ElizabethSchuyler lad you are okay and have a plan in place.  That is very scary - and I hope the rest of your time is uneventful.

@ElizabethSchuyler so scary!! Glad everything is low risk for the super scary stuff. Hope your blood pressure stays under control as long as possible.
  • Woah @ElizabethSchuyler that's super scary! FX the meds can control your BP and you have an uneventful next 5-6 months!
  • car1acar1a member
@ElizabethSchuyler How scary! Hopefully they learn something more from the tests today. Are you taking baby asprin or are they prescribing you a different medicine for blood pressure?

  • I have thought I had a cold or allergies for a couple of weeks. Over the weekend, I felt like it got worse really quickly, so I went to the doctors today and I was diagnosed with "suspected pneumonia", they can't "officially" confirm pneumonia without a chest x-ray, which I wouldn't want during pregnancy, but the doctor said that in his opinion it's definitely pneumonia. :persevere: robitussin, a z-pack, fluids, and rest are now my world for a couple days. :pensive:
@cmessamore. I hope you feel better soon! Lots of rest! I had pneumonia twice in a 6 week span last year and it is horrible. I'm fearing this cold I have will turn into pneumonia because last night I was coughing so bad I threw up.
  • @SweetMelissa4 Glad you were there to help! People nowadays are ridiculous!
So many people sick and hurt, I hope everybody gets to feeling better!
  • @amber0529 the coughing till vomiting thing has been happening to me. It's awful! And sometimes the vomiting comes out of no where with it! I hope you feel better soon!
  • @BayCamp I' right there with you. My first pregnancy (13 years ago) I never worked out. I never needed to as I was extremely active and in good shape/health. My last pregnancy (2 years ago) I was doing crossfit up until I was 7 months pregnant. I only stopped because I couldn't lift the weights correctly due to my belly and I was off balance. Up until I got pregnant this time, I was working out hard doing HIIT type programs 5 plus days a week. Now, forget it. I have a hard time walking up my stairs without being winded and my legs shaking. It's actually very frustrating as I am a very active person. I'm hoping the second trimester is better.

My bump mobile app wont let me log onto the community feature (though I'm logged onto the app itself), meaning that I can read/lurk but not post. I've even removed/re-installed the app and it's still not working. Anyone else had this happen before?
I wouldn't care much, but am leaving tomorrow for a conference, so if I can't get mobile bump working I'll be out of commission for a week (looooong conference).

  • @car1a I was on baby aspirin but we're switching to deal with the high bp better.

  • @car1a I had that happen, but I was able to log out of everything and log back in and it worked. Sounds like you've already done that, so I'm not sure, but I hope it gets fixed for you!
  • car1acar1a member
@ElizabethSchuyler I hope the new meds work, and with few side effects! I just asked because I'm on baby asprin for a blood clotting issue, and my bp last week was very low for me, which I'm guessing is from the asprin. It was the middle of finals week and the Dr was like "you must be really good at managing stress!" and I'm like "nope".

@cmessamore Thanks - honestly I didn't try to log out of the site on my computer at the same time, so I'll try that now just in case. It's just odd because I could log onto the app itself just fine using the same username/password, but when I go to Community it rejects the login info.

  • @car1a It's recommended to reduce the risk of preeclampsia after the first trimester. I had JUST started it when all of this happened.

  • @ElizabethSchuyler glad everything is okay!

Guys, I am freaking out. I just went to a big retirement party for someone at work and bit into the slider and it was soooo rare. I couldn't spit it out because I was sitting next to the Dean, I didn't eat anymore of it but I am so worried. It's okay, right?

@jess0211 you should be fine! I remember someone saying they accidentally ate raw chicken. Just pay attention to how you feel tomorrow, but don't psych yourself out
  • @jess0211 You are totally fine. I wouldn't worry about it unless you end up with food poisoning type symptoms tomorrow, which you most likely will not.

  • @BayCamp @jess0211 that was meeee I ate the raw chicken  But I was fine! I personally find that to be much more worrisome than raw beef because people don't really eat raw chicken haha. I'm sure you'll be ok, but you and I are the same with most food stuff I think, so I get your worrying. I had a burger that was more medium than well over the weekend and I was ok, just grossed out (I hate pink meat).

  • @BayCamp @DuchessOfCambridge @kissthesky32 thanks ladies! That makes me feel so much better!

  • My boss just informed me she is bringing her old PnP from her granddaughter to work for me to take home tomorrow. It wasn't a question,  it was a going to. Sigh. It's thoughtful but I have one picked out with the bassinet we will be using for baby to sleep in the first few months. We don't live near family so we can't give it to them to use.  It's so thoughtful but I really don't want it. I am trying to declutter my house, not get more clutter.

  • I should probably just start a deals and savings thread, but it can go here for now. For any ladies who use or plan to try pampers, they are 50% off right now on Walmart.com

I know babies can need different kinds, so I am not stocking up. But I bought one box of size one because it was $19.26 for 216. Figured for only .09 a diaper, we would give them a try!

We're fairly set on the name Elijah Charles. I know my in-laws aren't crazy about it, but whatevs. Charles is a family name on my mom's side, and for DH his Granny that he loved more than life itself, and who passed 3 years ago, was named Charlene so we wanted to honor her in some way. Today MIL says "what about Elijah Charlie? So it sounds more like Charlene?" No. No no no. Listen to yourself woman, that sounds terrible together.

@BayCamp my family literally laughs or cringes when I say the babies name. They're nice about it and say they will get used to it but it hurts. To be fair it is all of their last names

@cmessamore I know this isn't a human, but the local rescue group we rescued our Sheltie from just saved a dog from euthanasia at the pound. Turns out she had pneumonia and was pregnant. They did a lot of natural remedies (steam, good food, rest) but eventually she needed antibiotics. She just delivered 7 healthy puppies the other day. I know it's not the same, but it's a cute story haha

  • Sorry to hear all the bad that's happened to people and hoping everyone starts feeling better soon. Also hi to everyone! Y'all are making me feel bad (jk) I never work out! I did alot of heavy lifting and was pretty active cause of different jobs before baby but now the people I normally work with won't let me lift anything! Then about 30min ago my brother let's my dog out so I ran after him, my body feels fine but I can't seem to stop coughing.

I suppose this could go under weekly appointments but oh well...

Last week we had a scan and the baby kept moving the whole time. Dr. gets to between the legs and says something in Korean and our translator said that boys are more active. We're team green and told her so, so originally I thought that the Dr. had said the sex of  the baby and she said that to say something without really telling us (but still telling us).

Fast forward to yesterday: I'm at work telling the secretaries about my u/s and what they said. I don't speak Korean so I asked one of the Korean ladies how a dr would say it's a boy or girl. Turn out it's illegal in Korea to say the sex of the baby so they say things like "oh it's very pretty" "it's handsome" or in my case, "boys are active" (when baby would not sit still). So I guess it's a boy but no definite answer.

And my ILs just did my shower invitations 2 weeks ago and on it it says "it's a surprise". Not sure if we're going to keep it a secret or not. I have one more apt before we leave and will probably decide after.

  • @slaven I still think it's too early to 100% tell. If anything, it was an educated guess. I would hold off until your anatomy scan (when you know for almost sure) or even keep the Team Green. When we were Team Green, I was pretty sure I was having a boy based on OWTs and what my unskilled eyes saw on the ultrasounds, but it was still fun to have DH tell me the sex as soon as the baby came our.
