Re: Weekly Chat - June 11

  • What are you looking forward to this week? My boss will be out of town Tuesday to Thursday, so it should be a low key week.

What are you dreading? Going back to work tomorrow.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Not really, I need to take it easy this week.

Random thoughts? TW - I have an US on Thursday to make sure the miscarriage was complete, but I'm really worried that I might need a D&C to clear it all out.

GTKY: What do you do/buy to pamper yourself? I like to buy cooking magazines or cookbooks and read them with a nice cup of coffee.

  • @ChloandCoco Good Luck on Thursday and I hope it all goes smoothly.

What are you looking forward to this week? Nothing to big going on really. So I guess looking forward to a low key week and hopefully making it to the pool.

What are you dreading? Tomorrow. DS has his 2.5yr check up. I've been anxious about it for a week. They have been concerned about his weight since he turned 2 and dropped off the growth chart. I've been weighing him at home and he's not losing but not gaining. He's also had a cold and bc of the mucous had thrown up his dinner the last 3 nights and overall less eating. The whole thing annoys me because he was early but because he was two days from full term they put him on regular charts. He was early because he wasn't growing inutero either.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?  Finish straightening and organizing our bedroom

Random thoughts?  If I didn't have a history in nursing I don't think I'd be able to handle the amount of puke we see in this house

GTKY: What do you do/buy to pamper yourself? I buy nice bubble bath(although I rarely use it). Dunkin Donuts macchiatos and an activity and lunch with my mom friends sans kids once a month.

  • @kindbytealikat - Good luck tomorrow. Checkups are always stressful and can be frustrating. Keep us posted on how it goes.
  • What are you looking forward to this week? Finishing up my SO's project crotch rocket so we can finally go on a ride together! I have my own and have been dieing to get his finished!

What are you dreading? I have a test for work on Tuesday to certify me for a few things and if I fail I can't come back to work til I do...... Super nervous!!!!!

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I would love to redo my bathroom..... not much but new towels and rugs.... It's getting kinda slummy looking. LOL

Random thoughts? Making friends is 1000% HARDER as an adult :(.... Everyone I've met that seems nice either turns into weirdos, druggees, or are complete bums that do nothing with their life. Right now I'm happy with it just being me and my SO. He is my bestie anyways :)

GTKY: What do you do/buy to pamper yourself? I have recently found Paint and sip classes!!!! Painting a awesome take home picture combined with wine! Yes please!
  • @ChloandCoco many hugs and FX that your appointment goes well! Also we love cookbooks. DH is an avid cook and also enjoys reading cookbooks. It's funny to me since I always considered them reference materials.

@kindbytealikat GL at the appointment! What kinds of activities do you do with your friends? Did you meet them through a mom group?

@brittanym211 yes I feel you about the friends! It's a huge reasons I have very few (but very close) friends!

What are you looking forward to this week?
My day off on Thursday? I'm also looking forward to a good night's sleep tonight since I slept like junk in Santa Barbara.
Oh an an interview on Tuesday for a position 4 miles from my house! It definitely wasn't my first pick for a job role, but considering that I'm not getting hired for anything I DO want I may as well choose a job based on other factors.

    What are you dreading?
    Nothing really.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?
    Finish reading my book!

    Random thoughts?
    Nope.

GTKY: What do you do/buy to pamper yourself?
I just BUY. Lol. I like to buy nice scented soaps and lately toys for the dog.
  • @JennyColada The mom's I meet with once a month i meet around town. I met the first and really hit it off at story time at the library the other two I had seen around and briefly chatted with at kids free activities around town but didn't get to know them well until the mom I was close with insisted we all get together. Now we're an awesome group for play dates with and without the kids. I do have one mom I met up with that I met on our baby month bump board though.

  • @ChloandCoco - I will be thinking of you Thursday.
@kindbytealikat - My oldest son had trouble gaining weight when he was younger. They made us feed him carnation shakes to try and fatten him up. He is fine now - he is still skinny but is a healthy weight. I hope your son feels better soon and that his appointment goes well.
@brittanym211 - FX you pass your test! Amen to the hard to make grown up friends! Most of my friends are work friends :/ They are awesome but I would like to have some friends outside of work.
@JennyColada - Good luck on your interview!

What are you looking forward to this week? Surviving it :/

What are you dreading? I have a mountain of grad school work I have to tackle :(

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I need to get all my grad school work done. I will feel so much better when I do.

Random thoughts? The baby fever is real this week. I went to a baby shower over the weekend which I am sure is not helping. I am ready to TTC already! All the waiting sucks!!

GTKY: What do you do/buy to pamper yourself? I get my nails done every few weeks :)
  • @brittanym211 - Good luck on your test tomorrow! When do you get the test results back?
@JennyColada - Good luck on Tuesday! That would be awesome if you worked so close to home. Keep us posted on how it goes!
@glitzandglitter - I really hope this week goes by quickly for you. Is there something on the weekend that you can do to reward yourself for getting through this week?
  • @ChloandCoco - That is a good idea - I will have to think of something :)
  • @ChloandCoco, I'm glad you're going to have an easier week. Let us know how your US goes. Big hugs!

@kindbytealikat, good luck at your DS check up! My little guy is a little younger than yours and we went through all the weight checks and worry over his weight. He won't eat the super fatty things, so it's been tough. Hopefully the appointment goes well!

@brittanym211, good luck on your test!!

@jennycolada, good luck with your interview! I would LOVE to work that close to home!!

@glitzandglitter, I'm sorry you're having a hard baby fever week! I like the idea of rewarding yourself. Maybe something you wouldn't be able to do if you were pregnant.

