I think I am finally done with the continuous bloodwork! Had an ultrasound yesterday at 5w6d and everything looks great! I am expecting when the nurse calls today I won't have anything else until my 8 week appt on the 29th.
Good! Letting the news sink in that it's really real! We plan to tell family Thursday & the weekend. It's early so I'm nervous because we had a loss with our 1st pregnancy at 6w5d. I'm just excited and want to share with everyone. I can't worry about the "what ifs." I was worried my whole pregnancy with my DS and I want to try and enjoy my last pregnancy (god willing)
BFP July 2014. Low Progesterone. DS born by repeat c-section for breech presentation. BFP November 2011 TWINS!!!. Lost a twin at 7 weeks. DS born VBAC. BFP July 2009. DD born via c/section for breech presentation. BFP Jan. 2009. Missed miscarriage at 9 weeks.D&C March 2010 December 2009 - Diagnosed with bicornuate uterus.
I'm a FTM as well @Chawk17. So far I have gotten extra blood tests and ultrasounds. I'm 6w4d. Had an US last week, one this week and then my 8 week appt on the 29th. The nurse said if we're all good after that I'll go on a regular schedule. What have you had so far? Every doctor is different.
I haven't had any yet I'll call OB Monday and let them know i got my bfp friday. I'm a Clomid patient with one tube so I don't know if that'll require more screening..or normal checks. I'm 5w2d. Last pregnancy ( I was in November 17) group my HCG levels rose but didn't double and I had to take progesterone. So I guess once we find out Hcg levels I'll know more.
Hey ladies! Still letting the news sink in over here! This will be my first pregnancy over 35, just turned 36 on the 6th. I'll be interested to see how this pregnancy differs or what my OB does differently. We've previously always turned down all the additional genetic testing but I think some of them may be more highly recommended over 35.
BFP #1 11/28/09 ~ EDD 8/6/10 ~ DS Born 8/9/10 BFP #2 8/27/13 ~ EDD 5/8/14 ~ Natural MC 9/18/13 at 6 weeks, 6 days BFP#3 3/28/14 ~ EDD 12/7/14 ~ DD Born 11/21/14 BFP#4 6/15/17 ~ EDD 2/20/18
I'm not entirely sure about all of the additional testing. I was planning to ask my doctor at my 8 week appt. He has mentioned before that he recommends the genetic testing for AMA and my insurance will cover it because of my age so I will probably do that.
Ladies, i'm 38. Please chill out about being over 35, the doctor says i'm fine and in terrific health. There are people even older than me here. Just remember that.
I don't think anyone's freaking out about being AMA. What this DOES mean is we get tests approved by insurance such as genetic testing. That we would otherwise have to pay for. I'm going to go on a limb and say a majority got pregnant intentionally knowing our age. All we were doing is discussing the difference of testing when older vs younger. Thank you. @asly02!
I don't think anyone is freaking out about being AMA. Just like @Chawk17 said we have different things going on concerning testing, insurance, etc.... Nice to discuss it with other mom's in the same position.
@chucksmom15, my OB recommends NIPT (i.e.: Harmony, ect), but mostly because my insurance will fully cover it. I will be just shy of 36 when I deliver and this will be our third child, so she doesn't consider this pregnancy to be any more complicated or dangerous than my previous pregnancies. She doesn't consider me AMA, even though my insurance does, and will handle my pregnancy the same way she's handled all of the others. Unless there's a reason to handle it differently, anyway.
We are the same age @BelhurstBride. I will be 36 in 2 months. It sounds like once I pass my 8 week appointment I will be treated as a normal pregnancy as well. I also had to have some places removed from my cervix 2 years ago so it possible that plus my age is the reason for the additional attention. He is not forcing me to do the NIPT but since my insurance will cover it we have decided to do it.

I had my first appointment today. No ultrasound have to wait a bit just a lot of info thrown at me. I am 34 will be 35 and because of my "age" we can opt into genetic testing. That was really nerve-wracking to hear all about that.
Friday is my first OB appt EVER! I hope we get the ultrasound, etc, and I think we should. I've been waiting three weeks....soo ready!! Hubby and I are tempering our emotions until Friday, which is probably stupid. I'm gonna be happy NOW!!
Hi all, 36 and roughly 6 weeks pregnant with my 4th. I'm feeling nervous and nauseated. Not to mention I'm considered high risk due to this being a 4th csection, so the closest Dr is over 2 hours away
I'm 38 (will be 39 in Sept), pregnant with my first, due Feb 8th. Anyone like me, a firstie??!! I'd love to make a small community with some similar aged folks!
I'm a FTM and currently 36, will be 37 by the time February rolls around. One of my nurses said not to worry about the AMA title, however I am automatically going to be having much more testing/genetic testing done. I have my first appointment tomorrow but no US for another 3-4 weeks (I'm currently 8w5d). I really, really wish they would do an US tomorrow. It would put my mind at ease.
We decided to change this to a monthly thread b/c all the weeks were getting jumbled up. We wanted to be able to create more of a community so we can keep up with each other. Created a 35 and over- July thread today. Come join us over there!!!
