Infertility

July FET

Hey ladies!

Getting this thread started as I didn't see one and I just got word my very tentative date for my FET is July 19th.

If you know your calendars/schedules already please share. :)

I also thought about maybe incorporating a question of the week (non-fertility) related into its thread to lighten things up. What do y'all think?

Re: July FET

  • Hi:) I was scheduled to have a June FET, but it got moved to July due to a cyst, so I'm scheduled to start Lupron on 6/10, with a baseline scan on 6/19 (please be gone cyst!) and an estimated transfer between 7/10-7/25.  I am transferring one golden embie, as it was the only one of 4 blasts tested from my 2nd ER that was normal.  I am 41 y/o and married for the first time about 1.5 year ago, so we went straight to IVF (following 2 fibroid surgeries) due to our age. My first ER in January resulted in 19 eggs, only 8 mature, with 13 fertilized and only one 6-day blast, which tested as abnormal.  Second ER in April resulted in 16 eggs, 15 mature, 13 fertilized with 2 6-day embryos and 2 7-day embryos. Only one Day 6 6BA embie passed the testing!

Due to the fact that I only have one golden embie, I requested immune and thrombo testing, which revealed that I have both, so I have started baby aspirin and will need to be on Heparin during the pregnancy and Metanx (folate).

Question (non-fertility related) of the week would a welcome distraction, as it is hard not be consumed by IVF!
    Me: 41; DH: 45
Both married for the first time in our 40s; went straight to IVF after multiple fibroid surgeries
    (2/17) ER: #1:  agonist/antagonist protocol: 19 eggs; 8 mature; 13 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable)
    (4/17) ER: #2: same protocol but stimmed an extra 2 days:  16 eggs; 10 mature (5 more matured in lab); 13 fertilized; 2 6-day blasts (5AA & 6BA) & 2 7-day blasts (6BA & 5BB):  only 1 Day 6 6BA tested normal!
    FET on 7/10/17
    Beta on 7/21/17:  Negative:(
    (8/17) ER #3:  9 eggs; 6 mature; 3 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable)
Developed severe complications (abdominal bleeding) following egg retrieval which required hospitalization, transfusion & emergency surgery.  Done with IVF.
  • Thanks for starting this thread so early on! I was also suppose to have a June FET. But instead I will have hysteroscopy.

If I'm lucky, I will be able to have a July FET

And I agree, weekly question will be a nice distraction

I'll be a July FET . Awaiting period after hysterscopy and D&C for polyp removal and lining clean up ( it was ragged wth that means...)
  • We are doing ER in June and are scheduled for FET end of July. Sending biopsies of embryos for PGS so have to wait a bit. Does anyone know about how long that takes? This is literally my first post on here. Have been stalking all of these boards for like, 3 years now and figure it is time to start talking. We start injections on Monday and I am a mix of emotions. Sending good thoughts and vibes to everyone on here.

  • @graceash welcome! As for PGS, I think it depends on the lab. In the lab i used, we got the result within 2 days that they received the embryos. Other labs take up to 2 weeks I think.

  • Hi ladies - doing hopefully my last cycle of IVF and then an FET.

Knottie3527477 where did you get your immune bw done and were you covered for it.  (TW) i MC twins at 10wks in Jan of this year (that were healthy and strong in the US that morning) and my acupuncturist mentioned the same testing to me as one of the babies was normal.  And we still dont know the cause of the MC.  I did a fresh transfer and didn't do pgs testing and did the after the MC unfortunately (TW OVER) Like you I'm 41 I'm in my 4th cycle of IVF banking embryos now in hopes of my miracle babies!  Hopefully this will be my last round but trying to make sure I have every test possible to avoid having another MC.

graceash i'm actually stemming now, you should join us on the june ivf board as well, especially if its your first round.  PGS results usually take a few days BUT they usually tell you 2 weeks so they have the buffer if it takes longer.  I've had PGS done 3x now and they usually come right when AF arrives.  Best of luck to you!

Hoping and praying to have a transfer in July with you guys! I was supposed to in June, but my lining is too thick, so assuming I get a proper, scheduled period that takes care of that, i should have my transfer around July 20. CP with my fresh IVF, then NP with my first FET, so hopefully third time will be the charm! Going to the doctor tomorrow to discuss possible changes to my protocol to hopefully improve my chances!

