What are some of your favorite apps for kids' learning? We recently got an iPad and are looking for suggestions for worthwhile apps. Letters, shapes, colors, animals, anything!

  • Not big on apps and iPads for our boys so we limit it to about once a week for 30-45 minutes. I'll say that they can learn so much though! My preschool teacher sister recommended starfall and it was awesome for teaching our now 4 year old his numbers and letters. Also, a fun one is what we call the night night game. I can't remember the name but it's a bedtime game where you turn out the lights for all the animals and it's very soothing and nice.

    BabyFruit Ticker
  • Mine (2.5yo) is obsessed with you tube  :/  she does seem to learn from the videos she end up watching though. The other night she ased DH to juggle for her and we don't know how she learned about juggling otherwise.

She also does enioy different type of puzzles, interactive activities like hungry little caterpillar, paint by number, etc. I can get the names of some specific apps later!

  • We have a few favorites:
    StoryBots (free educational music videos)
    Duplo games (free)
    Toca Boca Doctor (paid)
Sago mini games (paid and free)

my niece is obsessed with Puzzingo, you move the puzzle pieces into place and when you finish it gives you a little game.

And the ABCs in the Fisher Price laugh & learning letters Monkey App. That has been a hit since she was under a year and she is 2.5 now and still loves it.
  • DS loves all of the different BabyFirst character apps and Daniel Tiger from PBS kids

The "Dr Panda" brand games are all really cute, and my LO loves "Pet Doctor" in particular right now. The main screen is a waiting room, and you have to take care of each animal in turn. Very intuituve. I actually love it too.
