Re: Weekly Chat - June 25

  • What are you looking forward to this week? DH and I are supposed to head up to the mall after he gets off of work. I want to go to the bookstore and maybe Michaels. This might be delayed until tomorrow, though. And DH is getting headshots done on Tuesday so he can actually start going to auditions again. He went to school for theater performance, but hasn't been able to get involved in anything.

What are you dreading? I honestly can't think of anything negative coming up this week! I do have to call my pain doctor tomorrow because I somehow lost the prescription he gave me for a new muscle relaxer. It's a long story.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Finish cleaning the house (it's been a slow process, since my back has been acting up). Beyond that, not really sure.

Random thoughts? *TW* My sister is five days late and apparently will be getting induced if she doesn't go into labor soon. So I'll soon have a nephew! *end TW* We actually went to Walmart the other day and they had these two carts FULL of clearance baby stuff, so we grabbed a bunch of things for her. I just have to pop the box in the mail. I also might have to take an Uber over to DH's work. He texted me about half an hour ago that he hit his head very hard at work and was nauseous and dizzy, worse when standing, so his boss is probably going to send him to Health Services (basically first aid for employees, but it's a full working clinic for work related injuries).

Also, we did NOT get the AC in my car fixed yesterday. It turns out that the access port for the system is too deep in the engine bay for us to get to with one of the DIY things from AutoZone, so we have to take it to a shop and do it. Of course, it's Sunday, so no one's open except Pep Boys and we hate them. So we'll do that tomorrow or Tuesday.

GTKY: How many pillows do you sleep with? I have two regular pillows and a body pillow. I've already warned DH that if we do get pregnant, I'll probably end up with one of those Snoogle things.

  • @Dreamscapes_ I love theatre! I did a lot in high school but I haven't really had the time to do it since then :( I love to go though. Does your DH work at Disney too? I hope he is ok:(

What are you looking forward to this week?
It's my birthday this week! While I am not thrilled about turning 35, I do enjoy the cake that comes with it :)

What are you dreading? Nothing that I can think of right now :)

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I need to do some cleaning and organizing :/ Also, I am finally somewhat caught up with laundry so I hope to keep it that way.

Random thoughts? I'm thinking of saying to hell with it and starting to TTC next cycle. It is only 1 cycle before my new date and who knows how long it will take to get a BFP.

GTKY: How many pillows do you sleep with? I have two regular pillows for under my head, then one smaller flat pillow that I hold and one that I put between my knees. **TW** I started with the knee one during my first pregnancy and got used to it and have slept with it ever since.
  • @dreamscapes_: how exciting for your sister!! Hope all goes well. i hope you get your car fixed tomorrow! It's too hot not to have AC.
@glitzandglitter: I think we should all have some cake to celebrate  ;) How much of a difference would one month make for the position? Either way, they wouldn't know you were pregnant when they offered. I also thinks it's pretty shitty they've made you wait so long to hear anything.

    AFM:

Mobile is acting strange (or maybe it's my phone) so I can't copy but!
Looking forward to: having tomorrow off, finally unpacking the rest of our stuff that belongs in the kitchen and bathrooms.
    Dreading: nothing really!
Goals: unpack the rest of our stuff and get everything put away. I'm SO excited to finally have our house back completely.
    Random thoughts: I got nothing
GTKY: I also love a pillow between my knees. It helps my back. Otherwise I use one pillow and put an arm under my head.

@notthefather - it would be bad as far as the position because the busiest time would be at the end of the school year. I was talking to the other lady who would also have it with me and she doesn't think we will find out until August :( I have decided that no matter what this is my last cycle on the pill and I will start temping. I just need to decide if it will be a TTA or a TTA :/

    ETA: forgot a word

    @dreamscapes_ - I hope YH is okay!
@glitzandglitter - Happy early birthday!! Cake makes it all a little better, right? And yay for possibly TTC earlier than planned!
More often than not I've had moments where I think about the fact that it can take up to a year to get pregnant, and there's only a 20% chance for healthy couples - and wonder if it's even worth it to wait until August ourselves. The chances of getting a BFP the first month or two are pretty slim. I've talked to H about stopping BCPs after this cycle and then having one or two pre-TTC to get regulated again, and we're both so iffy on it. On one hand, it'd be nice to not have to take a pill and be an emotional wreck half of the time, but on the other hand, it's nice to not worry about what part of my cycle I'm in or worry about needing a condom.

What are you looking forward to this week?
Only having one week of class left, hah! But also working at the office closest to home Tuesday and Thursday. It means I can run home on my lunch break and let the dogs out and relax for a bit. It's also one of the easiest offices, so it's super relaxing.

