Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring?
Taking a class D medication during the 1st trimester and previous Pre-E requiring hospitalization and induction at 37 weeks.
What type of additional testing, monitoring will you be getting?
Right now I am getting extra US mainly looking to see if the medication did any damage to this LO. Later on a 24 hour urine and increased BP checks.
Any questions / rants / raves?
None atm
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday to celebrate and why?
I love Christmas. I enjoy shopping for other people. Although DH and I have recently spoken about not doing presents and doing a family trip instead. I feel bad that this LO will be born in the rush of the holidays and don't want thier birthday to be overlooked for Christmas
Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring? AMA, family history of congenital heart issues, personal history of LEEPx3.
What type of additional testing, monitoring will you be getting? I'm followed by MFM, I'll be getting extra ultrasounds to check cervical length throughout pregnancy, and I'll be getting a fetal heart echo and level 2 ultrasound to check on heart anatomy and functioning.
Any questions / rants / raves? Rant: My horrible experience with one of the OBs in my practice - What a douche. Rave: I've decided to switch to a midwife, and I'm excited!
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday to celebrate and why? Halloween. I LOVE IT! And so does DD. We're doing a Halloween theme party for her 3rd birthday next month.
I use Hypnobabies! http://www.hypnobabies-store.com/link.cgi?affiliateID=472
J18 December Siggy Challenge: Christmas Movies!
EDD: 1/6/2018
Eva Jane: 7/23/2014
Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring? FVL, history of DVT
What type of additional testing, monitoring will you be getting? Hopefully just additional blood work.
Any questions / rants / raves? I met with the MFM this week and he was funny and nice. He also didn't talk down to me like some of the doctors I've had.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday to celebrate and why? Thanksgiving - all the food and relaxing family time is the best. Christmas is way too much work and hassle to be my favorite.
How far along are you? 7w1d according to my new due date
Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring? PCOS, glucose intolerance, HBP that started after DD was born.
What type of additional testing, monitoring will you be getting?
I already had my first 1hr glucose test and now I'm doing a 3hr. I'm meeting with the MFM dr next Tuesday so I'll see what else I have to do.
Any questions / rants / raves? My midwife has me on a diet to control my blood sugars and at first, I was so bummed out and upset BUT I've been following the meal plan and I actually feel really good! Yeah, it's not eating "fun" things but I feel better and have more energy.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday to celebrate and why? Halloween!!! I love costumes, dressing up as a family and decorating.
How far along are you? 10 weeks today.
Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring? High BP last pregnancy which led to medication and induction, although I never got into pre-e territory. My labs came back with elevated protein in my 24 hr urine catch, so I was told I'll be receiving extra monitoring again this time around. My BP is just above normal right now, hoping it can stay that way.
What type of additional testing, monitoring will you be getting? Not quite sure yet, my first visit with my new OB isn't until July 12th. I'm expecting to be put on meds again at some point, and likely growth ultrasounds, but again I'm not sure.
Any questions / rants / raves? As I said in a different thread yesterday, I'm really disappointed. I made a lot of lifestyle changes last pregnancy and afterwards to attempt to bring my blood pressure down, but it seems like it didn't make a difference. I do have family history on my dad's side so likely a part of it is genetics. I'm still doing what I can to stay healthy, and I guess that's all I can do!
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday to celebrate and why? Christmas! I love the time with family, the awesome food, traditions, and church services. I also love buying gifts for people, so having a little one around this last year made it even more special.
11 weeks 2 days - haven't changed my bump ticker, but every time I go in, they adjust my due date. My baby is growing fast and furiously - lol!
Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring?
MTHFR positive, history of loss, 37, overweight, hypertension
What type of additional testing, monitoring will you be getting?
I have had four ultrasounds so far and we did the NxGen DNA Screening test Monday, should get results mid-week next and I assume my doctor will recommend other test from there if needed. My doctor is super awesome and I am feeling really confident about this pregnancy.
Any questions / rants / raves?
Raves: We told my SD last night about the baby and it was the cutest, sweetest thing ever. She literally ran around the house yelling, "I'm so excited" for about 10 minutes. Once she calmed down she got all serious and told me that I need to "take it easy" and "sleep in" that we had "lots of planning to do" and even questioned me about what I was going to order at dinner - "We need to make sure it is safe." Apparently, her mom has had lots of discussions with her about babies and how difficult pregnancy can be (I think it was hard for her and she doesn't want to have anymore kids). SD even informed me that there were two ways the baby could come out - "sometimes they have to cut" (with a swiping gesture across her belly) and "sometimes you can just squeeze them out" (complete with a squat and a "pushing" face). I could watch the video we made of it over and over again.