What are you looking forward to this week? Hanging out with DS! I cleaned my house well last week so now I can just keep up with it now.

What are you dreading? Nah, not really.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Just keep up with household things. Maybe run a couple of times.

    Random thoughts?

GTKY: What do you do/buy to pamper yourself? Every now and then I take a nice bath with bath salts and Netflix. :)

  • DS appointment well i'll just say it went. I didn't get the try this and try that lecture this time. His weight dropped again though. We are getting blood work and a urine test tomorrow to rule out a number of things. If everything is fine they are wanting to consider putting him on an antihistamine that has a side effect of increasing appetite. I not a fan of that idea because I hate having him on meds because the side effect will be helpful as opposed to being on a medication for its designed purpose. However, he does have horrible allergies so it's designed purpose may be helpful too. I'm just tired of it all. It's stressful and I don't know how to process all of it and am really struggling with it today.

  • @kindbytealikat - I'm sorry the appointment didn't go very well. Once the results come in, maybe you could schedule a longer appointment with the doctor so you don't feel so overwhelmed with the options.
  • @kindbytealikat, I'm so sorry the appointment didn't go well! I'm sorry he has to go through a blood and urine test tomorrow. :( Putting a little one on medicine can be tough. Hopefully you'll get some answers soon!

  • @ChloandCoco Cookbooks are so fun! I have a million of them, and a huge binder full of things torn out of magazines and printed off the internet. I hope your week goes well and that you don't need the D&C. You'll be in my thoughts this week <3

@kindbytealikat I'm sorry to hear that your DS's appointment didn't go as well as you would have liked. Did they give you a reason as to why they put him on the regular growth charts? Would the antihistamine help with the allergies? Is it possible that the weight loss is because of how sick he's been? I hope you guys can figure out another path besides a medication that may not be necessary, and that tomorrow goes well with the testing. On another note, I have a ton of bubble bath, too, but our tub sucks, so I can't use any of it >.<

@brittanym211 Making friends is definitely harder as an adult. If you don't mind my asking, where did you guys move to? Good luck with the test tomorrow!

@JennyColada Good luck with the interview tomorrow! I love the way some soaps smell, but my skin is so insane that I have to be careful with brands.

@glitzandglitter I hope you get your mountain at least down to a mole hill! What all do you have to get done for it? I definitely feel you on the baby fever. My sister's second kid (with an 11 year age gap) is due in about a week, and a couple friends of mine keep sending me pics of their new babies. Not. Helping.

@JNCPro3130 Isn't it nice when you have a clean house? I much prefer it, but my DH is horrible at remembering to clean up.

What are you looking forward to this week? Yet again, hoping to hear from HR. It's only Monday, so we'll see if something pops up.

What are you dreading? Bills. I still have to get my dad a birthday card, too. His birthday is a week from tomorrow.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? The usual. Cleaning and organizing. We want to move the bedroom TV, which means I need to clear off the top of my dresser.

Random thoughts? As I mentioned above, my sister is due in about a week. The baby fever is bad right now. To the point that I bought this adorable Toothless onesie at Target to stash in the closet. We've also determined that once I go back to work, we're going to wait about 3-5 months before we start trying so that I have the time to build my hours back up for FMLA. It'll also give us more time to save for maternity leave. So right now, it's looking like October at the earliest.

GTKY: What do you do/buy to pamper yourself? I used to do bubble baths, but the tub in our apartment isn't long enough for me and is also quite shallow. With our financial situation, it's mostly just relaxing with Netflix and some ice cream.

  • Thank you so much @notthefather. I was finally starting to feel a lot better because the bleeding stopped for 36 hours and now it started up again. So I'm back in the angry/bitter phase right now, and I don't have high hopes for my US tomorrow. The appointment is around lunchtime, so I'll update you ladies once I get back to work.

    @ChloandCoco - GL today. *hugs*
@brittanym211 - I hear you on making friends as an adult. I struggle all the time. A lot of the people I meet and try to become friends with are usually living off the government/state (on purpose), and plan their life so that they can continue to do so for as long as possible. H always picks on me because I don't have any RL friends I like to spend time with, but he has yet to find me any that are worth it.
@kindbytealikat - I'm sorry the appointment didn't go well. *hugs* I got a lecture in the beginning of the school year about DSS's weight. He gained 2 lbs over the summer and grew a few inches, so he dropped however much percent on the growth chart. But, he eats like a horse, and he's healthy and happy. Sometimes growth charts aren't as helpful as we'd like to think they are. Do you know if they considered putting him on oral steroids to help with weight gain?

What are you looking forward to this week? I have the rest of this week off from work.

What are you dreading? School work, yard work, house work. I don't have to go in to my job, but I still have work to do, ugh.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I want to get a game-plan in place for meeting my protein requirements daily. I'm usually a good 20 grams or so short a day, and I need to find something to bring me to my needs, but not overdo it on the carbs.

    Random thoughts?

GTKY: What do you do/buy to pamper yourself? I love taking bubble baths. Aside from that, rolling in to a ball and reading a good romance book is enough for me!

  • @izza2 - I drink Muscle Milk protein shakes. 20g protein, 130 calories, 1 net carb. It's not whey based so it's much easier on your stomach. Strawberry is my favorite but the vanilla isn't bad. I don't care for the chocolate.

Oo! I've had one of their chocolate shakes, and it wasn't that good, so I never tried the other ones. I'll have to see if I can find a vanilla or strawberry to try.

  • @notthefather haha really just that I have no creativity. Kind because I always try to be kind. Byte because I have a computer addiction lol. AliKat is a name I've used in various things for years. Ali is a spin off my actual name and Kat because I love cats and it's a play on alley cat.
