Girl Middle Names with Y in them

I need some help. We finally settled on a girl name but we need help with a middle name.

DD's middle name is Rayne (rain)  and we would like something similar for #2.

What are your favorites?

  • Thank you ladies! I cannot believe how many you are all coming up with.

The first name will be Lainey.

My DH actually mentioned Skye. I really like Brynn.

Thank you again! So much to think about. I do not remember this much trouble naming DD.

With Lainey I'd stick with names that have y in the middle, not at the end. Some of these are repeats from PP--

    Lainey Faye
    Lainey Brynn
    Lainey May
    Lainey Joy
    Lainey Gwyneth
    Lainey Blythe
    Lainey Taryn
    Lainey Jocelyn
    Lainey Amaryllis
    Lainey Yvette
    Lainey Yvonne
    Lainey Arya
    Lainey Amaya

  • Lainey Yves (pron "Eve")
  • +1 for Lainey Joy.
  • So far we have Lainey Skye and Lainey Rhyse in the running. I really like Lainey Joy too but DH isn't going for it.

The only thing about Lainey Rhyse is I'm not sure if it would be too matchy with DD. Her first name starts with L (two syllables) and her middle name is Rayne. It wasn't intentional to do two L's it just kind of happened that way.

My mom and dad did the same initials with my sister and I and not sure I want to follow suit.
  • I vote Lainey Skye, for the following reasons.

    1. Rhyse? Like is that supposed to be Rhys with an extraneous e? No. Ovary up and spell it right if you want to use a masculine name for a girl, that's just confusing.

    2. I always vote for giving your kids some individuality, so I wouldn't repeat R middle names (can you imagine the fights if they like monograms? I have an older sister, I can)

    3. No seriously though,  rhyse is confusing and the same initial, number of letters with a Y in the middle is borderline Duggar Cult.
  • I would pronounce "rhyse" as "rice" so that's a little different...plus rhys is top of my list for boy so I hate to see it butchered like that.

  • I should have stated earlier DH is the one who wants a Y in the middle name. I'm not sure his reasoning other than he said he liked it with DD.

I'm completely open to any other middle names that you think flow with Lainey.
  • Of the two, I'd definitely go with Lainey Skye. Rhyse is just Rhys butchered with an extra vowel (plus, spelled the way, I think it would be pron. RICE). I still like Lainey Yves.