I love Christmas and Halloween. I love dressing up and decorating. I also love gift giving. I really pretty much just love everything from mid-October to New Year's. I am definitely one of those people who has "holiday" outfits and decorations for every fall holiday. Any occasion to dress up.

I see my doc again at 13 weeks and have an appointment with the high risk clinic the same day.

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday to celebrate and why?
4th of July is special because that is when DH and I met, but I also really like Christmas. So excited to create traditions with my LO.
@mcrosie yeah! So the main thing I changed is now I'm eating 5 small meals instead of 3 large ones. All the meals have to be a combination of fiber, protein and healthy carbs so the blood sugar can be more stable. I'm only using whole wheat bread and I haven't gone off and purchased any sugar free substitutes but I think as I start getting bored I will.
For breakfast, I have 2 eggs and a slice of toast or toast with peanut butter and only 8oz of milk.
Lunch, I'm making salads or a big batch of veggie soup with some crackers or a sandwich.
Morning and afternoon small meals are a small fruit and nuts or a slice of toast with peanut butter, or a fruit and string cheese or cottage cheese.
Dinner I bake either fish or chicken and eat it with half a cup of quinoa. And eat some sort of salad or veggies with it. For all meals, I'm only drinking water or tea or coffee w/out sugar.

Right now I am 10 weeks, 3 days
Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring?
I had my thyroid removed when I was 21 due to cancer. I've been on synthetic thyroid hormone replacements ever since and my levels have been stable for quite some time. However, mom's thyroid hormones have a lot to do with baby's development of lots of key things (including the central nervous system, parts of the brain, and bones) so I am considered high risk. Unbalanced TSH can also increase the risk of miscarriage.
What type of additional testing, monitoring will you be getting?
I really have to have my TSH levels monitored closely, especially during the first 20 weeks or so. After that, the baby has it's own thyroid and it's not as big of an issue as it is now. This means lots of blood draws and changes in my medication to accommodate my changing body. Yesterday I went in for all my first trimester blood work and had to also do blood work for my endocrinologist and they ended up taking 9(!!!) vials of my blood for all the tests. If my levels are staying consistent (which they have so far) I'm looking at blood work and possibly a new prescription about once a month for the rest of my pregnancy.
Any questions / rants / raves?
I'm just really happy that I can feel my nausea starting to lessen this past week. Before, I was getting super sick with everything I ate. There are still certain foods the baby doesn't like (dairy and any ice cream, frozen yogurt, or chocolate) but for the most part, I have very minimal symptoms which is awesome because the last 6 weeks totally sucked.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday to celebrate and why?
Halloween!!! Because costumes and candy! I've been a bit anxious this pregnancy and worried something will go wrong. It's been hard for me to get excited about the baby because I'm so nervous about it. But then DH reminded me a few weeks ago that I get to put the baby in adorable costumes every year AND agreed to be totally on board with themed out family costumes (I already have one picked out for Halloween 2018 when the baby's here). It sounds lame but it's one of the first times I got SUPER excited about the baby. I'm still nervous, but it helped me remember to look at the positives and not just the negatives, if that makes any sense.
How far along are you?
8 weeks, 2 days
Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring?
I delivered my first baby at 19W4D due to an Incompetent cervix. Flash forward to my second pregnancy in 2015/2016 and my OB recommended extra monitoring and a cerclage. I delivered my DD at 39W5D in January 2016. Once you have a cerclage, they pretty much require you to have one with any additional pregnancies.
What type of additional testing, monitoring will you be getting?
I will have a cerclage placed around 14/15 weeks. That means a couple hospital trips, extra monitoring by MFM and a few extra ultrasounds.
Any questions / rants / raves?
Nope, I'm good.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday to celebrate and why?
Well I love Christmas because it's such a magical time. We spend a lot of time with our family and friends, and I usually take a decent chunk of time off of work to enjoy the end of the year. Food wise, it's Thanksgiving hands down
