  • Yay she finally showed!!!!
  • Got IUI #2 done today now in the dreaded tww. DH had an A+ sample this time 80million and 99.9% mobility!!! I had two mature follies on my left side and a cyst on my right but he didn't see concerned. When I went in I felt cramp like ovulation cramps so I'm hoping the timing was right on!!

  • Hey everyone! I feel like it's been forever since Ive been here, longer than ive been absent from this board for over a year! One road trip turned into another quick one last weekend and then my Bump app went bad after a phone update gone awry...so here I am! Missed you all!

@Labluver2 thinking of you after your IUI! I hope this is the one that works. This wait part is so tough.

@harleyquinn0621 I'm sorry for your loss. I also really admire your spirit and strength in embracing the fact your body is getting back to normal and you are moving forward. I forgot, what will your next step be?

As for me, the days hiking (and eating too much icecream at random road stops, haha) were really good for me to pass the dead time while finishing my BCP. Fast forward and I'm nearly done with my IVF round 2 stims. I added the first Ganirelix to the Menopur and Follistim injections last night and go in this morning for another blood draw and ultrasound. I'm thinking my retrieval might be Wednesday!
  • @Momifbysea  i'm glad you enjoyed your roadtrip! i love just driving through random places- so much fun :)

The original plan was to repeat my HSG and do IUI with injectables this month however due to a lot going on at work we have postponed that to July and will do a natural cycle this month just trying on our own...crossing my fingers we get lucky and don't need to move forward with the IUI

  • Hi ladies!  Just checking in.  Had my third egg retrieval (this year) this past Sunday and we're going to go back to trying naturally now (even though it means no screening - our embryos just appear not to like IVF).  I'm really excited to have my first cycle this year without injecting myself with some sort of drugs.  Will still do the OPKs since my cycle may be a little wonky post-ER.

    Yay for the old-fashioned way!

  • I am 10dpo... All my usual PMS symptoms... Painful boobs (since ovulation)...Sometimes I only get there right before AF, but once in a while right after ovulation. They are SUPER sore... I do see  blue veins but I had that a couple months ago and still had a BFN. Nothing points to any pregnancy symptoms. Breaking out a lot more than I normally do before AF. I'm very moody but again, usually am before AF... Sigh.

Went to fertility doc after all the prescreening tests. Everything is totally normal and great actually. My husband's sperm count etc was great too... So no real reason this shouldnt happen. We only completed month 4 of TTC #2, so I am probably impatient. I have the option of starting my BCP this coming cycle and going through the meds etc for an IVF cycle to retrieve the eggs and freeze the embryos since we want genetic testing on them. THen later on, whichever cycle I choose they will transfer them... I dont know if I want to do it yet.. We have my sister in law and her husband visiting for a month and i dont want to be moody and bloated with them on BCP and then injectables... Ugh.. And part of me says lets wait for two more months. With my earlier pregnancies took 5-6 months each time to conceive.... But I was also 6 years younger. All this sucks.
  • I just got home from my egg retrieval and am pretty devastated. Out of at least 5 follicles on each side, all but one were empty, so they only retrieved one egg. I'm now waiting for tomorrow's fertilization report. I asked my dr if he'd recommend we try again with IVF and he said he would lean against it so I'm feeling old and expired, like he's given up on the possibility for it working for me.
  • @Momifbysea   i'm so sorry :( i don't know much about IVF- but could you get lucky with the 1 egg?

@FirstTimer123  it's not over until AF shows up.... FX this is your month and you don't have to move forward to IVF

today is CD5 for me.... i'm happy AF only lasted 4 days which was my pre-loss normal  so hopefully my body is getting set up and ready to conceive again...i've heard AF can be really out of wack but mine seemed no different ... I have no idea when I ovulate and i honestly don't think i'm using OPKs right but we'll see what happens this month

  • @harleyquinn0621 yes, it only takes one egg so I realize I'm not out yet! It's just hard when I went in knowing I had at least 10 follicles, and re said only 1 in 11 of my eggs is probably good, so it's tough odds.

On the opk's which ones are you using? The digital ones worked great for us, the ones that have blinking smiley and then solid smiley.
  • @Momifbysea  well crossing my fingers that this is your lucky egg!

i have two different kinds, i have a bunch of cheapy wondfo OPKs and then a box of digital ones ...i've read women say they test 3 times a day and the digitals seem expensive for that

@harleyquinn0621 I only tested once a day with first morning urine like directions said as otherwise it would screw up the digital (because as I understand, it obtains your baseline and tests for increases based on your personal baseline level). Anyway, it seemed easy and I'd recommend! My re office recommends that one- clear blue easy.

@Labluver2 yes, I'm trying to focus on the fact that maybe this is the little egg that could, so to speak. I'll let you all know how the fert report phone call goes tomorrow.
  • Sorry about the 1 egg @Momifbysea hopefully it's a lucky one.

Yea for natural cycles @artemis618 that's the path we've chosen. My anxiety it too high for anything else.

we are on 5th cycle TTCAL and are still winging it. I don't like to force things so I'm not tracking cycles and I'm choosing to be happy with our 1 living child at the moment.

thanks @momifbysea - I had some major anxiety over the weekend thinking I was pregnant and actually got physically ill.  Spotting started, stopped for a couple days then started again.  Then AF came.  Meanwhile I'm freaking out scared of another loss and doubts I can even handle being pregnant again.  Now that the wave has passed I still feel in my heart wanting another.  It's a real roller coaster at times.  I'm at peace with just enjoying the summer and not stressing about it the next few months.  My new OB told me not to stress and give it a full 12 months.  By the time my annual appt comes end of august if I'm not pregnant we will revisit it then.  I know the next step is Femara but my anxiety is just not the best when meds are involved.  I've kind of left it up to god at this point.  I don't like forcing things.  I'm a weirdo that thinks it's messing with what truly is meant to happen.  Now if I had fertility problems like not ovulating then that is a different thing, but I don't.

