1. What healthy habit are you working on? Trying to ramp back up my activity level, which has seriously taken a hit during this (hard) first trimester.
2. How is it going? How can we help? Last week wasn't very successful, I was wondering if anyone might like to be accountability buddies? Either checking in on this thread or using the inbox feature? I know working out will help make me feel better (mentally and physically), but I'm still dragging my feet on it.
3. What is a small win from last week? I didn't drive my kids to/from school every day, and got in a few extra walks, hoping to scale that up this week!
4. GTKY: What is your favorite way to destress? Normally I'd say take a walk and listen to a podcast, but lately it's been reading in bed.
DS1: Nov. 2013 DS2: Jan. 2016 DS3: Dec. 2017 Baby #4 on the way!
1. What healthy habit are you working on? Now that my MS and nausea is letting up I am working on getting my eating habits back under control. I was eating so many processed carbs because that's all I could eat. This morning I had steel cut oats with a banana
2. How is it going? How can we help? It's going good so far. I really just need to spend some time and effort on meal planning now that I am feeling a little better. Anyone have any easy recipes for things to take to work for lunches? I.E. chicken salad
@KatieEl I would love to do an accountability check in. My personal goals for this pregnancy are 8k steps everyday and gym 2-3 times a week.
3. What is a small win from last week? Last Friday DH had off and we took DD to a local splash pad and pool. It was so nice to get outside and play with them both. It's hard to find things to do here in summer when it's 105+ degrees out.
4. GTKY: What is your favorite way to destress? I love to take a relaxing bath.
@burnsmommy27 excellent! Let's check in with each other here. Maybe every few days? My personal goals are: daily walk (minimum 30 minutes) and a dedicated workout (yoga, strength, or cardio) 5x a week. My favorite easy lunches are usually grain salads: grain (farro, quinoa, or rice) + leafy green (kale, spinach, lettuce) + other veg/fruit as seems appealing + fat (avocado, cheese, or nuts) + protein (chicken, beans, or eggs)
DS1: Nov. 2013 DS2: Jan. 2016 DS3: Dec. 2017 Baby #4 on the way!
1. What healthy habit are you working on? I really need to get in more exercise. It's never something I've enjoyed and I haven't made it a huge part of my life.
2. How is it going? How can we help? Lately, I've been doing good at getting walks. I like to go in the evening so DH can stay with the kids but that isn't always possible.
3. What is a small win from last week? I walked almost every day and didn't eat dessert today (one of my goals).
4. GTKY: What is your favorite way to destress? Nap, lol.
I'd also love accountability if anyone else wants to buddy up.
1. What healthy habit are you working on? I'm still struggling with food aversions so I'm not ready to focus on healthy eating yet but I need to get more active. I used to be really good about getting 10k+ steps every day and now I'm averaging about 7k during the week and 2-4k on weekends (yikes!). I'd like to get back to averaging around 10k 5 days/week.
2. How is it going? How can we help? I hit 10k once last week so not great. I go on 3 one mile walks at work every day which gets me around 6k and then the misc movement makes up about another 1k. I need to start adding in a walk in the evening (although it's already getting stupid hot). I think just having a thread like this for accountability should help. Once I can get this routine established for a couple of weeks I want to add in some light strength training.
3. What is a small win from last week? Got 10k steps in a day for the first time since my last race which was the first week of May.
4. GTKY: What is your favorite way to destress? Napping.
1. What healthy habit are you working on? I really need to get my eating in check. Thankfully I only have nausea very occasionally and as long I don't let my stomach get too empty I am usually fine. We have been eating out a lot lately just for the convenience of it. And I have a major sweet tooth, that adds a lot of extra calories to my diet. So, I am going to work on eating out only once a week, if that, and cutting my sweets down to once a day. I work out 3x a week at a bootcamp style class, but would like to add in more walks and maybe a run or yoga. My fitness level has definitely gone down since becoming PG.
2. How is it going? How can we help? Last week was not so good, I ate out a lot for lunch because we did not plan anything. I think this will help just having a check in.
3. What is a small win from last week? I was outside playing with my DS everyday last week. The weather has been so nice in the evenings, it is really hard to stay indoors.
4. GTKY: What is your favorite way to destress? I really like alone time to destress. A nice long shower or bath, by myself, or just sitting in the quite is always really nice.

1. What healthy
habit are you working on? Just like @KatieEl I am trying to make sure I stay
on top of my activity level. It hasn’t been terrible, but I really think that I
feel better nausea wise when I stay on it, so I am hoping I can do that!
2.
How is it going? How can we help? Yesterday was my best day in weeks, so there is
that! Everyone helps so much just by commiserating and being encouraging!
3.
What is a small win from last week? Great run yesterday and no puking! I needed a 30
minute nap at 2 but aside from that was in a pretty good mood!
4.
GTKY: What is your favorite way to destress? This is tough… either
running or vegging out watching TV after DD goes to bed, especially pointless
tv like Bravo.
@KatieEl I like this thread and the idea of accountability buddies though
@burnsmommy27 I definitely need to do a better job (or any job at all?) with work lunches… it
is costing me $ and not helping me to keep randomly picking things up at work.
@gusgus14 What race did you do? I run marathons and halves!
1. What healthy habit are you working on? Still trying to keep up my activity level. It's getting better with 2nd tri in sight, but still not great.
2. How is it going? How can we help? @GraceUponGrace09 I'd be your buddy if you'd like one! What are your goals? Mine are just doing my pilates dance video 3x a week and eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Keeping it simple for now.
3. What is a small win from last week? Ate a fresh veggie with every meal! Really proud of myself-I found healthy ways to cook/steam everything and it all tasted really good.
