@pebbledam@vflux33 The only thing holding me back from smoking weed is not knowing how to buy it, too! I'm a bit different and have actually never done it and want to before I have a child, because I feel like trying to find a way to smoke weed with a child is a little irresponsible, IMO.
I want to point out, even regular usage of marijuana during pregnancy has shown to have no adverse affects on the baby. Not telling people to do it! But it's probably one of the safest drugs/substances you could ever do while pregnant. Even safer than some medication.

I've worked in child welfare and have seen a lot of moms using different drugs, and at this point, marijuana is illegal in our state and we still hardly care, it's a slap on the wrist.

Re: pot- I smoked a ton in HS and some in college and, as an adult in my 30's, it has totally lost it's allure to me. I just don't understand grown adults who want to smoke for fun or people who really want to try it because they think it will be awesome. Objectively, it seems juvenile to me. (FFSC?) Hopefully that doesn't sound too snotty (it probably does), but I'm just being honest. TBH, it's not that awesome. There are other things in life that are way more awesome and worthy to put on your "must do" list. I do think that it has a lot of medicinal applications that are being ignored in the mainstream world because of pot's stigma as an illegal drug in most states though, which is a shame. Specifically, there is a shit ton of literature on the use of CBD as a treatment for seizures, yet most patients are stuck flip flopping between other seizure meds that don't work as well. Chemo patients should totally have access to pot in all states in whatever form they choose, because chemo is nasty AF. Traditionally available pharmaceuticals just don't do enough to combat the misery that chemo patients are forced to endure, IMO. I just don't see the point of withholding it from people as a medical treatment when we know that it works better than anything else for certain things. TL;DR Recreational pot- meh. Medicinal pot- yeah.
@pebbledam That view of the mountains when we're leaving Denver for west always takes my breath away, no matter how many times I saw it. We have a wedding picture that looks damn near like yours with the creek, only ours was in the summer. I had to do a double take to make sure it wasn't the same place (which would be weird, since ours was on my ILs' land).
I've never enjoyed being social after smoking weed, but I do love a good smoke, eat some food, fall asleep by myself routine. Best sleeping aid of all time. Also I hate smoking it. In Amsterdam they had this delicious pound cake. Much better. Eat the pound cake, eat some pie, sleep for 11 hours. DH and I also don't know where to buy it here tho. Excited for when ca gets their dispensary game up for recreational.
Also re parents smoking weed, it's definitely not worse than a glass of wine. My dad smoked weed my entire childhood, but I never saw him have a glass of any alcohol, and he never smoked around me so I was 12 when I figured it out (identified the smell in his office, which was detached from the house). I still didn't smoke until college, and I think I was more responsible with alcohol because my parents never drank.
I'm all for medicinal marijuana, especially since I know how much it's helped my friends with cancer treatments, PTSD, chronic anxiety, etc. They are like totally different people with help from that sweet little plant! I'm also all for recreational marijuana. If alcohol is legal, I see no reason why marijuana shouldn't be legal, since I'd much rather be around people when they are HAF than a drunkasaurus-Rex.

I get where people are coming from though- smoking anything isn't good for you, but the benefits of marijuana are all in the thc. There are so many benefits. Natural pain reliever, helps with sleep, helps with appetite in cancer patients, relived anxiety. Too much thc, however, can cause mood changes, changes in sensory experiences, impaired memory. Sounds just like alcohol. And I have personally never seen people do the things "on" marijuana that I have with alcohol. There is a huge stereotype about stoners.. and while there are those people, there are so many more that don't abuse it. They're professionals in all walks of life and they eat/smoke a little at night to relax and help them sleep. Just like my glass of wine. And while there are benefits to a glass of red wine, those statements should be taken with a grain of salt. Is your wine all natural? If not, chances are you are drinking sulfur, additives, coloring, even fish bladders. I'd much rather eat a plant than chemicals. I think the negativity that surrounds marijuana stems a lot from it being illegal. And just like any other substance, if you can't handle it, don't take it. If you can't have one or two drinks and be okay, don't drink. If you become a bum after smoking pot, don't smoke. I used to smoke but my job doesn't allow it so I made the choice to stop. I would still be an occasional smoker if I could. A lot of my friends and family still smoke, and I'm fine with that. They have great careers and smash me when it comes to income. I don't judge. I travel for work and am privileged to see other countries and their laws. Amsterdam, for example, is amazing. It is clean, safe, progressive. Marijuana is legal there- and you'd never know it. The kids are allowed in bars even. But they "practice" their English with you. Their parents step out to smoke and enjoy several glasses of wine over dinner. The drug stores are clean and organized, ran by stoners that look and act like you and me. I guess my rambling point is that we shouldn't judge. We all have our vices and they're not always healthy. I side more with the stoner that has a stable job, is responsible and takes care of themselves, but get high and takes a hike or experiences something new. Someone who neglects their health (no excercise, poor food choices, etc) and maybe doesn't imbibe, but downs chemical laden foods all day and is lazy regardless..

In the interest of clarity, and so I don't come off as an intolerant B to anyone unknowingly, I just want to briefly explain what I meant by this comment further. My views on pot do not extend beyond myself on to anyone else. Pot has lost its allure tome. I don't understand wanting to smoke it as an adult because I did a ton of that as a kid and I'm over it. It's not exciting tome anymore. If it's exciting to you and you like it or you have found a way to make it work for you in your adult life, that's awesome and I support it. I want to make it clear that I am not calling recreational pot users juvenile or making a blanket judgement about anyone who uses pot, whatever your reasons.
Objectively, I can see how this post would come off as superior sounding or alienating to some, now that I have read it back a few times. That was not my intention. I kind of made this comment on the fly because this viewpoint isn't something that I put a lot of weight in, so I considered the wording NBD. People should do whatever they feel works for them or what they find fulfilling or helpful in their own lives. I don't want to drag out the FFFC all the way through the weekend, but I don't want there to be any misunderstanding about my heart on this issue.
