Re: Weekly Chat - May 28

  • What are you looking forward to this week? My mom is visiting us for a few days! She's going to visit my dad for a few weeks while my uncle is in a care facility. He started having seizures a couple of weeks ago and they want him to be admitted so that he can have care that my mom can't provide, so she's taking advantage to go away for a bit. She's getting here on Tuesday night and will be with us until very early Friday morning. Also, my birthday is on Saturday. We're spending the day at Magic Kingdom.

What are you dreading? Can't really think of anything.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I already got one thing I wanted to do completed, but I want to finish cleaning the house. The thing I got done was making a display unit out of Dollar Tree baskets and yarn for my Tsum Tsum collection so it could get the hell off my dresser.

Random thoughts? I literally do not understand why it's so hard for my husband to just help me put the laundry away. I asked him last night to help with it and he actually fell asleep instead.

GTKY: If you had to go back and relive a part of your life which part would it be and why? I wouldn't.

Ioften wonder the same thing it is impossible to get my DH to put his laundry away. It drives me crazy! I hope you have a nice visit with your family.

What are you looking forward to this week?
Only a few days left and then I am officially on summer break! So close!

What are you dreading? It wil just be a really busy week.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I want to get my house back under control. It is a mess! I have been so busy that I have let that slip this week. Now I'm paying for it.

Random thoughts? I am having mixed feelings. I really want the time to pass quickly so I can start TTC but August will also be the start of school and since I'm not even out yet - I am so not ready for that.

GTKY: If you had to go back and relive a part of your life which part would it be and why? College - I loved it!
  • @dreamscapes_ Have fun with your mom!!! Also I may/may not be your husband LOL DH washes the laundry it's my job to hang and fold TBH it will sit forever. It got so back up from finals week it's gotten overwhelming but I seriously need to do something about it.
@glitzandglitter I hear ya on the house thing. I got so behind the last few weeks of school. I got partially caught up last week but we've been focused on the reno painting in the basement this weekend it's gotten back behind. I didn't have a traditional college experience, kind of wish i'd done things differently now.

What are you looking forward to this week? Finishing up the painting in the basement and making final decisions about how to finish up the fireplace.

What are you dreading? Making final decisions about how to finish the fireplace LOL

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I need to get laundry caught up and our bedroom straightened up. But painting needs to be finished first and that will likely take until Wednesday.

Random thoughts? I have actually enjoyed painting the basement, I find it therapeutic. That said I'll be sick of it by the end of the week.

GTKY: If you had to go back and relive a part of your life which part would it be and why? I wouldn't, the current stage of life I'm in is really my favorite so far. I love my kid at this age and how fun he is. I also wouldn't relive anything for the sake of change because if I change anything in the past it would alter my now. There is my philosophy for the day :)

  • I've been gone for a few weeks but I've been trying to lurk. I hope everyone is doing well!!

@kindbytealikat, I've been MIA for a few weeks. Are you renovating? Sounds like a lot of painting and decisions! :)

@glitzandglitter, we finished school Friday. Good luck this week! You're almost there!

@dreamscapes_, I hope you have a nice visit with your mom!

What are you looking forward to this week?
I'm looking forward to my week! I have to finish up a couple things in my classroom tomorrow and then I'm free for the summer!! I get tons of time with DS!

    What are you dreading?
Tomorrow I have to finish moving my classroom from my current school to my new one. I wanted to finish Friday but I just wasn't able to. Now I have to move with my 2 year old. :(

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?
I want to finish my classroom and get control of the mess in my house. I also want to start working out again.

Random thoughts? On a TTC note, my cycle is completely messed up. I typically O on CD 14 or 15. It's CD 23 for me and I still don't have crosshairs on FF. Figures... it's my last TTA cycle and apparently it's going to last FOREVER!