And yes let's add some non baby related conversation. Please. I can start one now for whoever wants to share, especially cause it sounds like those of us who already posted are already dealing with the waiting game!

What's your favorite TV show to binge watch (especially to take your mind off waiting lol I could use some new ideas for this coming cycle)?

Mine is either Leverage or Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Love them both!
  • Welcome to everyone who has joined!

@nmtay  This weekend my husband and I binged the second season of Master of None.  Now that's done and I'm watching The Keepers.
  • @nmtay i started watching the latest season of house of card... I'll be done in 2 episodes. But then there will be the new season of orange is the new black  B)

  • Hi ladies!

I'm just starting bcp to gear up for the transfer so my guess is that my transfer will be in July. I'm praying that the sonohysterogram is just going to be fine. No polyps please!

As for binge watching... I just finished Big Little Lies and that was great! Acting was superb though the ending was a bit surprising. I figured half way through the series who was going to be killed, but how that was going to happen was quite a surprise. I love Brooklyn Nine-Nine too!!  That is my go-to show when I'm feeling a bit bummed or stressed and I want to be entertained. Another show I binge watched recently and enjoyed was Sneaky Pete on Amazon. Oh and Catastrophe is always good.

  • Hopeful_mom:  My RE conducted the immune and thrombo testing, per my specific request (he never brought it up to me, but was totally agreeable to doing it), but sent it to an outside lab.  My clinic billed my insurance company, but I do not yet know if it was covered.  If it isn't, it will cost $1500, but at this point, I'm doing anything I can to ensure a successful transfer, as I only have one normal embie. I asked my RE if I could do the testing after reading about women whose tested embryos didn't implant, and learning that a lot of it was from immune issues.  My mom got RA when she was in her 20s and I have a number of family members with immune issues, so I just thought, why not -- at least if the FET doesn't work out, I know it wasn't due to anything on my side of things.  It's funny because my DH, who is a doctor, thought I was being over-the-top in asking for the testing.  The nurses also tried to dissuade me, telling me it was expensive, insurance might not cover it, etc.  Low and behold, it turns out I have a number of immune and thrombo issues (Factor V, APA, don't metabolize folate, etc.) that are generally good to know about (i.e., I'm at a higher risk for blood clots, so now I take a baby aspirin every night).  I'm just glad I listened to that little voice in my head.

As for shows:  my DH and I recently watched all of Mad Med from start to finish -- we had watched it on and off in the past, but it was super fun to see the progression through the years.  But I have to admit, I'm a huge House Hunters fan, so I watch an episode every night to just detach.  It's fun to see what houses in different parts of the county look like and cost.  Makes me want to leave Southern California!!

  • Knottie3527477 thanks so much for the info so is that what i'm asking for?  immune and thrombo testing?  I'm lucky my insurance covers blood and some meds for me and thats it.  Is it bad when i say i pretty much have spent my life savings what another 1500.  I've done 3 cycles to bank embryos after my (TW) mc of twins.  I finally have 4 normies to work with but I'm still terrified to have another mc!  I'm mad at myself as I always have thought I have issue with blood circulation as I always have cold hands and feet so I shouldve been taking that baby aspirin!

cashewchicken hey girlie - maybe we'll be at it together again :)

As for shows: I was surprised at how much I enjoyed designated survivor!  I was a huge fan of The Good Wife on CBS and then they came out with The Good Fight on CBS demand so I've been waiting for the season to be over to binge watch that one!

  • Hopeful_mom: Yes, ask for immune (which will also test the thyroid) and thrombophelia ("thrombo") panel testing.  Thrombo testing tests for blood clotting disorders.  I think they typically test both at the same time, but one is a blood test and the other is a saliva test.  The nurse at my clinic said that they would code it with a diagnostic code (which helps with insurance coverage), so ask your clinic if they can do that for you too.  But definitely do both.  Yep -- I feel you on the cost -- what's another $1500, right?!?  Ugh.  But so many congrats on your 4!  Each one is so precious, I completely think you are right to do everything you can to help your chances.  Good luck!!