    What are you dreading?
    Not much, thankfully!

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?
I want to do a deep clean of the house. We desperately need it. I've done some surface cleaning and organizing, but it's time for a real clean-session.

    Random thoughts?
Pepto bismol chewables > Pepto bismol liquid

GTKY: How many pillows do you sleep with?
Just one for under my head. I usually bunch my blanket up and stick it between my knees to keep them separated a little.

  • @izza2 - That is my thought process about the pill too :/ I bet that is so exciting to be so close to being done! I can't even take the liquid - the taste gets me. My go to tummy med is Imodium (in pill form)
  • Harry Potter marathon on Freeform?!? YAAAAS!! :)
  • @glitzandglitter The local theater group here is putting on Rock of Ages in a couple of months, so he's gonna go to audition for that :D He does work for Disney! He's at the Polynesian. He's all right. He got hit in the head with the door of a refrigerated truck. They ended up sending him to the emergency room instead of cast first aid, so I went to pick up the car and then meet him. He's still a little dizzy, but he's seeing the cast doctor tomorrow morning and is asleep right now.

Anyway! Happy birthday! I hope you have a lovely birthday week! Isn't it funny how you get used to sleeping a certain way and then you just can't sleep any other way? Also, I say go for it and just start. If they can't give you any firm information right now, then continue on with your life.

@notthefather I hope all goes well, too! Yay for unpacking your kitchen and bathroom stuff! I'm so happy that your reno is done!

@izza2 He is! He has to go to work in the morning, which sucks, and I wish he'd just stay home, but he can't. I'm honestly a little worried about him driving in the morning. I've had those thoughts myself about the fact that it can take so long, but then I think about my sister. *TW* She got KU literally the week after my wedding, when she went home. I was NOT thrilled. *end TW* Yay for only one more week of class! That's so exciting! I absolutely agree about the chewables being better than the liquid.  The liquid is disgusting.

@dreamscapes_ *TW* so are you an auntie yet? How's BabyWatch 2017 going?! */TW*

@glitzandglitter Happy Birthday! When's the actual date? What's your favorite kind of cake?

@notthefather yes my mobile is being wonky! It keeps "refreshing" the page and thus losing my posts. :( DON'T CENSOR ME MOBILE!

@izza2 ah summer! Not that you can really enjoy it if you're working, but it's still nice to take a break from classes for a bit.

What are you looking forward to this week? DH wants to do a date night on Friday, so that's fun! Also we are having the ILs over for a BBQ on Sunday (first BBQ at the new house!).

What are you dreading? I guess nothing? Hopefully all my work drama is done for the week already.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Hang up the rest of our pictures and finish reading my book (I feel like this is my "goal" every week and it never gets done!).

Random thoughts? MH won a sales competition at work and he gets to go to some super fancy resort in Cancun! We're going to use this as our anniversary trip (we only have to pay for my plane ticket and extra hotel nights if we want to stay longer). I've been dying for a beach vacation so I'm really excited! The only kinda downside is that it's not until September and I'm going to have to research Zika warnings/threats in that area AND hopefully I'll be KU by that time so it'll be during all the fun of first trimester. :/ I'm still stoked though!

GTKY: How many pillows do you sleep with? 2: one behind my head and 1 between my knees.

  • @JennyColada - My birthday is Friday :) I like ALL THE CAKE! No whipped cream frosting though - I'm a buttercream girl. A trip to Cancun sounds awesome! What are you doing for your date night?
  • @glitzandglitter I much prefer whipped cream frosting myself. Good, I won't have to share my cake with you!

I think we're just going out to dinner locally for our date night. Maybe sushi, but I may try to talk MH into a steak or seafood restaurant that I've been wanting to try.

  • @JennyColada - I was about to say I don't think we can be friends but then I thought about it...we should be best friends! I would never have to worry about you stealing my cake with buttercream icing :)
  • My birthday was last week! We need a giant BOTB birthday party! I don't like frosting so we're all safe. Happy birthday-ish @JennyColada and @glitzandglitter!

  • @JennyColada I've actually been an aunt for almost 11 years, lol. *TW* My sister is still plodding along. I just talked to my mom and she said that the doctor was going to induce her, but she started dilating, so they're giving her a little more time to pop him out on her own. Hopefully soon! My mom thinks maybe tonight, since they're supposed to have a massive storm. *end TW*

@notthefather DH is fine! His head is still a little tender, and he has orders from his doctor to "take it easy" at work. So we'll see if that actually happens. His next follow up is a week from today.

  • Home from vacation and trying to catch up now. Mobile bumping if for the birds.

