Re: FFFC

  • Full, semi-embarrassing disclosure.  I really enjoy watching WWE.  :)    In my defense-the recent batch of women athletes are seriously out of this world talented.

  • @Shanski70 can't say that I've ever watched WWE, but I have been sucked in to marathons of Total Divas...

  • @crizz13 I watch total divas too!  However, the ladies in my GIF above aren't on the show (nor are a couple of the newer ones). I've wondered why they aren't on Total Divas, the only thing I can think is that WWE wants to keep viewers thinking they are "real" wrestlers when compared to those on TD.  But who knows. :)

  • @Shanski70 I've watched WWE for years, but I cannot get into this batch of women wrestlers. Bring me some Trish, Lita and Beth Phoenix and I'm good. haha

  • @Shanski70 Our house is so sucked into professional wrestling that my husband writes for a wrestling fan site now. We've been to two NXT shows in as many years. It's a whole thing, lol.

And for sure: the women right now are fuckin' killing it.
  • I let DD nap in front of the TV sometimes. If we're having a bad day and I can't put up with her fussing anymore it's the only thing that works.
  • @scatteringashes Right there with you. Woke up too late to take a shower, said F it, and threw my hair up in a ponytail. No regrets.

@EmilyLove25 @gusgus14 Ugh, he disgusts me! We have a lying, narcissistic, 10-year-old bully running the country.

  • @gusgus14 ME too times a million! @madcouplewithabox I heard that from a lot of people, but I have infinite respect for Hillary Clinton (also Bernie Sanders for that matter).

I was skimming other bumps and think I have a FFFC: Y'all, I actually like it when people (even strangers) touch my bump! Not yet, but once I am 18+ and really showing. I think it is sweet  o:)

  • @EmilyLove25 when I was maybe 16w with DD, I had an old coworker who I never liked to begin with rub my belly. That part didn't piss me off, it was that she said "you are still pregnant, right?" Um excuse me girl!?! So inapproproate.
  • @EmilyLove25 @schaze The lady I shared an office with when I got pregnant with DS started trying to touch my belly THE DAY she found out - which was earlier than I wanted to tell anyone at work, but she noticed all the doctor appointments and wouldn't stop asking. I had to literally swat her away with a stack of papers.

  • @EmilyLove25 so agree with you on POTUS...I just can't even watch news or read news about him anymore.  It is so pathetic!!  Is this really a true representation of what America stands for???  UGH!!!!

This article is not for everyone, and is definitely a little left-biased, but pretty much hit the nail on the head for me when they talked about why the U.S. couldn't get it together.  Please read with caution.

@supercoolstephy I really enjoy the original bad ass women in wrestling, but you should give the current ladies a chance, you'll be impressed! If you have the time watch Sasha and Bayley's NXT Brooklyn takeover match!

@scatteringashes I am jealous about the NXT shows you've seen! I'd love to see one in person!

and I'd like to go on record as saying I am 100% on board with your position @EmilyLove25

  • @egirl1025 wow. Thanks for posting that article. The US needs to get its sh*t together.
  • @madcouplewithabox I am right there with you. I didn't vote for either of them. Actually this was the first time I voted ever, I know I'm a bad citizen. But I just can't with politics anymore. My family is either major Trump supports or complete liberals so I can't win either way.

And yes @schaze  I wish we could get our shit together. I made a comment on FB about how I don't like to tell ppl where I am from when I'm out of the country. Man I got flamed for that.

I'm not a huge fan of random ppl touching me, If I know you I don't mind if you touch the bump.
  • @Shanski70 If one ever comes near you, I'd highly recommend it! I'm a very casual fan, but it's so much fun to see in person. The crowd energy is wildAnd tickets tend to be very reasonable.

RAW tends to come through KC twice a year, but it always seems to happen when we're broke, lol.
  • I refuse to call him the president. DH's family are all supporters and it makes me ragey talking to them about it. To me it's not a party thing, it's a HUMAN DECENCY thing.