4. GTKY: What is your favorite way to destress? A long hot bath with a glass of wine which is denied to me during pregnancy, so I guess right now just reading a good book.
@EmilyLove25 it was a local 5k we do every year. I did my first half in September and want to do more but I got so burnt out training for it and still haven't really been able to get back into it and honestly probably won't even try anymore until next year. I was so good last summer about getting up early on Saturday mornings to get my long runs in before it go too hot but I don't see that happening this year.
@schaze Yes! We can check in here as well unless you'd rather PM each other. I'm fine either way. My goals are to exercise for 30 mins at least 4x weekly (walk/jog, treadmill, stationary bike, etc.) and to not eat desserts or candy. They are totally my weakness and I feel so much better when I stay away! I have two kids having bdays in the next two months so I'll make exceptions for their bday cake.
@burnsmommy27@EmilyLove25 (I'm claiming you as an accountability buddy too, until someone comes and steals you ) How are you both doing with your goals this week? Started strong with weights yesterday and cardio today. I don't know if it's the working out or if the placenta is taking over, but I'm starting to feel better, which is a huge plus!
Does anyone have a pregnancy pilates dvd that they would recommend? I love the programs I use, but I haven't found a pilates for pregnancy that I like yet, and I'd like to get that into rotation.
DS1: Nov. 2013 DS2: Jan. 2016 DS3: Dec. 2017 Baby #4 on the way!
@KatieEl Haha you are so sweet! I am going STRONG. First, I am just excited that I've had three okay days where I do not feel like dying (no puke!). I MADE myself run yesterday--decided to run on my lunch break to visit DD at daycare (her daycare is 2 miles from my office). Glad I did it... then I ran today at lunch on a treadmill despite wanting to nap. SO glad I did because I likely can't again until Thursday. Only 4 miles but every little thing helps. And I walked!
Totally with you on slowly starting to feel better. I see a light at the end of the tunnel and movements are just around the corner too! That reminds me--do you remember when you felt them with your second? Everyone says it is earlier... so I'm waiting
@EmilyLove25 every mile definitely counts! I actually felt DS2 later than DS1 because I had an anterior placenta, so I didn't actually feel him until 24 weeks (and even after that it was totally sporadic and light, which totally sucked b/c DS1 (with his posterior placenta) I felt at 15 weeks and he was a regular soccer player in there!). I think that typically though, you do feel seconds+ earlier than first babies, so I'm hoping that we'll start feeling something soon, in the next month or so! ETA: thankfully I knew I had an anterior placenta so I wasn't freaking out about not feeling movement, so much as majorly disappointed!
DS1: Nov. 2013 DS2: Jan. 2016 DS3: Dec. 2017 Baby #4 on the way!
@KatieEl I'm expecting ~15 weeks to feel something. I have to say, DD was not a kicker--more of a push out her butt kind of girl. I'll be curious/excited if this one is a kicker. I regularly felt movement with DD but not kicks, and I am just curious what those are like
@KatieEl@EmilyLove25 hello ladies. Glad to hear you both have been kicking ass this week. BTW @EmilyLove25 I am super jealous that since your slow at work you can exercise. I'm so bored and work and just have to sit here.
This week has started off pretty well. I hit 8500 steps yesterday and did 15 flights of stairs while at work. Today I took a walk and am right on track. If my headache subsides I'm going to hit the gym on my way home frome work.
I find myself getting really dizzy so I'm trying to find a balance between pushing myself and not over doing it. With the dizziness and the headache it freaks me out a bit since I was hospitalized at 34 weeks with DD for pre-e. Maybe I need to get an at home BP kit for some peace of mind.
Eating is going well this week too. Brought cantaloupe and a chicken salad for lunch today.
1. What healthy habit are you working on? I'm trying to be consistent about working out. My goal is at least 3x a week. Right now I still have major food aversions (to basically all food that isn't a refined carb, I haven't actually thrown up but anything remotely healthy makes me feel vomity for about 4 hours afterwards, its not worth it)
2. How is it going? How can we help? Accountability is key!
3. What is a small win from last week? I worked out 2x, not quite the goal but up from the 0 times it has been! We are working out with our trainer so its nice to have someone monitor my form to make sure I'm not doing things totally wrong since the relaxin makes things all loose, I have been worried about my form going all wonky and causing problems with my back etc.
4. GTKY: What is your favorite way to destress? Wine. But since that's not an option for the foreseeable future spending time lounging in bed is my happy place lol. I think my bed is the most comfortable place in the house and the last few months I have been spending a LOT of time in it!
1. What healthy habit are you working on? Like a few of you ladies, working out. I was going to the gym prior to getting KU, 5-6 days a week. Now I'm averaging 1-2 times a week mostly due to m/s. My goal is to ramp back up to 5-6 days, including adding a prenatal yoga class once a week. I have been holding off joining a class until I hit 12 weeks, so I'm going to see about starting that next week.
2. How is it going? How can we help? Well I've gone twice this week (M&W) and plan to go tomorrow and Saturday, so hopefully this is a positive improvement! I could really use an accountability buddy too if anyone is interested!
3. What is a small win from last week? No wins from last week. I only made it to the gym once because I was either dead exhausted or has really bad m/s.
4. GTKY: What is your favorite way to destress? Like @JuliaGoolia719, my favorite way to unwind is wine. But since that is off limits right now, I've been trying to destress with warm (but not too hot) baths, and a good book!
@GraceUponGrace09 that's awesome! Good for you! I've done 2 of my 3 workouts this week and have been eating pretty well. I also decided to cut back on caffeine since coffee tastes gross right now and I've only had a cup of tea this week. I do have a small cup of iced coffee waiting for me in the fridge for this afternoon though
