We are closing on our house tomorrow and have the final walkthrough today. I walk out the front door and there are HUNDREDS of ants swarming my porch and crawling in the crack between the porch and the house. WTF?! What are you doing here?! Why did you suddenly appear?!
They're dead now - because I have no time for this today - but seriously, WTF?!
Mine is to DS, he spent an hour last night 4am-5am fighting sleep. He kept telling me "but I'm awake" umm no kid. Put your head on the pillow and close your eyes, this is unacceptable.
I can't stop peeing. If I laugh too hard, I have to run to the bathroom. If I stand up, I have to pee. If I walk, I have to pee. I'm wondering what baby is doing to my bladder right now.
@BayCamp I don't understand children fighting sleep. I welcome it. Give me sleep always. Though I'm sure I was the same as a kid.
@kissthesky32 ew I hate ants so much. Good job taking care of them. One of my apartments had ants so I bought this liquid stuff from Home Depot. It attracted them so they would eat it, but it was slow poison and gave them time to go back and tell the other ants about it so then all the ants ate it and died later. It was gross but effective. Worked at my parents' house too!
@kissthesky32 We had a wasp fly into the house yesterday. Ugh! It had stung the dog, so she invited it in? The dog ended up with a nice Benadryl nap and the wasp met its death via super spray. I don't mind bugs but they need to know their boundaries. And it's not within a 5' perimeter of the house. Lol
I don't mind bugs a whole lot and would have been happy to let the ants go on their merry way (as long as it didn't involve actually coming into my house), but the people buying our place are coming by soon to see it one more time before they give me all of their money tomorrow, so ants are definitely not welcome right now.
Mine is from last night. I got home from work and there were flys all over my kitchen! I was running around like a crazy person with a fly swatter. I killed at least 30 and there were still a couple I couldn't manage to get. WTF where did they come from! Then I had to OCD clean my floors and take the trash out and bleach all the countertops because I felt like everything was dirty. Not what I wanted to do at 8:00 at night.
@mariposa_767s we've got a small wasp nest by our front door and I've been afraid to get it since it's 12 feet up in our entryway and I'm about 5 foot tall. DH is allergic so it's falling on me to do. Our bug guy isn't due out for a few weeks and I can't justify leaving it there until then. I'm a little terrified of pissing off a whole nest
My 15 month old just fell down our basement stairs. I know, I know, #badmommoment but I want IN the basement switching laundry around and was watching her. She is excellent at stairs (mastered them at 9 months) and is very independent (i.e. She wants to do it herself!). Anyway, so I carry her back up, check her over and snuggle her a bit and what does this child do other than get up and run back to the stairs, which in my haste I forgot to close. WTF child. She looked at me and I told her 'no' then she laughed and started back down the stairs. Just wtf. Wtf. I have a feeling today's going to be a long day.
P.S. She is okay, I promise! Our pedi taught me how to check and she does not have a concussion and is eating and drinking normally!
@baycamp I typically like things that are natural and not totally toxic, but I will use the super toxic wasp spray. I've tried to be nice in the past, but they always come back! So I soak the nests in the bad stuff lol
@amber0529 We had drain fly problems in Korea because of how the kitchen plumbing was and I had to constantly bleach the sink drain and do boiling water/vinegar and baking soda treatments to kill the life cycle.
My ILs have a lot of harmless bugs around. Ants, june bugs, etc. I'm not looking forward to GA's bugs and snakes.
Yikes with all the bugs! We usually get tiny ants in our bathroom(?) in Feb/March but by summertime they are gone. My DH can't stand it. I grew up in a house in the middle of the woods so they don't bother me quite as much.

What's the range on the spray? I'm hoping for something I don't need to climb a ladder with, for obvious reasons.