@dreamscapes_ DH is dreading me bringing back out the snoogle. I loved that thing pregnant though.
@glitzandglitter HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEK!!! Whipped cream frosting all the way LOL

What are you looking forward to this week? The big highlight of the week was the family vacation Sunday-Today(Wednesday). We went to the zoo Monday and had perfect weather really. Then Great Wolfe Lodge yesterday to today. So much fun. I am also looking forward to finishing up the last of the painting in the basement that got delayed.

What are you dreading? Unpacking and post vacation cleaning.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? The basement paining and getting some stuff moved in the playroom

Random thoughts? I need a vacation to recover from my vacation.

GTKY: How many pillows do you sleep with? Two under my head and one kind of propped in the back.

  • @ChloandCoco He's good! The nausea and headaches are gone, he's just still a little tender on the spot the door hit :) And the AC in the car, no. Hopefully soon. But the AC in our apartment went out tonight, so we called our maintenance number and they came by to fix it already. They're coming back tomorrow to do some more work on it, but it's working for now. Have a good time at the wedding and Canada Day festivities! That sounds like a lot of fun! The sunburn, not so much. We actually got new pillows when we got our new bed. I think they're Tempurpedic (and were fairly pricey), but they're great.

@kindbytealikat I already told DH that he might possibly occasionally get shoved out of bed by the pillow. I already sleep with a body pillow, so that'll be interesting, lol. I'm glad you had a wonderful vacation! I hear from a lot of people that they need a vacation from their vacation (my mom said something similar tonight).

  • @CecilB93 - Wow! You have a lot going on! We have missed you around here :) The lightening strike sounds like a huge pain! I hope things calm down for your soon!
  • @CecilB93 The move sounds stressful, especially with the lightning strike! I'm glad everyone is hurt. The damage can be fixed, but yeah, that's frustrating that it's been less than a week. Don't worry about posting and ghosting! You've got a lot going on and that's more important than a forum :)

*TW* My sister literally named her kid Volcano. She just split it into the syllables for first and middle name. *end TW*

  • @kindbytealikat Thanks! As far as the name, I genuinely haven't got a clue why or how they landed on that as his name. Trust me, I'm very baffled by it.

  • @CecilB93. I thought you were being figurative at first, but your house literally got struck by lightning??? That's crazy!  I'm glad no one got hurt and the damage isn't too bad.

@dreamscapes_ I feel like I need more information just to wrap my head around this volcano thing.  You said it's a boy?  Are you comfortable sharing how they spelled it?  In my mind it's"Volcan O". But that seems worse than just calling the kid "Volcano".   But anyway, congratulations!  I'm sure your nephew will grow into the name and pretty soon it won't seem weird at all.  (Unless you don't think it's weird.  And then I'm sorry I called your nephew's name weird).
  • @Secretstapler Yes, it's a boy. His name is Vaul Kano (last name). I've already had a couple of friends mispronounce it, and pretty much everyone thinks it's a weird name. We know it's my sister's choice and all that, but we think she's signing that kid up to a lifetime of bullying because of his name. Of course, we haven't said anything about that to her. I just sent her a box of baby stuff, including Disney things, because even though she's not that into Disney, I am, so there.

  • @dreamscapes_ Well, Vaul is better than Volcan.  So at least there's that. I agree, it seems like you are intentionally making your kid's life harder when you give him a name like that.  But I don't know, weird names are becoming the norm these days.  Maybe 20 years from now, no one will blink when they see that name on a resume.  And yeah, I don't think you can criticize a name once it's attached to a real kid.  So it's best to just be a good aunt and send your love and support in whatever form you choose (like Disney!)
  • @Secretstapler I'm hoping that the weird names fall out of favor. I understand wanting your kid to have a unique name so they're not the seventeenth Ashley in the class, but there comes a point where it's just silly. The names we have earmarked for hopeful future use are a little more classic (two of them are James and Charlotte). Either way, not my kid.

  • @secretstapler Nope, not being figurative. The house was literally struck by lightning, haha. But yea, all things considered we were fairly lucky that it wasn't worse.

@dreamscapes_ James is my sons middle name! I love it, classic and well-known without being insanely popular. On the topic of weird names...a customer of the bank I work at, her first and middle names are Mystery Jewel. Her last name has no correlation with the first two thank goodness, but I feel like I would have hated my parents for giving me that name.

  • @CecilB93 I love that name, so your son has a lovely name! We have it paired with Michael for a middle name :) There are several Mikes in our family, and that way, we can honor them without adding to the ranks of Mike. Sometimes I just don't understand the names people give their kids. I really don't. I was telling one of the many Mikes in my life about these two guys I worked with when I was in my early twenties. They were brothers, and their names were literally Sir and Master.
