    Happy Memorial Day, ladies.

Is anyone familiar with Bellefit or Squeem? I'm thinking about wearing a postpartum girdle but I'm not sure which one.

  • We got a wedding invitation in the mail from one of DHs good friends. I knew what it was before I opened it. I was not expecting it to be on my due date. Now I'm a mix of emotions like please let this baby come a few days early so I can try to go or DH can at least go without worrying that I'm going to go into labor when he's gone. Or have the baby come late so DH doesn't miss anything. The problem is, the wedding is 3 hrs away and I know I can't predict when the baby will come or not. Or if I'll even be up for going on a 3 hr car ride that soon after the baby comes, if she comes early.
  • @mrsashworth522 I would run that by your doctor, if you haven't had the baby yet, they may advise you not to travel that far.
  • @SouthernMama15 if the baby hasn't come at that point I'm not going. But if the baby comes early, it will depend on if I'm up for it or not.
  • @lewliv is that the same as belly binding? I'm planning on doing that pp. Brought it up on the crunchy thread and someone recommended a brand that I can't remember now lol.

I had been feeling pretty iffy about if we got my mom's tickets here at a good time and today they jumped up 500€ so now I'm much happier about how much we spent.

@mrsashworth522 Dh's very best friend asked him if he could fly home for his wedding.. in August. Uh no. You fricken crazy?? We had planned on surprising him but baby is getting his middle name from this guy so that seemed to make up for it a tad but you could tell he was still super bummed. I hope your DH is still able to go but I hope his friend is understanding if he can't!

  • @lewliv I'm wondering what a good one is. They gave me an abdominal binder at the hospital after my c section but it was basically a giant rectangle of elastic that had to be held in place with strips of Velcro. It took 2 people to get it on and it loosened up really quickly. I'd like to buy something this time, but I'm not sure what's the best one.  I saw a panty style binder at Buy Buy Baby today but it reminded me of Spanx and I know how hard those are to get up and down. I keep meaning to ask my on if she can recommend a good one but I always forget.
  • @Nxy I know they'll be understanding of the situation because they were one of the very first to find out we were expecting. In reality, this ceremony is just a formality for family and close friends as they have been married for over a year now, but they went the courthouse route a couple months before their son was born. But yes, I do hope DH at least can go as this guy went to high school with him and they enlisted together and were in the same unit for 6 years together. We will see come august how things work out I guess!
  • ***If you are a huge animal lover (or vegetarian or vegan), you may want to skip this***

We have an outdoor dog (live on an acreage) and he loves to protect his turf from other animals. He has an underground fence so he can't go outside his boundaries but when things come in, that's another story. In the five years we have had him, he has "gotten" countless raccoons, possums, bunnies, a few birds, a skunk (sprayed by many more), a Canadian Goose (as it was taking flight), and one cat (treed many more). Tonight he added a new animal to the list...a fawn. We are so sad he got this little fawn. The poor thing didn't know any better :(

  • @bumpybump I would be sad about that one, too!

  • So, regarding belly bands or girdles, has anyone used one before (non-C section needs) and thought they were helpful? I'm less concerned about the stomach containment or smoothing element for under-clothes than I am about my pelvic bones narrowing back to normal. I just keep thinking of how much it would cost to replace my entire pants and shorts collection if my hips don't go back to where they were before.
I've read pros and cons about them- like, many offer a lot of support that's actually counter-intuitive for using your actual abs and getting your core back in shape.  I just wonder if anything will help my pelvis shrink or it's all just placebo. (And yes, I plan to BF which I hear helps with the uterus shrinkage.)

  • @bumpybump that is so sad!  I didnt realize that outdoor dogs would do that normally.  It totally makes sense (they are predators by nature), but it just never occurred to me.

  • I'm planning on wearing a postpartum binder or girdle.  Spanx type panties that pull up would be out because even getting my regular spanx on makes me break out in a freaking sweat. I'm liking the way the Bellefit's look overall but that crotch flap kinda concerns me for immediate wear postpartum, maybe they'll be an option once everything is healed a bit better. At first I think I'm going to wear a belly bandit. It just looks like the easiest option.

  • I finally registered for a hospital tour. I was kind of considering the midwifery center our hospital has, but I have no idea how I'll deal with birth so I'd like to have all medication options open.

@Mango517 Good call about the crotch flap on the Bellefit. I guess I'll stick with the Squeem.

My stroller and car seat - that I ordered months ago - arrived! I'm so excited! Now I really should start the nursery  :#
  • @bumpybump ANIMAL LOVER WARNING
My three-legged Lhasa apso managed to snag a baby bunny tonight. I had no idea she had it in her (she's our lazy one). I was somewhat horrified, but mostly because I don't want my dogs to eat dead bunnies.

  • @secicc12 yes, but for me it's the countdown to not having to work!  Only 9.5 weeks for work left for me, and probably only 6 or 7 in office!

@SpotConlon my schnoodle found a bunny nest and thought the babies were squeaky toys. She severely bit  5 bunnies and when DH went outside to get her and realized what was going on, they were all dying on the lawn and DH had to "finish the job". It was a very traumatic experience.
  • Completely random observation from both the HDBD and shit people say to pregnant women threads... I have zero clue how any woman "carries." Low? High? I can't tell. I'm going to take a wild guess that I'm carrying high because for a couple weeks now my ribs have been getting crushed. Sitting at work, sitting on the couch, just discomfort so constant I barely pay attention to it anymore. Sometimes I stand and stretch, but getting into bed to lay down feels amazing. Anyway, a baby bump is a baby bump to me, hah.