Thanks for all the show ideas! We went to the doctor on Monday for a follow up after our last failed FET and decided to have our remaining frosties PGS tested. But we also learned that there's a solid 50%+ chance that we'll have to do another egg retrieval in July instead of an FET...the lab called today that the biopsies were successful and are being shipped tomorrow so now we just need to wait and hear back before we can know enough to make a decision...i just can't even process it still which is why i couldn't bring myself to post before today...
  • nmtay thats exciting!  How many did you send for testing?  Its a great sign that your embabies are strong and can survive through the process hoping you get them all back!!  Its hard making decisions as you wait for the results!

  • Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. Is it July yet?

What are everyone's plans leading up to the transfer? Special diet? Added supplements, etc.

Bonus, for fun question. What are you most looking forward to in the next few weeks?
  • I'm also gearing up for a July transfer. I'm on day 7 of stims now with the ER scheduled sometime next week... IVF has already been delayed due to polyps needing to be removed.
My hubby and I like to watch Gotham, OITNB and I admit I like to watch Bravo shows. ;)
Anyone doing any diets or cleanses before FET? I have been sick the whole stims process with a cold and feel like I need a detox after ER next week and want to be as healthy as possible for the transfer in July.
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.
  • It feels like I've been waiting forever, as my 2nd ER was in April!  I have my baseline u/s on 6/19 so I'm hoping that the cyst has gone away and we can continue with the FET which should occur around July 10.  Saying lots of prayers in the meantime!  As for plans leading up to the transfer, I plan on eating a lot of protein, water, fiber and limiting my alcohol to 1-2 drinks a week (might even cut it out altogether -- still debating this).  I only have one cup of coffee a day, so I will likely keep drinking that and just limit caffeine in general. Keep up the exercise and move more.  I've been doing weekly acupuncture, but honestly, I'm not really a believer.  I will likely do it for a few weeks leading up to the FET and then do it on the day of (right before and right after), but it's just so $$, and I have to take time off work to do it, I find it just kinda annoying.  Someone I know just got her BFP (with twins!) after her 2nd IVF/FET and she told me her "secret" was strict bed rest for three days post-transfer.  Her RE recommended it and she didn't do it for her first FET.  She didn't work at all during those days and found it very relaxing.  I plan to do the same.  Will be hard to totally unplug from work, but honestly, whenever I find myself stressing over work, I tell myself, "this is not the most important thing in your life right now", which re-focuses me on what is:  having a baby.

As for what I'm looking forward to the next few weeks:  we have some fun get togethers planned with friends, so I'm just focusing on having some FUN.  Honestly, after 2 ERs and delays for this FET, I'm just getting so bored of this whole IVF thing.  It has made me kinda boring myself, so I'm going to try to focus on non-IVF things -- exercise more, explore more, read more, interact more, etc.

  • Knottie3527477 i hear ya on the wait!  I got my first normie in my 5th cycle of ivf in april but i wanted to bank but the waiting to get to FET is still there!!  Good luck on concentrating on other things...I just can't..granted i'm in the middle of stemming waiting for ER in a couple of days sooo I have a good excuse too right ;)  It's hard trying to stay "extra healthy"  I do what I can i guess at this point.  I've pretty much given up all alcohol but not coffee, I used to drink a pot a day and now do decaf and a couple of cups, not easy but I try!
I agree with you on acupuncture is very expensive for me and I dont love it at all AND I get stressed about making appointments BUT I will also say the normies i got i did make it to acupuncture a few times during the cycle so I do wonder if its something I need.  (TW) during ivf 3/fresh transfer I did acupuncture pre and post and got my bfp with twins but lost them at 10wks and I was very stressed at work when I did get that bfp, and was off for 3 weeks and then first lost them, so go figure.  I'm glad my body can deal with the stress even though I rather be more relaxed for the process of everything for sure!

  • @knottie3527447 My RE does strict bed rest for 3 days post transfer. I've been saving magazines and saving a bunch of movies on my DVR. I also bought a bed tray thing so I have a little table thing to eat meals on while on bed rest.

For my plans leading up I'm just trying to be healthier overall. More gym time, healthier foods, less alcohol/caffeine.

I'm most looking forward to a few weekends coming up. My husband and I are doing a weekend anniversary trip to Memphis at the end of the month and then are going to see Garth Brooks on July 1. I'm trying to plan a lot of things to distract myself and help pass the time.
  • QUESTION FOR ALL!!

