But my mom felt bad (since I never get in trouble) and brought me a new book and CD to listen to.

  • @bumpybump I started going to the chiro a few weeks ago and it has made a huge difference on my comfort level. My biggest complaint is my SI joint and really my entire pelvis. They are getting everything lined up and I can tell! I went with my DS for almost the entire pregnancy. I highly recommend but you need to find a pregnancy friendly office. Some won't adjust pregnant women.
  • @morgy_bee thanks! I'm a member of an ICAN group and they have a list of good ones for pregnancy.

Upcoming appointments this week? Nope. I start weekly appointments next week. (I had high blood pressure before pregnancy)

Any new symptoms or changes? Just more tired and feet are swelling. I finally ordered some compression socks, so hopefully those will help some.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Raves: I'm getting a prenatal massage today, and taking maternity photos tomorrow! :) Part of me wishes I would've scheduled them later, so my bump is bigger, but I was nervous to wait too long and our schedule is filling up.

GTKY: What was the worst punishment you received at home or school? I didn't get in trouble at home much. My parents trusted me and had reasonable rules.

The worst was my freshman year of high school. My bf at the time wrote me a note that had lots of super inappropriate, sexual stuff in it. Of course, I lost the note. One of our teachers ended up finding it and reading it. I was called into the counselor's office where she lectured me about teen pregnancy and STDs and whatnot. The teacher was the FCA leader, so I'm sure he thought I was a little whore, even though we never had sex. It was super embarrassing, but luckily they didn't involve my parents.

  • Question! Had my appointment today. For the first time ever my OB made me nervous! LO is quite healthy, but is still not turned down. Two weeks ago he was breach, and now he is transverse. My OB said that if he isn't turned by my next appointment in 2 weeks, we have to talk about c-section! But I know lots of ladies with LOs that didn't turn until their last week or so. There is still plenty of time right?

  • @Feliciosity yes, still plenty of time. The way my OB put it, we will go over the process of cesarean and schedule the date, but if baby flips and I can deliver vaginally then the appointment is cancelled. Have you looked at spinningbabies dot com?  There are some exercises and tips for getting baby to turn around.
  • @taylormarie923 A nurse recommended that site to me when I told her how my appointment went. I will definitely check it out. I'd REALLY like to deliver naturally.

  • @Feliciosity my kiddo flipped from head down to breech and Sunnyside up at 36 and a half. My doctor recommended that site, getting in a pool, warm bath with an ice pack on my tummy, etc. We discussed an external version. He never flipped back and I had a c section. People kept trying to convince me to go to a chiropractor but I don't do that non-pregnant and I wasn't going to start. Point being is there are lots of things you can try that may or may not work.

I decided against the external version because I felt the risks were too much to not have a guarantee that it would work.  I did so much research and went back the next week with a page of questions and an open mind. I decided a c section was the right option for us. I had an ultrasound at 38+6 to confirm he was still breech. C section took place at 39+2. The hospital did another ultrasound just to be double sure and told me if he'd flipped I could go home or get induced. My c section went very smooth. I had a big, healthy boy, 9 pounds 5 oz and 22 1/4 inches long.

Your feelings of being concerned or scared are completely valid. I cried for days over having a c section. I felt robbed of the labor experience and I was crushed. I still have negative feelings about it. I'm having this lo by c section because my practice doesn't do vbac.  I feel judged by people even though it's none of their business. With my first I was scared of having a major surgery and a newborn, this time I have that and a toddler. I'm scared, but giving birth and recovering truly shows how strong you are regardless of how you deliver.

Fingers crossed you get the delivery you want, but if not, all will be ok.  If you have any questions or want to reach out to talk, feel free!