Also add me to the crew that hates being touched. Stay away from my bump!!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Before getting pregnant, there were several things that I just *knew* I'd be ok with or not ok with people doing/saying while I'm pregnant. But now that I'm pregnant, most of them have gone out the window. I don't think I'd be ok with *anyone* touching the bump aside from DH but with the way things have been going, who knows - I may totally be alright with it.

On the president topic...Not a fan of him personally but I'm more concerned about what havoc his current administration may successfully wreak on our democracy. He had a chance to do something good with it, but I'm really not optimistic.

My FFFC...I'm struggling doing a gender reveal. I mean I'm good with finding out the gender, but I feel like it is *super* easy for a fun event for important people in the couple's life to turn into a self-thrown baby shower (and I'm a firm believer that you don't throw yourself a shower).
  • @beans2017 I thought about this too. We are still team green but If we change our mind, I think I'll invite the family over for a BBQ and have a gender reveal while everyone is together but making the invite more about the BBQ. Probably wouldn't even tell them that there is a gender reveal involved.
  • My FFFC (which might actually be more of an UO but oh well): I dislike social media and wish it didn't exist.  I deleted my Facebook account a long time ago, I did have one when it was for college students only (while i was in college myself) but stopped using it and deleted it when it opened up to everyone.  I have never used/viewed/tried Twitter, Snapchat, tinder, Instagram, etc (I probably don't even know them all haha, those are the ones I've heard of). This requires my friends and family to tell me things in person or on the phone,  but I prefer it that way.
  • @gilsam1 I'm never really on Facebook all that much and get really annoyed when I'm clueless about important stuff happening in my family. They just tell me "well it was on Facebook". Ugh! I don't care, that information deserves a CALL.
  • @madcouplewithabox Yes I'm very lucky that my friends call or text me because they know I don't use social media,  and my immediate family members and DH don't use social media at all either,  so all communicating is done the old fashioned way.  I can imagine it would make it near impossible to stay away from social media if your family was insistent on using it,  or you'd always miss out on everything :(
  • My theory is that Facebook will be the end of the civilized world.  Deleted/stopped using mine 7 years ago and do not regret it.  I was sad for a few minutes when my last BMB did a mass exodus to Facebook, but in the end I lived.
  • I don't get pissed off or anything when someone wants to touch my bump, but I definitely don't get the appeal. I love touching my own bump, but I have absolutely no desire to touch another mama's belly. Nope.

I'm not a big facebooker either and I don't have any other social media accounts. I kind of hope this board doesn't switch over to facebook.
  • I had a minor meltdown when Trump was elected.  I used to respect Ivanka but I feel like she is his buffer.  She has no clue either.

@beans2017 I understand where you're coming from on the self-thrown shower. But for me it's one of those thing she that I've totally flipped my opinion about. I always felt like a party to reveal the sex of a baby was kind of self-indulgent and really cheesy.

However, in my case I actually decided I want one and fortunately my group of ladies is totally into it and they're planning and throwing us a little shindig - they offered before I ever really brought it up. No gifts, backyard BBQ, and our favorite people.

I think my mind changed as we've progressed because this is my sixth pregnancy but I haven't brought a baby home yet. It looks like that's finally going to happen and I really want to celebrate. Not to mention, we achieved our pregnancy with lots of science, and since our family and friends were in the know through our whole cycle, we haven't gotten to have any fun surprises or revelations yet.

My own FFFC: I think people complain too much. It (whatever it is) probably isn't that bad. Shut up and be grateful.

(And no, the irony isn't lost on me that I'm complaining about people who complain. :))

Not sure about my stance on touching belly. We will see!

FB is ridiculous and I don't miss it at all.

And as for POTUS, I just can't.

  • @fivetimesnoluck I see what your saying. When DH started talking to me about wanting to have one, he said he'd just want it to be a fun summer party with everyone that also happens to include us revealing the gender. I think I can get behind that - I just may keep the blue vs. pink *everything* dialed back - but we'll see - I may change my mind on it too.

I agree with you too - you definitely have something to celebrate! I hope yours is fantastic!

@beans2017 Thank you! I am celebrating everything I can.

I think you could totally pull off off a low key reveal that just happens during an otherwise non-baby party. I love that idea. But it's up to you either way. There are no rules. Make the best decision for you!
