Re: Summer time issues

  • This happened to me on Monday. It was the weirdest thing though bc it's the only day I've had the issue so far. I looked a hot mess. Luckily I'm Italian so my skin doesn't stay red long.

  • I went to the beach right before I found out I was pregnant. I was there about 3 hours. Applied sunblock 3 times. Only because I burn easily naturally. And still burned to the point of blisters. I read something that you burn easier during pregnancy. Not sure how true it is though.

  • There's also new recs about spray sunscreen not being as effective.... and I totally believe it.
Love for a mineral sunscreen or a lotion  (I know it's a drag)

    Good luck
  • Are any of y'all worried about the mosquitos? It completely freaks me out. It wasn't an issue during my first pregnancy, but with Zika it kind of freaks me out. I'm not usually an outdoor person, but my toddler loves to go to the park and be outside.

Is DEET considered safe during pregnancy?

  • I was because of the same reason and with kids in sports but my dr said that there hasnt been that many cases and as long as i take the percautions such as bug spray i should be fine

@ladybug0088 I'm in south Texas and that is my biggest worry so far, Zika. My OB told me to wear spray everyday with DEET. Thankfully I haven't seen too many and the mosquitoes in and around my area aren't testing positive, but she said where it anyway! Your skin is also more sensitive I believe when pregnant and once you get bigger it is also more thin (stretching) and will burn much easier.
  • @mpp06 and @mommaSG I always get mosquito bites so it's my one fear. I'll definitely keep deet on hand then for our everyday walks and park trips. I'll be glad when the cold comes because it's one less thing to worry about.

  • @ladybug0088 I've been using lavender body wash and I started using California Baby bug spray - doesn't have DEET, but I've found it to be effective so far.

Can I just add my own totally random winge but I am Australian so for us- February is the hottest month of summer (right now being winter) which is super handy for concealing the pregnancy in these months wearing layers- but awful for when I'm going to be so hot uncomfortable and about to pop! Lol. *end rant*
  • Yes deet is safe. CDC has tons on info
  • @ashhsa I have only been super pregnant in the winter so it was nice to have a little Bunsen burner. I can't imagine being that pregnant in the heat of summer! Good luck!

I have a Feb baby and a June baby. I have been both extremes and I'm not sure which is worse : big pregnant and miserable or tiny pregnant and no one knowing why you feel miserable. Lol

Lol DS and DD are August babies... and I'd 100% choose this over that! But, my symptoms haven't been so bad. I had major guilt for not wanting to take DS anywhere over the summer when I was pregnant with DD.

I'm not sure either but I do know the only time my SIL ever got sun burned in her entire life was when she was pregnant. I think there has to be some truth to it.... just don't ask me about the science....