I do worry about a bigger age gap than planned between 2 kids.  DD is in love with babies so I don't think that would be a problem as she would probably help out a lot.  My neighbor though says her and her other 2 siblings were spread out and none of them are close.  I'm sure it varies by family though.  I was never one to want 2 in diapers and it was always my plan to have 1 in Kindergarten and the other a newborn, but as I've found out things don't always go as planned and that's ok.

@Momifbysea I'm so sorry about the outcome...My first IVF I also had only 1 egg retrieved and it failed to develop to an embryo, and I was only 35 (but that was later deemed RE's error in timing of retrieval because I had already ovulated a few hours prior).
As you may already know on the IF board, there a quite a few ladies over 40 who are on their 5th-7th IVFs trying different protocols and REs because they don't want to give up, but this seems a very tough road. I had set myself a limit of 2 IVFs total. I wouldn't have tried beyond that (unless it was a natural IVF with no drugs and no anesthesia).
Take it easy and have some time to think through and talk to your RE (and maybe a 2nd opinion RE) before deciding what to do.
  • @vlagrl29 I'm relating to your weekend experience with anxiety as I've literally been there. Hang in there, you're quite a bit younger than I am so I know your odds are better, hang onto that and I do really feel it will work out for you! I'm such a planner that it's hard to let go of it. I personally teeter back and forth depending on the day between "it's God's plan" (telling myself to chill out and let it happen if it's supposed to) and "God helps those who helps themselves" (telling myself I must take advantage of everything available to me to help this cause, after all I've been blessed to have this awesome insurance, access to care living in this country, etc.). Ugh, bottom line is it can be so hard to navigate this road. I woke up this morning, realizing yesterday's retrieval and dr leaning against trying again was unfortunately not a bad dream. Trying to hold onto hope and praying the call I get today is that the one egg successfully fertilized. As for the age gap, I have coworker's in their 60s, 1 of whom shared they and others they know are closer to their siblings further apart in age than their siblings closer to them in years. I work with another amazing woman who at near 70 is in better shape than me, a brilliant PhD, so well adjusted, and shared she was always happy as an only child. So every situation could be positive, I try and remind myself that.

@liljoy thank you for your words and for sharing your experience in this same spot. I'll take it day by day and see how today's call goes.
  • @Momifbysea how devastating to only get one from that many follicles :( I'm so so sorry. You seem like you are handling it so well! I know it only takes one, but no one wants to walk that "will it or won't it fertilize and grow" tightrope. Even so, I am hoping and praying that it will only take this one for you!! What did your RE suggest for next time since they think you should not do IVF again?

  • I heard from my RE. The egg did not fertilize. He said its due to age...old eggs. He said these calls are so hard and I said "well look at it this way: my brother (who he knows is a neurosurgeon already) has to tell families their person died. I'm still very much alive today and healthy and I might add, stubborn in that if you told me to go home and start injecting tonight for a chance I would do it!" He actually chuckled a bit and said I was very sweet but that days like yesterday are days he just goes home and pets his dog.
  • It cut off my message!
    continued from above:
I told him my biggest disappointment yesterday was him saying he'd lean against another round. I feel so much better as he just told me he's willing to continue if we are.
He thinks weve seen the two extremes - 1 success with 8/8 in April and now the low end. We will not change protocol then.
  • @Momifbysea DH and I are both onlies so I know DD will be fine either way. I hope your 1 egg fertilizes.

i think I may be taking a break from the boards. I'll still lurk but I'm trying to change my mental focus onto the things that do matter in my life. I have a new list of summer goals and its hard for me to focus on them when I feel I'm always in limbo every month.

  • @vlagrl29 I understand, the break was good for me these last few weeks too. I know my posts were long but long story short our egg didn't fertilize but I ended up having a very productive all with our RE and am grateful he's not giving up on trying with us!
  • @Momifbysea I'm so sorry. This whole process has its ups and downs. Don't give up hope miracles can and do happen. Its great that your RE is still ok moving forward if your willing. (((Hugs))))
  • sorry it didn't happen :(  so are you going to do more rounds?  I commend you if so.  I'm sure you have plenty eggs but quality may not be as stellar as 10 years ago in your 30s.  I believe everything happens for a reason no matter what it is.  I've already noticed an improvement on my mood realizing I'm not even going to care if I'm WTO or TWW.  I also feel bad if I do continue upon this path because I fear that I wouldn't be giving my living child all the attention she needs and then am I missing out on her fun years?  It's not fair to either of us.  So for at least the next few months until end of summer I'm just going to wing it and enjoy my life.  I'm not old and don't feel like it either.

  • @momifbysea  i'm sorry :( but i'm glad your doctor is willing to continue! and i really admire you for wanting to try again- it can be so disheartening when it doesn't work but it only takes 1 successful cycle so good luck!

I'm so nervous. I got a bfp yesterday on a frer & on a clear blue digi this morning. Had blood draw & beta came back at 24, and progesterone is on low side.  I'm 13dp trigger. I'm concerned that it still might be the ovidrel with a low number, hope it's not. Scheduled to go back Monday for another draw hoping number is over or close to 100. They called in progesterone to start using. I'll be a nervous wreck all weekend.