Trying to figure out my own calendar here how long after you get your AF is your transfer?  I believe I'll be doing a medicated cycle.  I've never done BCP before so not sure whether i would be given that or not.  Any info is appreciated - thanks!

  • Hopeful_mom:  Wow, 7 IVFs -- you have my true respect -- you are a trooper!  It looks like you got 4 golden embie out of it (and likely more after this next ER), so it was worth it:) Yes, I think you are probably right about acupuncture, as I did it throughout my 2nd cycle and got my golden embie out of it, so I do think there is something to is, especially for transfer.  I will likely do it, but I think it's just my boredom from this whole thing that is causing me to question it.  And yes, if you are close to your ER, you are definitely in the thick of things.  Good luck to you!!

MMD1986:  I love that tray idea!!  I think I might need to get one:)  I'm so jealous of your Garth Brooks concert! I love his songs.  "The Dance" always make me teary.

  • @knottie3527477 I got the tray on Amazon and it was pretty cheap.  Also can set my laptop up on it so it doesn't get so hot on the bed/my lap.  It should be nice to have for sure.

@hoepful_mom I hope you retrieval goes well tomorrow!!!
  • Hopeful_mom:   Yes, good luck tomorrow!!  Also, I didn't quite understand your question.  Are you asking how many days post AF does your FET occur?  I think it depends on your protocol, but per my calendar (which includes 2 weeks of BCP with overlap of Lupron for the last 5 days of that 2 week period), it looks like i should expect my period the day after stopping BCP and FET is then 3.5 weeks from that date.  I only have a target date range for my FET, as it depends on whether my lining is right by then.  Hope that helps!  Ask your nurses though - that is what you are paying for! :)

Hi Ladies!  I am moving over from the June FET board.  You can see my stats in my signature.  I was supposed to have my second FET June 26th, but it was pushed back a week due to complex cysts that were found in my breasts during my annual gyno appointment last week.

Now for the protocol... I had a Lupron Depot injection on May 17th just as a precaution to help quiet any endo that may be left after the surgery I had in March.  I started baby aspirin May 19th.  I went for baseline US and blood work last Wednesday.  I was supposed to also have an endometrial scratch, but it was postponed until we heard about what was going on with the cysts.  Now I have a new baseline monitoring appointment this Wednesday, and that's when the scratch will be done also.  I will be taking Estradiol and PIO.

We did not do any PGS testing on our embryos last summer and every time I hear this talked about on here I feel some regret.  Our doctor didn't feel it was necessary though because of my "young" age and good health, as well as my husband's.  Being that it was expensive and more cost on top of everything else (I don't have coverage for treatments), I was glad she didn't recommend it.  Then we went through two CPs (one fresh and one frozen) and I thought we should have done it.  Our doctor still didn't suggest it after that... because we still have good looking embryos left.  She also said that testing them at this point would be too risky to them.  So although I'm not much of a gambler, that's what I feel like haha.  I'm just going to hope that maybe the endo we didn't know I had at the time was affecting the implantation.  Hopefully now that it's been handled, things will go more smoothly.

I have never tried acupuncture... I feel like I don't know what to do anymore, as far as dos and donts.  After already going through two transfers that resulted in BFPs that didn't last, I don't know what the magic is.  I find it interesting how different the advice is that we all get.  Some of you gals are talking about bed rest... My clinic says bed rest is a no no.  They say it restricts blood flow and that is not good for implantation.  They recommend going about activities as normal.  For my fresh transfer last summer, I did not even lay at all right after the transfer.  I got right up... and I had 3 great betas.  Sadly, I began bleeding somewhere in between betas and things didn't last.  But I can remember going out to lunch with DH after the transfer... Then coming home and laying down for a little while (mainly because I was using Endometrin and I felt I needed to lay a while to keep it from coming out of me), but then I did yoga later that afternoon.

After my first FET in the fall, I decided to lay for a few minutes after the transfer to switch things up.  I got a BFP, but my numbers were definitely not as good as the fresh transfer.  What's funny is that I feel like I tried to lay low more with the FET... Rest more, not do as much... and it went worse than the fresh transfer when I did more activity!

