  • Finishing up most of the cleaning for DS'S birthday party next weekend. I haven't planned anything because nothing was planned for me and DH said he was going to see if his dad wanted to go to lunch or something and I've heard zilch.  I would much rather see my dad, but at least they'll be up next weekend.
  • @Kathryn0903 Enjoy your shower!!!!

  • I am in a wedding today. Hair and make up starts at 11:00. The wedding is not till 5. I have a feeling this will be a longgggg day....
  • Newborn essentials class followed by infant cpr class at the hospital and dinner w. friends tonight.  Dads day is brunch with my parents than beach and dinner w. DH family. Soooo busy.
Next year we might combine families so DH and I can do something just us too.

DH family is dinner at their house not out type family but they have cats, my dad is deathly allergic so he can't be in their house, thus seperate events. Otherwise they get along and live 5mins from eachother, so
    TW:
    1 infant loss
    8/17: Our daughter was born
8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass
2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old
    4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
  • DH is still sleeping, even after DD woke him up about 15 times. He sleeps like a rock  :(. I need a pedicure badly so I plan to go in an hour and leave DD with him. Otherwise, it's finally cooled down here so we have 80s as highs. It's supposed to rain today but hoping to grill out for lunch and DD requested to play playdough with dad. He'll probably work on finishing her sandbox too.

  • @lewliv that sounds fun!

DH, DD, and I are about to go shopping. Big fun. Tomorrow we are going to church and then my parents are coming over for dinner for Father's Day. No real plans besides that.

  • TDaP shot for DH and I this morning, followed by treating myself to a chocolate croissant from a French bakery on the way home  :#

Church tomorrow; got DH a mug that says Trophy Dad from the Target dollar section for his first Father's Day!
  • DH is painting the ceiling of our nursery (it's an off white and looks terrible with our freshly painted white walls). We are also going to ikea to pick up our dresser and night stand! :)

  • We had our childbirth class today, and hispitsl
tour. DH kept asking me how I was (thinking I might be freaking out) and I surprisingly feel super zen about the whole thing. If anyone had asked me a few months ago, I would have said super nervous, but now I'm just chill. Not sure what really changed. Tomorrow we are chilling at home. Both our dads are out of town, so we will call them, and then do our own thing. DH wants to go to a burger joint, so I get a milk shake, but that's really our only plan.

Today I took DD to see Beauty in the Beast with her best friend from school and his mom. Then later my mom and stepdad came up to celebrate Father's Day early with him. Tomorrow I'm hoping we can spend some time at the pool before we go to my ILs house for Father's Day. I'll leave that up to DH though if he wants to go.

  • DH is a lineman and unless he's on vacation, he's on call 24/7 and can get kept late at work with no warning or indication of when he'll be off. He's worked 24 hours straight before and can get sent out of state if there are hurricanes, snow/ice storms, tornadoes, etc with no other information than pack for 2 weeks. I get so mad when people post on Facebook complaining about their power being out and how ridiculous it is that it takes so long to get it back on.  I just had to drop some knowledge on someone. Oh, boo hoo, 5 hours without power? I've had to go days not knowing when I'm going to see my husband or barely spoke to him, he's worked through thunderstorms and literally pulled icecicles from his beard so quit whining.
  • @SouthernMama15 preach!! And kudos to you for wife-ing through that. That takes a certain kind of grit!

@SouthernMama15 RIGHT!? not like I've already birthed a child or anything..
I get pretty bitter about people complaining when their spouse has to be gone for a long weekend or something short term. Like 'oh my DH has a business conference, I'm going to have my hands sooo full this weekend  :'( '. Which isn't fair because that's not their normal but you totally get what I'm talking about!!!
I get kinda mad when the power is out but I'm not mad at the line workers or anything, I'm just mad the power is out. It'd have to be out for a loooong time for me to complain to anyone but myself though.

  • @mrsmatt1212 thanks, I know it's nothing compared to military families, but it just irritated me.  I wasn't mean, but I did give her a run down on the multiple reasons power goes out.
  • @Nxy it's not even the timeframe with me, it's the uncertainty of it and knowing he could get hurt. Nowhere near what I'm sure you've experienced, I have crazy respect for military families and I don't think I could handle it.
  • NxyNxy member
@SouthernMama15 uh I mostly deal with that by ignoring the fact that his job is inherently dangerous. Denial.

I FaceTimed with my dad today. He's in India for 5 more days. I also logged onto my social media accounts to see my sister posting photos of her and dad with the #favoritedaughter tag. I literally laughed and thought about how ridiculous she was being.
