am getting conflicting answers when I look this up. I am using Clear blue Advanced, and the instructions say to use the first urine after your longest sleep. I interpret that as take the test as soon as you wake. However I am seeing sites that suggest differing instructions. One saying hold your morning urine for 4 hours then test, or test at 2 pm after holding urine for 4 hours, etc.
Anyone experienced with the same ovulation test and what yielded the best results?

Clear blue opks are different than others and they test for different hormones in addition to LH. Always follow the instructions that come with your opks, not random internet strangers.
ETA: to be clear, I'm say CBA=test with first morning urine.
I'm going to skip the lurk/ttcoyf/pinned thread lecture and let someone else handle that one.
Reason why I ask is I am using apps like glow and it said when I entered my test results that a negative may be due to testing with morning urine so I wanted to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding the instructions.
@knottie02b1efd0ae8eb4a3 Generally most of the women here use Fertility Friend. I've never used glow but did use other apps and switched to FF as it was so much more informative.

Thank you, I was trying to figure this all out including the changing user name, I will do so now. I appreciate the help, your answer clarified my question, I didn't know there was a difference in what it tested compared to others, I'll test first thing in the mornings

Okay, I'm feeling generous. New piece of advice. Don't use Glow. It sucks at predicting your cycles (or anything for that matter).
And now I'll say it. Read the pinned newbie thread at the top of this board, it sounds like you could use some of the info in it.
1. Drop Glow. Or at least start using Fertility Friend in addition to Glow. When I started TTC I used Ovia, Glow, and FF. FF = freaky accurate Ovia = kinda got it in the realm of right Glow = go home, Glow, you're drunk.
2. Even if you don't intend to join here, the Newbie guide has so much information all in one place. Read it and follow its advice.
3. If you're using the Clearblue Digital Advanced (with the no face/flashing smile/solid smile), follow the instructions as they tell you to. An increase in estrogen is what sets off the flashing smile then the LH surge is what sets off the solid smile. But, I will say, I used them for months and threw a bunch of money at them and I don't see the point if you ovulate on a somewhat predictable schedule and get other cues leading up to ovulation such as EWCM. At most I would use the regular Clearblue Digital (no face or solid smile only) or Wondfos (Amazon, hella cheap). For those two, my RE's office actually recommended testing in the early afternoon, trying your best to keep the concentration of your urine somewhat consistent (don't drink a gallon of water one morning and none the next). I do find that I only ever get a really clear, super positive Wondfo if I test in the early afternoon.

Late to this thread. I used Glow for a while (before it became obvious that ovulation just isn't my "thing" apparently). I also used the CBDA. Always follow the instructions on the monitor rather than the app. I started using Glow because I read some article about how they tested a bunch of fertility tracking apps and it was one of the best at predicting. From what I'm hearing here, that's not true. Idk if it works (and I stopped charting a while back) because, again, I don't ovulate. But I'll be starting back up with charting next cycle using Fertility Friend because it seems to have way more options for tracking things and everyone here swears by it.