As for binge-watching shows, I need to catch up with you ladies.  Some of those shows I'd never even heard of!  I most recently watched 13 Reasons Why, which was good.  Kinda depressing and heavy at times, but good.  If I want an old reliable that I've seen many times, I put on Sons of Anarchy.  I will have to try some of your suggestions.  I love watching Married at First Sight!  I find it so intriguing and crazy haha.

@Knottie3527477 I just saw Wonder Woman last week and it was awesome!  It was in 3D, which was cool too.  I love her... It stems from my brother's love of the original show with Lynda Carter when he was a kid.  I bought the Halloween costume probably 10 years ago and wear it every year at work (I teach K) for Halloween.  I am thinking of getting the new costume, but of course it's super expensive right now with the movie out.

As for fun things I'm looking forward to... Well, two of my closest friends live in my neighborhood and since we all teach and are off for the summer, we have weekly wine nights, which I love.  We get together in our comfy clothes/pjs and no makeup and pig out and drink wine all night haha.  @cashewchicken you and your big bag of Cheetos would fit right in lol.  So tomorrow night I have a wine night with another friend who lives nearby... Wednesday I am treating myself to my annual summer mani/pedi... Saturday DH and I are heading to a baseball game with my brother and some friends...

I noticed some of you mentioned cutting out/back on alcohol.  That is a struggle for me.  Not that I drink a ton, but when we are at a social event, I definitely partake... and we have a lot of social events coming up.  I have already been trying to think up some good excuses for post transfer because we have several events after that where I know drinks will be involved... Any ideas?  Besides telling the truth lol.

Sending good thoughts to you all!

Knottie3527477 yes i will bother my nurses after I get through ER - i dont like to overwhelm them with my questions too much now ;)  I see everyone has different protocols hoping mine is a bit shorter!  And I think it is from what I remember last time when i asked but maybe thats wishful thinking ;)

joneser1281 I still havent gone for my yearly OB as I've lived at the clinic, I know its bad and should find time to go before a transfer and yet I dont want to.  Can't say reading your update in June thread freaks me even more about heading to one.  I should be such a baby after going through so many cycles of ivf i no!  My OB no longer takes my insurance so thats probably part of the reason I haven't gone either, cant catch a break.  As for excuses, I know I used in the past being on antibiotics and that seemed good enough for some.  Another time I had the bartender make my drink look like they were "drinks" even though it was seltzer water and a splash of cranberry.  Even just using a lemon wedge and small straw goes a long way too!

You would think I would be sleeping needing to be up so early for ER yet here I am and can't catch a wink.  I hate that I'm always so anxious for these ER!

  • joneser1281:  Welcome!  I was supposed to do a June FET but it got pushed a month when they found a cyst on my ovary, so I feel you on the disappointment of the delay.  Geez - cysts in your breasts due to these meds?  My mom is very worried about the effect that these drugs will have on me. But then again, she's a mom:)

You know, I was talking with the woman that I know that is current preggo with twins via her 2nd IVF and of course I was asking her all her "secrets" and while admitted that the only thing she did differently for her 2nd FET was the bed rest, she ended it with saying, which I have come to COMPLETELY agree with, that most of what you do/don't do/ingest/don't ingest will not make one lick of difference.  It just helps us feel in control and avoid future regret.  I honestly think that if I have a strong embie and decent insides, it will work.  That coffee or wine or activity won't really make a difference.  That said, I don't want to regret anything, and I do think that, for me, I just feel better/sleep better when I don't drink (I didn't drink at all for the 3 months prior to my 2nd ER), I think I will just lay off the wine for the 3.5 week cycle.  Funny thing is that my FET is 2 weeks before my annual (30+ years!) family beach week, so I will likely find out if I am preggo at the beginning of the trip.  But if I'm not, at least I can enjoy the week at the beach with some wine. Either way, I win:)

btw -- your wine nights sound divine -- I'd think twice about giving those up:)

  • @Hopeful_mom Girl I hear you... But I find that my clinic tries to stay in the fertility realm.  They wanted nothing to do with reading my mammogram and US scans.  They halted my treatment pending what the gyno recommended.  So I guess it's good to see the gyno too.  I felt like I jinxed myself because on the way to that appointment I was thinking about how it's always no big deal.  Boy was I wrong this time!  But I guess I was lucky in that it turned out ok.  The same thing happened to me when I went to the gyno for the very first time.  I'd put it off for a few years and then when I finally went and had my first pap, it was abnormal!  I had to have a colposcopy and then the Gardasil vaccine.  I was like see!  This is why I didn't want to start going!  Haha.  That sucks though that your insurance isn't accepted.