@jesslardarello - Our 3.5 year old summersaulted down the whole flight of stairs a couple weeks ago because he decided it was a good idea to bring 7 books with him. The crash scared us so much! We kept checking him over and asking how he was. Somehow he was fine?!!?! If an adult had done that they would be in the hospital - seriously I don't know how kids do it!
Don't beat yourself up - kids takes risks (some good/lots bad) to learn. Glad she is okay!
DH found bugs in his cereal last night... and it was in an air tight container. Now I have to clean out my entire pantry and check everything for bugs.
Also for those of you who remember my WTF Wednesday from two weeks ago about a job, I tried to contact them, I negotiated and still never hear a thing back. So yeah, no job yet.
@klink15 I'm currently watching the history channel on my phone at work. I've gotten some stuff done but I can not concentrate. I'm honestly trying not to fall asleep lol
@2Dash Thank you! I honestly wasn't too worried about her (she's always been wild and taking crazy falls and we do know what to look for) but I also didn't want anyone else to think I was horrible. but seriously child wtf you just fell down the stairs and still want to play on them?! Lol.
Our street is closed. It's residents only. It had been for 3 months. I've never had an issue. Until this morning when we got a new traffic controller who decided not to let me thru. And then sarcastically said "i bet you missed ALL those signs up those 3 previous streets saying that its closed." I told him he needs to move his witches hat so i can get into my garage. Then he gave me this dirty and condesending look and slowly wandered away to move a witches hat. I dont know why but i wanted to get out of my car and pummel the guy into the ground.
WTF to my DH's work. We are supposed to be driving 1.5hrs away to pick up our new van tomorrow and we have babysitting all set up and we are ready to go, and suddenly he has 'something come up' so we won't be able to leave until after 11. I have to shift all the babysitting and fiddling with naps and lunches and damn it can't you just leave the man alone?
WTF #1: It's 109 today and the power company decided no one in our town can turn on central air between 4-8.
WTF #2: DD1's dad is a complete moron arguing with me about how I need to call her early "Wednesday morning" regardless of how many times I said TODAY IS WEDNESDAY. He kept talking to me like I'm an idiot and said to check the calendar etc etc when I'm clearly not wrong.
I live in the bathroom now. We are doing an intensive potty training with my 5 year old son, who has autism. I do have increased home hours for therapies for help with this, but I am still in there hours a day. Right now in fact. 5 minutes on, 5 minutes off. Which is fine. But then when it is DHs turn he decides to get DS "ready for bed" earlier the other day and then puts him in a diaper and dilly dallies around for 10 minutes before getting DS his meds. At which point I actually do the getting ready for bed work like brushing teeth, pjs, tuck in. If I spend hours a day in here, DH better do more than 30 some minutes. Plus, I have applied for at least 5 or 6 jobs in the past month. No interviews. I can always go back to subbing, but I really miss being in a library. I even applied for things I am way overqualified for and part time because I miss it so much and want to work in the same position consistently.
@jesslardarello The gates are down in our house - my 16 month old can climb the stairs just fine. But honestly, you just can't prevent every fall! My little guy who is 3 in 2 weeks fell down the stairs a couple days ago. Heck, IVE fallen down the stairs as an adult when distracted. Things just happen!
ps. I actually do have a gate at the bottom of the stairs, but it's just for keeping the big boys from coming up stairs yelling while the little one is sleeping. I'm always worried that I'll say something like that and then someone will catch me in a lie like, "ummm, you said you didn't have gates???" And think I'm a troll or something
@jesslardarello I am forever in awe of how often you watch (or hear) a kid fall and you're like " that's the one" and you mentally prepare yourself in the 2 seconds it takes to rush to their side to pick them up and see them covered in blood and instead you are met with a kid that's just really annoyed that you picked them up when they can stand up all by them self. Wtf to kids in general. how are they so resilient but then a tag in their shirt can make them cry for 20 minutes after its been removed and then will literally be the only story they tell anyone for weeks?

I laughed out loud at this. 100% my kids. They are so, so durable, but the littlest thing can get them going like crazy. DS skinned his knees, pinkie toe, and hands by falling on concrete the other day. He stood right up like nothing happened and tried to go along his merry way - blood and all.
I've fallen down the stairs before. Right after DD was born and I was carrying fresh pumped milk down the floor, that's a reason to cry over spilt milk. DD has called down the basement stairs before, my dad left the door open and she was fast. Luckily she bounced a few time and he caught her before she hit the cement. I'm sure she has fallen many times in the past.
@kissthesky23 Congrats on closing! Hope it went smoothly.
@jesslardarello Sometimes it just happens. I told my nephew to stop and wait for me once, but he's in the terrible twos and he jerked away and went right down the stairs. Luckily they were carpeted and there was padding at the bottom, but he was so scared.
@Perfectypo I hope they come through with the job! Having to check all the food sucks.
@c+mpeachy Why is it closed for so long? Must be super annoying!
@am+mommy I'm sorry he's making things so difficult for you. I'm sure you miss her a lot and I hope the temps go down for you.
@kyethra Good luck with potty training. It's a tough job, but you've got this, mama! I hope YH pitches in more and a job appears.
WTF to my job disabling a page I needed before the end of the work day. I hope I don't get emails about it because I'm out until September 6.
andplusalso, we watched fireworks near our house last night and baby did not like them one bit. It was kicking and doing flips and I felt like a bad mom for not realizing it could hear them.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@NYTino24 isn't it crazy that they can hear something like a car horn from outside and get startled by it? I keep being amazed at how they're developing.
@DuchessOfCambridge Yes! I went to a retirement dinner on Tuesday and baby was going nuts along with the noise in the hallway yesterday on the last day of school. I'm amazed at the strong reactions this baby has had since I'm not even 19 weeks yet, but it has always surpassed milestones. Must be that little push from my angel baby making him or her show me it's okay.

So I just made waffles. I cut the recipe in half...except for the oil. Ugh

@DuchessOfCambridge@NYTino24 it's crazy what baby reacts to My boy loves music (or really hates it) when I sing he stays still until I stop, then he kicks and flops until I go again, but with all other music (the radio, piano, anything) he kicks away throughout.

My baby would kick me in a "please shut up" way. Poor guy has a mother who can't sing.
Re: WTF Wednesday 6/21
They're dead now - because I have no time for this today - but seriously, WTF?!
DS1 is 7. DD is 1. DS2 is coming in late April.
