Newbie Introduction

Hey everyone-

Like it says above I'm new here. I'm 29 and have been TTC unsuccessfully for about a year. Recently I've been put in metformin to hopefully regulate my cycles. After my appointment with my Gynaecologist I was feeling quite hopeful- she was incredibly positive and told me to go enjoy the summer and she expected I'd be pregnant by the time I came back to see her in the fall.

However, last week we got the results of DH's semen analysis and his count was low (6 million). They said it could be an error in results and suggested to redo the test, which we did earlier this week. Today we heard the results were no different. I'm trying to be positive but inside it's killing me. The nurse at my Gynaecologist told us it could be up to a year just to get an appointment with the urologist. I made us an appointment with our GP while we wait for the referral for the fertility clinic.

And to make matters worse my best friend is having her gender reveal this weekend. She got pregnant first try. I'm thrilled for her and her hubby but I can't help but feel sad for us. She's been super supportive of my struggle but just doesn't understand what I'm feeling or going through.

Anyway, this got kind of bloggity pretty fast- just wanted to pop in and say hi.

I'm sorry you find yourself here but welcome! I hope your stay is short and sweet. Good luck with the gender reveal party, it can be really tough to handle those kinds of events while dealing with infertility.

Welcome. Is there a reason why you have to go to one urologist that is booked for a year? We got a semen analysis that said low morphology (turns out they marked it wrong) and were able to get in to see a reproductive urologist that next week. If you can, I would find one who can get you in much sooner.

We live in a smaller area and there is only one reproductive urologist with an incredibly long wait list unfortunately. I'm finding the waiting to be incredibly frustrating though.

I am sorry you have to be here but glad you found us. I am sorry about the low count. I can understand your frustration with the long wait. DH and I also live in a very small area...I like to joke that we live in the butt crack of nowhere. We have to drive an hour just for our fertility doctor, and that's not even an RE. We go to a Women's Clinic that has a doctor that specializes in reproductive therapy. I don't know what we will do if we have to move on to IVF....I don't even know where there would be that would be anywhere near us.

Still, it wouldn't hurt to do a search and see what else is out there. Maybe you'll get lucky and find someone available much sooner and within reasonable distance.

Thanks so much for the advice. I found another clinic about 2 hours away so I'm looking into that- the only thing I'm not sure about is it's in a different province (we're in Canada) so I'm not sure how our coverage would work- but I'm sure a phone call would answer my questions!

@Asampson87 Welcome! Sorry that you have to be here. Good luck with the gender reveal party. Sometimes it is so hard and exhausting being happy for other people. We have all been there, and I know it can be tough.

Tonight I'm really working on my attitude- I agree it's hard for us right now but I don't want to take away from their happiness and the excitement of this bundle. My husband said to me today (and he's right) that everyone has struggles and this just happens to be ours.. and that I don't know what struggles other people are dealing with.

so I'm trying for an attitude adjustment and I'm going to go to the party and enjoy myself and celebrate with the rest of my girlfriends who will be there.. and if I want to have a bit of a pity party on Saturday then that's ok too.