Thank you for the excuse suggestions, haha.  I feel like no one ever buys the antibiotics excuse for me though.  My friends and I tend to commit to drinking at social events whether or not we take medications so even if I said I was taking something, they'd be like so... why aren't you drinking though?  Haha, hardcore I know.  I have thought about having fake drinks made... That would work if I'm not around many close friends... But people who know me know I am not a mixed drink gal.  I am a beer and wine gal.  Maybe they will believe I am turning over a new leaf... Nah, they'll just ask me if I'm PG haha.  I hope everything went well for you today!  Let us know!

@Knottie3527477 Thank you for the welcome!  Yes, moms are such worriers.  I was just writing on the June FET thread that my mom had breast cancer about 16 years ago.  Luckily it was stage 1 and she got it taken care of.  Since she was 52 when diagnosed, her cancer wasn't considered to be genetic, but more environmental?  Though we can't figure out what caused it because she's not a drinker or smoker and exercises regularly.  She had been taking estrogen for menopause at the time, but there wasn't a definite connection to that either.  Her doctors at the time had said that I shouldn't take BCPs though just in case there was a connection, so I never did until my first IVF cycle last summer.  But research changes so much over the years.  Now her doctors (as well as my gyno and RE) say that these meds don't cause breast cancer, but are more likely to cause ovarian cancer.

I totally agree with what you're saying though.  I don't think it matters either what we do or don't do.  If an embryo is good and the conditions are good, I don't think anything will stop it from doing its thing.  I know we IF patients are "special," but think about the average women.  Half of the time they are PG and don't even know it.  They go about their days as usual eating, drinking, exercising, stressing, etc. and have perfectly healthy pregnancies and babies.  Wow, good for you for not drinking 3 months prior to your ER.  That takes some willpower!  Maybe I am a bigger drinker than I am letting on... LOL.  I guess it's hard to discern what to do because there are people who follow all of the "rules" and their transfers don't work out... and people who just go about life as normal and theirs do work out... and vice versa.  Que sera sera I guess!

That's so funny you mentioned finding out before your vaca.  I'm with you!  My FET getting bumped back a week totally screwed with our vaca.  The FET was supposed to be June 26... Beta on July 5 and 7... Then leave for vaca on the 8th.  So then when my FET was moved to July 3, I was stressing.  I would be due for beta on July 12... While we would be gone.  My clinic said I could try to have the beta done somewhere on vaca (stressful) or wait until I got back and have it on July 16 (also stressful).  So I just moved our vaca back a week.  Now it will be FET July 3... Beta July 12 and maybe 14... Then we leave the 15th.  I just want to know before we leave.  That way I can either be totally upset, but know it's safe for me to have some cocktails at the beach... Or I'll know I can't drink and hopefully just relax in the beach atmosphere.  I figure it's better than being at home, where time stands still between monitoring appts after a BFP.

  • Oh and I forgot to mention another good show to binge watch if you've never seen it... The Fall on Netflix.  I forgot about it because I watched it all last summer.  It's only 3 seasons, but so good.  It has Jamie Dornan in it... I guess there are no more seasons to come because Christian Grey has more on his plate now than doing tv, haha.  However, it's a very different role... I definitely recommend it!

  • I have been binging Orange is the New Black this week as I haven't been feeling good with all the injections for ER. Trigger tonight. Love this show!
  • Holls214 your triggering tonight woo hoo thats awesome!!!  I feel like it went fast for you - yay for taking ur last shot for the cycle!!

joneser1281 SO glad you got to push your vaca back and that can all work out.  I can't tell you the last time i've been away and have gotten to enjoy some peace.  It sux all around.  And you ladies are right so many others can get pregnant doing whatever.  I wont get started with people on drugs and partying it up end up preggers no problem.  An acupuncturist will say its because they're stress free - yea whatever!  However because I have been on this journey so long I try to put that focus first.  I still drink coffee - decaf and have cut down a bunch but i dont think in this last year it has made a difference in my cycles.  I really have been able to curb the drinking but thats probably cause i really dont have a life anymore either...I'd love to join ur wine night though :)  ( i know i should be going to an ob  :s I wish I could add a few extra hours in for all of this!)

