so over holding lo to sleep

Any suggestions? Not willing to make him cry it out.the second I put him down he screams I've tried letting him fuss for up to 15minof course comforting him every little bit.alls that did was make him lose his breath and make the next couple weeks a nightmare.he wouldn't let me more than a inch away after that.I need to get stuff done while he naps I've tried numerous times. with my older two they were the same way and ended up absolutely refusing naps and being very cranky after they stopped bf.Liam's still bf we were down to morning, nap and bedtime but now all week he's demanded to nurse like a newborn again(usually happens during wonder weeks and teething for him)I just can't get anything done!!!!!

Re: so over holding lo to sleep

  • I was completely against CIO also. Even with encouragement from my pedi, friends, family. But I was desperate so I tried it at 10 months, it was horrible. I swore I'd never try it again, but then at a year I tried it again and it was a miracle. He whined (not cried) for just about 2 mins and was out. It was wonderful. He goes to bed so easy after a bath, bottle, prayers, teeth brushing,  a story and a lullaby. He still gets up at least once but I go in hold him for just a minute and love on him then put him right back down for the rest of the night.
For naps, they came easier after his night time got better. I rock him to sleep or drowsy for a couple mins then lay him down. He takes 1 nap from about 11:30-2:30 every day. Life is SOOO much better now that he naps and sleeps.
I guess he just needed to be ready for sleep. Once he figured out how good it was, he loved it. Also prior to him learning to sleep, we coslept up till a year old. It was a huge change, but SOOOO much better now. I send my sympathies... Mama needs time and baby needs sleep. Good luck!

  • We still cosleep.he's never slept in his bed BC he freaks out even though its right beside ours.and he still wakes up a lot(lately he was sleeping most of night but I think its a "wonder week"thing)i tried a few times to let him just cry for a little (up to 15min while checking n on him or laying were he could see me)but he SCREAMS till he loses his breath.and then we go through WEEKS of him not letting me out of his sight at any point and him being extremely emotional and upset
  • How's it going for ya?
  • We were doing good for a week and a half at naps.I brought a comforter down and put on living room floor and if make sure he was super tired rock him to sleep and lay him down on it and if ed start to wake up if lay beside him and let him nurse then he'd sleep about 2hours...well...this week his last 2k9s r pushing the rest of way through so even at night he wants to stay latched on.he also has been super clingy since he had a big fall down the stairs
  • Poor little guy!yeah these teeth are horrible!!!