GTKY: If you had to go back and relive a part of your life which part would it be and why? I don't know. I've had ups and downs that I feel like have lead me to here. I'm just enjoying life now. :)

  • @JNCPro3130 Yes we are renovating our basement space. It's was one big room and has a bathroom and laundry room. Previously DSD was staying down there and half the room was "sectioned" off by bookcases. After a serious back up and having to move her upstairs temporally we decided after the flood clean up we needed to seriously look into giving her private space and we needed to make the rest of the room functional, and with us looking to have another baby I desperately wanted a play room. So we hired a guy and he cut down the fireplace and hung drywall to give DSD her room. We have been painting all weekend. And then we need to decide how to finish off the fireplace area.

  • @kindbytealikat, I'm sorry to hear about the flooding but it sounds like a great upgrade to your house! I bet DSD loves her own space! Hopefully everything is going smoothly!

  • Hey, ladies, sorry I've been MIA this week. I've been working a lot and spent the weekend with the in-laws. They can't wait to have grandkids and there was no way I'd be bumping - don't want them to know yet we're planning to try soon!

What are you looking forward to this week? Yay, short work week! and yay, new dishwasher! I've been washing dishes by hand for 2 months now.

What are you dreading? Lots of work, lots and lots of work.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Just try to be focused and get the essentials done.

Random thoughts? like most of you, I just want DH to step up and do some things unprompted around the house - I don't want to have to micromanage everything. Tired of saying "Please do this" and "please do that". If he knows it needs to be done, and I'm really busy, can't he just step up and take care of it?

GTKY: If you had to go back and relive a part of your life which part would it be and why? There's a part of me that wants to relive high school so I could NOT make the stupid mistakes I did, but like @kindbytealikat - I'd be rewriting my own history and I probably wouldn't have my amazing husband now, so I'd pass on that. Maybe relive meeting DH for the first time again just to have those feelings again.

@dreamscapes_ - yay for making your display!
@glitzandglitter - i hear you on the messy house! I'm having trouble keeping up with mine.
@kindbytealikat - hope your DSD likes her new space! it sounds so nice to have a playroom all ready!
@JNCPro3130 - yay for summer! Enjoy the time with DS. :)

@glitzandglitter We had a talk about it the other night and I think he finally understands why it bothers me. I can't wait to see my mom! She should be here in an hour or so, depending on traffic. I hope August gets here quickly!

@kindbytealikat Honestly, my DH doesn't even fold it unless I sit him down and hand him stuff. It literally never crosses his mind. He gets some leeway because he has really bad ADD, but come on. If I wasn't here, he'd be doing it himself anyway. I'd come help you put away if I could! The renovation in your basement sounds like a great spot for your DSD! I actually agree with you on your "philosophy of the day". I don't want to relive anything because everything I've been through has made me who I am today. Even if DH and I had met when we first possibly could have (funny story, we almost met nearly a full decade before we did), I wouldn't want to.

@JNCPro3130 Are you free for the summer yet? Almost there? I don't know what time zone you're in! I started temping on FF this month and my numbers are all over the place because I don't get up or go to bed at the same time every day, so I don't have any idea what to make of my chart, lol.

@catlady2015 I absolutely agree - if he sees that something needs to be done, he should just do it. I also agree on your reasons for not reliving things. I understand why people would want to, but I just... don't.

I had the ultrasound for the lump on my back today. The tech didn't feel anything on my back, and she also said she didn't see anything on the display, but that the doctor would read it and go from there. So still no answer on that. I'm hoping to hear from HR sometime this week, since it was a holiday weekend and I know they were out.

In other news, have any of you guys ever received really random targeted mail? A few months ago, DH and I got a package from Similac with a bunch of samples and coupons in it. I still get coupons from them. We have NO idea where they came from (aside from the obvious, which is Similac), or how I got on their list. Then today, I got a big red catalog with a happy little baby on the front from Target, advertising their baby registries.

I don't know where the hell this is coming from. At any rate, there's a coupon on the catalog for a free $20 gift card if you create a registry, so we're probably gonna make a fake one just to get the gift card.