AFM: Its been a day I swear!.... ER days should just be easy and relaxing and this was anything but!!
(OH had a family emergency which took him away and made me late for ER where I was back to possibly using a frozen sample instead of fresh (thank goodness I even have one)...so you can imagine all the extra stress that went along with already being anxious for today)

Took them a while to find my vein as usual.  My RE was being understandable on my tardiness but also mentioned she doesn't want me to ovulate so you should've seen how fast I got changed and ready to go!!
After all was said at done I did walk away with 4 eggs, I didn't cry this time so thats already better then last ER   However it was 1 from the left and 3 from the right.  Meaning the big left one was empty again s and then the 2 smaller ones on the right made it...just praying they are mature enough and fertilize.  I feel like if they dont fertilize thats when they determine they're not mature.  I hear others after ER know right away how many eggs and then how many are mature and so on.  Maybe cause I get so few they can tell right away?  Who knows.  Glad its done!  Just praying they all fertilize and make it through!!

Side note I asked my RE about FET.  And I know I was in a fog but she doesn't to BCP I believe, so since my AF will be hear soon I will go meet with her early next week to get things moving, yay!!!  You should know I "joined" may and june FET boards with no luck a part of me was thinking to wait to chime in on July as you just never know....but gonna be positive and think I am in it!!!

  • @hopeful_mom I hope all four of your eggs fertilize! I bet you are so happy to be done with your last retrieval and on to the next steps.
  • @mmd1986 thanks!  I'm excited thinking about a transfer but TERRIFIED at the same time.  I have to be honest.  My previous MC has scared the hell outta me.  I hate that i keep expecting the worst out of this process.  I"m trying hard not to talk it into myself but its hard too.  You ladies will help keep me sane i hope!

AFM:  I did get the call and 3 of the 4 fertilized, one per icisi and the other 2 regular insemination.  Am I happy sure, bummed about the 4th hell yes!!  You want them all to make it as when you do testing it cuts the odds down tremendously at my age  s  I feel more frazzled maybe as my RE said they were doing icsi on the "good looking mature ones"  so I feel like that means one egg was bad??  I know i have to take the 3 and PRAY they will all make it through!!  My clinic will have a report for me day 2,3 and then 5...so I shall be a basket case everyday!  D  PLease keep that normal good juju coming for me please ladies  o

  • @Holls214 I hope you are taking it easy... I remember feeling quite crappy last summer from all those injections.  I was also in a lot of pain and did some vomiting as well.  I'm now sure it was the endo in my bowels (that no one knew I had) that was being aggravated by the shots.  Did I see someone say you are triggering soon though?  That's good... Hang in there!

@Hopeful_mom Preach GF!  Don't get me started either on how the dregs of society get PG constantly while all hopped up on drugs and booze.  I even get frustrated at work sometimes... We have a lot of poor families who don't take care of the children they have, but they sure do keep popping more out all the time!  Then I just think why them and not me?  I admire your dedication though to a healthy lifestyle... PS tomorrow is the next wine night lol.  Last night I had a wine night with a friend from work... We drank two bottles of champagne haha.  In my defense, I did alternate water with the champagne so that's healthy right?  Lol... I will have to try to behave soon.  I can't believe your stressful day!  It made me laugh when you said how fast you got changed.  I'm glad it's all over with for you and will be thinking good thoughts for you!

AFM I had my annual treat to myself today, my summer mani pedi.  I was cutting it close though with getting to my clinic (it's about a 45 minute drive for me), as my salon appt ran longer than I expected.  But, I made it to the clinic with a few minutes to spare.  I had my baseline blood work (Estradiol and LH) and my baseline US.  I was told my lining looks good... They like to see it below 7mm to start and mine was at about 3.  My RE did my endometrial scratch... That shit hurt.  I was already super uncomfortable because I had to have a full bladder for it and the process was quick, but it was like getting a horrible menstrual cramp.  It lingered for a little while after and then passed.  I am still waiting to get my next instructions though.  Ideally, I should be able to start taking my Estradiol tomorrow.  However when I got home (around 430), one of the nurses messaged me and asked if the RE had given me next steps.  I immediately messaged back and said no... But then heard nothing back after that... I'm sure they closed.  I have been checking the online portal and my blood work and US results have not been posted yet either.  I'm used to having morning appointments though, so maybe me not being seen until 215 this afternoon changes things.  FX I get the green light tomorrow to start the Estradiol!

