It's finals week. Which means I'm going to be grading a LOT of essays. BUT...it also means that in three days, my summer vacation will officially start!
DS is sick with what I think is hand foot and mouth disease. Poor thing is miserable and this mama is getting no sleep which makes the MS worse.
Any suggestions on what to feed DS? He seems to have sores in his mouth or throat but won't let me look. He just cries and says "mouth" over and over. Applesauce seemed to burn, milk is fine. I'm going to make some PediaLyte pops.
@jakobaby we did mashed bananas, frozen blueberries, frozen peas when DS had hand foot mouth. If you haven't experienced it yourself it is truly miserable and I didn't eat for days after I got it. Give t a couple days and once the pain is gone he will come back with a huge appetite!
@jakobaby Hugs to you and the LO. DD has had hand foot mouth disease three times! The good news is it goes away quickly and there were usually only two days of misery. We did lots of yogurt but really her appetite wasn't great. Hope it passes quickly!
AFM DD has two year molars coming in and she was so so upset last night. Woke up screaming bloody murder at 1:30. I had her calmed down and asleep and left the room by 3. Then she woke up screaming "mama" at 3:30. I went in with a bad attitude, thinking about how exhausted I've been... but then I was in there and remembered how great being a mom is. I sat her up and wiped her tears and sang to her, calmed her down enough to give her Tylenol, and then held her on my chest until she fell asleep. She needed to have a hand on me to calm down
@cricket99 he wouldn't try anything I offered today. Just milk and water. At least the fever is down and he's getting to be more like himself other than the appetite! I think I may have had it in college actually and it was absolutely terrible.

@EmilyLove25 I can't imagine going through this again, but then again I say that about the stomach bug too! Also, I'm very much not looking forward to the two year molars! Poor baby!
@GraceUponGrace09 and @KatieEl My understanding is that with most kids, the second and subsequent times they get infected with HF&M aren't as awful as the first time. DS has had it twice, and the second time wasn't nearly as bad.
Random vent: We're flying home (to WA state) from OH. Our flight gets in at 12:30am and we live 3 hours from the airport. So, we'll probably get home around 4am and it's going to be extra horrible since we're adjusted to EST. Ugh. DH refuses to get a hotel in Seattle for the night.
@jakobaby my DS has it now too. It's absolutely heartbreaking. He had it last year around this time and for him it seems just as bad. I noticed that the apple sauce burned as well. When he asked for some today I told him we didn't have any. I've been giving him yogurt, milk, ice cream, and tonight's big winner was 2 freeze pops. It's horrible.
@CANTW82BMOM poor guy! It is so sad and agonizing. We were in Target getting supplies yesterday and DS asked for an applesauce. I took one out of the box to keep him happy so I could finish shopping and he instantly started screaming. I wasn't thinking. Dairy has been a hero in our house too. My dad got DS to eat cottage cheese of all things last night! Maybe the dairy temporarily coats the sores? He has refused yogurt, ice cream and pudding. I'm like, but it's ice cream?!
@tinman87 that reminds me! Amazon just came out with a new baby welome box for doing a baby registry! You have to have prime to get it, though. I spent my morning yesterday making a phony registry, bought some long sleeve onesies off of it to hit the $10 requirement to get the box, and ordered the box itself this morning!
I went on a flight today for the first time as a pregnant woman! I opted to do the pat down instead of the x-ray scanner or metal detector and surprisingly no one made a big deal about it. I also asked if they could help me get a seat near the restroom and they let me preboard! I was the 3rd person on the plane!
At work I have only told my boss about being pregnant. Just had a coworker walk into my office and say "what up y'all?" I told him I'm not a y'all just one. But he was right on with his salutation.
I told my in-laws!!! They were so happy, but not so surprised. They knew we were trying and there's strong fertility on both sides of both of our families. But we got a few glorious tears out of them and it's great to be able to talk to them about it. It was my MIL, FIL and step-MIL. It's a first grandchild for any of them so they're THRILLED!