  • @dreamscapes_ Yes! A few months ago I came home and there were baby formula samples on my front porch. My oldest gave me the side eye and I think he thought I was pregnant. I donated it to a local charity. It was weird though, nothing since then
  • @catlady2015 omg your GTKY answer gave me all the feels. YES to re-living memories and butterflies of meeting DH. But YAY on the new dishwasher! Omg so exciting!

@dreamscapes_ I mean, on one hand I'm happy that she didn't find anything bad, but on the other I'm unhappy that you still have no answers. URG. As for mail, I (unfortunately?) never get random goodies like that. But I am a member on Pinchme.com and you can request free samples from various companies. So that's fun!

@kindbytealkat wow it sounds like you have a lot of stuff going on in the house. It's going to be so nice when it's all done!

@JNCPro3130 come on CH or AF or SOMETHING so that we can get to the baby-making!

@glitzandglitter yay summer break. Any fun plans?

Sorry that I've been MIA this weekend. I usually Bump from work and so holiday weekends = no work = less Bumping.

What are you looking forward to this week? Starting a new book since I (finally) finished the one that I was reading.

What are you dreading? Nothing really, I suppose I'm just dreading having another week pass by that HR/recruiting hasn't given me an answer on the job that I interviewed for THREE WEEKS AGO.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Nothing really. I don't get a "regular" day off this week since we were closed yesterday due to the holiday. So that's kind of a bummer and gets in the way of me accomplishing much.

    Random thoughts?

GTKY: If you had to go back and relive a part of your life which part would it be and why? I'm going to steal the answers of going back to when I first met DH and re-living all the butterflies and sappy moments.

  • @catlady2015, yay for a new dishwasher! I hate washing dishes by hand. Bless you for doing it for months!

@dreamscapes_, I'm done for the summer! I'm so excited! Technically our last day was Friday but DS got sick and I had to miss the last day of school which meant I got a bit behind and had to finish up this morning. As for my chart... I haven't the foggiest idea what to make of it. I have my alarm set for 4:00am every day regardless of work or weekend (I used to workout at this time so it's my every day alarm for temping). It's been consistent since February. I've been stressed and had a week of crazy sleep. Maybe it messed me up? IDK

  • Hi all!  Long time no see - been busy and kind of bummed because we decided to push back TTC until December (boo) and so I haven't been around for a while, but I thought I'd pop back by today since it's slow at work.  How are you all???

What are you looking forward to this week?
Well, our show premiered last night and did SO well, so I was nervous about that and am feeling relieved now.  The whole post production crew went out for a big lunch to celebrate.

    What are you dreading?
DD is just not sleeping through the night lately - she's gotten five teeth in a row and the last one is a doozy.  We haven't had a full night of sleep in over a month, so I'm just dreading that nightly.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?
I'm kind of in reset mode, the show premiered, I finished my last writing goal, so I'm trying to get back on the fitness wagon and start a new writing project, but fighting a little bit of inertia that I always have at the beginning of new goals.  Trying to get excited!

    Random thoughts?
I'm sad we're pushing back TTC until the first week of December, even though it was my idea (due to finances) and it's really not that far away - only 6 months!  I mean, it's definitely a good thing - I'll have a chance to finish another script, my novel, and adapt the screenplay into a novel, plus definitely have time to lose the last 10 pound of baby weight, plus however much else I can lose, so I am excited about those things - but it's hard to wait!

GTKY: If you had to go back and relive a part of your life which part would it be and why?
My late 20's.  I didn't have enough alone/single time in my life and I really would have savored living alone and traveling by myself if I had known it would be so quick!
  • @maureenmce - I've missed having you around! Glad you decided to pop in. Congrats on the premiere going so well. I'm sorry you had to push back to December. Waiting sucks even when it's for the best :/
  • @maureenmce - congrats on the show! Glad to hear it went well.

Its s so hard to wait! Hope focusing on your goals helps make it easier and time flies by!

  • @maureenmce, sounds like things are going well for you! It's a bummer you have to push back TTC but hopefully it'll be worth it in the end! Yikes with your DD teething! DS has had a rough go when teething so I feel your pain! Hopefully everyone will get some rest soon.
