So Friday started out normal. No stress, slept until 10AM and went about my normal routine. I didn't have any patients Friday so I was mostly doing laundry and catching up on emails. At about 3:30 PM I felt an enormous glob come right out of my vagina. TBH I freaked out and ran strait to the bathroom and by the time I got my pants down my bathroom floor looked like someone had been murdered. I was bleeding excessively and had bigger clots than I had ever seen, and as a midwife - that was something that really worried me. I had no cramping at all, no pain except in my right ovary - which I have a known cyst. I was completely in shock and so was DH. He is pretty tough but almost passed out thinking I was going to bleed to death.
He called the doctor while I gave myself a vitamin k injection (I am on heparin 2x daily) to avoid bleeding to death. Of course, everything bad has to happen to us on a Friday when NO doctor is working in Egypt.

It took 8 calls to the doctor and 20 minutes for him to call back - which by then I had lost nearly 400 ml of blood already.
He of course opened the clinic and DH and I had the hardest 20 minute drive of our entire marriage. Well, doctor was very quick with the US and we at least know that the baby was fine. Strong heartbeat. But the doctor did NOT check for the cause of the bleeding and just assumed that it was the other blastocyst we transferred being rejected by my body (though I know enough medically to know these are usually absorbed). He got very defensive when I questioned him and refused to check more calling it 'unnecessary.'
Well, regardless baby is fine and I am grateful for that though I am very suspicious that this was not in fact a rejected blastocyst but in fact a subchronic hematoma as I briefly saw what looked like one before he removed the transducer. I am also aware of the symptoms of a subchronic hematoma as more than one of my past patients have suffered from them. We do have another appointment with another OB tomorrow - who is supposed to have a newer US machine as well. No idea what's going on tbh but we are just relieved baby is fine for the moment. I will be sure to keep everyone updated on the situation.