joneser1281 I'm laughing thinking that a 2:15 appt is late in the day, I wish my day could be over that soon...not that I want to have to get to work at 7am either!  My clinic is the same way but they dont do portal stuff they call everyone! I'd be annoyed not to get my results though...u know what its probably because they didn't get the blood results back in time.  My place u usally have to get it in by 1pm now that i think about it.   Now u got me laughing - healthy lifestyle ha!  I'm glad and sorry i gave you that impression  :D  I dont think my dr would agree with the amount of weight i have gained through this process.  Granted i've enjoyed chocolate and extra treats that I probably shouldnt have but I didn't think enough to put on 25/30lbs no joke  :s So i think the no alcohol was trying to not add to all the extra calories too....but sure i'll take healthy lifestyle!  I keep thinking I just have a slow metabolism and thats the problem!  Hoping you get the call early to move on!

AND I will say i'm not the most religious person and do celebrate the holidays BUT during this process I feel like i'm being teted.  Why them and not me passes through my thoughts more then just once...and I find myself then questioning my faith at times.  I hate that i do, but I do.  I just find it so outrageous!!

  • Hi all!

I know some of you from May IVF :)  I haven't had a chance to be around in the last 2 weeks b/c of work and then 8 (!) of my various in-laws were in town visiting us and staying with us for the last 6 days. But, I am happy to be back because (A) in-laws are gone and (B) we just got news that we have 2 PGS normal embryos! (This was out of 3 blasts). Tentative transfer date is July 28!  Could be a bit earlier, but I am traveling 2 weeks in July so this is the first day that would work. I am on the pill until early July, which sort-of sucks but I will try to enjoy June.

We are meeting w/ RE tomorrow to talk more about the results and (eek) find out the sex of the embryos if we want to. DH and I are still pondering if we want to know. My clinic has recently changed their policy and now you CAN pick which one to transfer (if there is a choice, of course). Makes me feel weird! What is the policy at your clinics, as far as knowing sex and then choosing?

As far as plans leading up to the transfer, I REALLY for reals need to exercise more. Currently its just once a week, on a good week. I also need to read more! Currently my bedtime routine is a few words with friends game and then reading twitter and getting stressed out until I fall asleep. Clearly not good.  As far as actual fun plans, DH and I are going to Glacier National Park in MT for the week of the 4th of July, so that will be fun. Any recommendations for hikes or camping welcome! :)

@Hopeful_mom Hello again and fingers crossed for your 3! That's nice they will give you updates regularly. And OMG, so glad you had a frozen sample!! That sounds very stressful to even need the back-up though!!

@graceash  My results took exactly 2 weeks. They told it it would be 2-3 weeks. I don't know why it takes so long b/c the lab is in house!

@Knottie3527477 I hear you about IVF making you boring. I feel like I never say "yes" to things anymore, because I need to go home for meds, or I don't feel like having to lie about why I'm not drinking, or if things are in the future I don't want to commit because my schedule could change as far as appointments or procedures. I also just feel very serious and not fun :( And now that I have almost a month of no meds or appts, and will drink lightly I think, I feel out of practice for having fun and being social!

  • daisy222-2 hey girl I was wondering how things turned out...its said how some of these threads just go ice cold - glad to have you back.  Congrats on your 2 normies how exciting!!!  Really happy for you!  I'm glad you have some fun coming your way - its important, I dont even know what thats like anymore.  I'm just happy to see OH when I can as our work schedules keep us apart quite often!  As for the genders, Its really hard knowing and getting to choose.  I had the surprise of not knowing with the fresh transfer but then the MC happened and I had to know if I was right in my thoughts.  Now because of the testing I need done for me the surprise is out the window.  I have one gender and am praying I can get the other gender in this next round.  I've always dreamt of both so its hard when you can be so close to it you kno.  You'll let us know if you get a sneak  peak ;)
