Butt ruffles...adorable on baby girls, ridiculous in baby boys!
I am all for the mixing/matching of clothes, gender neutral thing. My LO already has black and dinosaurs and such ready to go in her closet. I know this might get more 'he is so cute' but there will be bows and pink and such to = it out.
I draw the line at putting boys in butt ruffle pants/floral diaper covers. I might need to share this UO with my neighbor who wondered to me why people assume her 1mo old is a girl...
TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
@smallbutmighty77 she really does that? I love ruffle butts but I could never put them on a boy. We had plenty of cute sets from Carter's that the pants had an animal or baseball on the butt of the pants.
I've never heard of butt ruffles on a boy. I love bows on girls but I do not like huge ones either. Just tiny ones. My whole family has bald babies...until they are 2-3 no hair (same with hubbys side) so baby girls especially need a cute small bow. My daughter is 2.5 and just started getting hair.
I wouldn't intentionally place a baby boy in girls clothes, but that brought up my UO.
I hate when people get super upset about "gender" vs "sex", but then get offended when a child starts actually showing a gender that doesn't match their sex. What's wrong with liking Hello Kitty & Luigi?
I hate when people refer to themselves as kings, queens, etc. I have a vinyl cutting machine and I'm in crafting groups on Facebook and people are always making shirts that say king/queen to wear with their SO or queens are born in August. I don't get it. Same with Bonnie and Clyde stuff. Why do you want to liken yourself to criminals?
I hate the stick figure families that people put on their car, especially when you put the family member's name by it. Hasn't anyone watched Dexter and Criminal Minds, when the kids get abducted because of this?
I probably wont buy my kids any personalized things, like bike license plates, or even shirts/hats ect. My Dad was a cop and was super paranoid about abduction, and always talked about how most parents teach their kids to say no to strangers, but if the stranger knows their name, the kid is far more likely to go with them.

Mommy to a super cute havanesse puppy and baby boy!
@littlebug2010 my SIL is a kindergarten teacher and they don't even teach them to say 'no' anymore b/c people think the kids are just having a tantrum or what. They are taught to say 'i don't know you' or 'you are not my mom or dad' things like that, to yell loudly and use their body as much as they can to fight back and draw attention. If they are lost to not just look for uniforms b/c they are not always around but to look for adults with kids- as opposed to adults alone. There is so much more they are teaching in terms of danger/awareness with kids. Parents are told not to have names on stuff, b/c like you said kids might think someone knows them if they know their name. Just so scary.

@smallbutmighty77 it's all very scary. I grew up in a small town, but we still had issues like this. I can't imagine what I'll be like now that I live in a city.

Mommy to a super cute havanesse puppy and baby boy!
I don't want this LO to wear anything with monkeys (or aliens, or dinos, or even puppies) on it and carters, which always fits my babies the best for the first year, seems to be all about the characters on their boys' clothes. I'm struggling with newborn boy style at the moment - I just want primary colors! ( I'm sure I will be eating my words after his first lovey is a monkey or something and then I buy him all the monkeys.)
Same as @lewliv and @szwill86 said. I did find some stuff at carters for DS that were solids or just stripes. DH said no animals unless they were predators.
I didn't know this bugged people but if DD is around at all I call DH "Dad" because I called him his first name and DD started doing it too. I also tend to yell DH's first and middle name at him if he is rooms away and not responding and DD started doing that too lol.. So we are a "mom" and "dad" couple now. Is this not normal??
@Nxy I think as long as you don't go full Mike Pence and ONLY refer to your space as mom or dad, you're fine. My parents always say mom or dad if they're talking with us kids, but call each other by their real names when they're talking to each other or other adults.
@Nxy I think that's pretty normal! DD has called DH by his name a few times so now she knows "my daddy's name is _______" and "my mommy's name is ______". She also knows my dad (her papa)'s actual first name because she hears others call him by name so often, but thinks my mom (her nana)'s first name is "mom" because she hears me talk to my mom so much. It's so funny.
@Nxy We've never called each other by name. Always baby, babe, or doll. My parents are the same way. Now that we're parents we call each other mama and daddy. DS went through a phase around his 1st birthday of calling me Anna because we had been around my family and he heard them all call me by name. DH thought it was hilarious and encouraged it.
@SpotConlon & @HappyToBeHere, good! I've never heard anyone do it any other way but I've been told twice this week alone that it was weird. What else would you do??? I don't get it
@Nxy my niece is big on the 'titles' and did not like when I called her mom by her name. She wanted me to say sister, and when I talk to her she likes when I use 'niece' in front of her name. No one is sure where it came from, but she does not like using each others names-just 'titles'.

My UO is that I'm sad that my pregnancy is getting closer to the end. I need more time! I like to have the baby inside me.

And even when she had a bow in or wore obviously girly clothes, people still called her a "he". Like really?
