Waiting on AF after a D&C

There used be a thread like this way back but it was focusing on MC no D&C. D&C April 28th. I am 23 days out from the procedure. I have read that it takes normally between 4-6 weeks for AF to come. And, the first cycle can be anovulatory. If you have any experience in the area please feel free to comment.

After my first d & c, AF arrived 6 weeks later and I had anovulatory cycle. After this last d & c, AF started less than 3 weeks after. I did ovulate but I also took femara this time around as we did IUI

I've had 2 surgical removals of pregnancy (one D&C and one D&E). After the first, AF came after about 50-ish days. The second, it took 30. When I went for my 4 week post op check after my 2nd the OB did a scan and thought I was about to ovulate based on size of what she thought was a folli. Turned out it was likely cyst just after ovulation because my period started 3 days later.
After my first I had really heavy bleeding a week after procedure and i think that is when all the pregnancy material was shed and started that as a new count so that cycle was actually about 40 days.

@ladipale I had a heavy 4-5 day bleed a week after the procedure so I think that I'll count that as cycle day 1 and see what happens from there. That makes sense because my opks are still a little positive for HCG. I tested negative 2 weeks ago for HCG on the OBs pg test but it isn't that sensitive.

@justsuzie - yeah, i think sometimes bodies hold onto the pregnancy (hello! me!) and then once hormones catch up it resets....

I think af came back about 6 weeks after my D&C at about 9 weeks. It was really really heavy. To the point where I almost went to the hospital because it was so unusual for me. I also experienced a few gushes of blood and clots about 2 weeks after my D&C but I do not count that as a period. My body was just getting rid of old crap I think. It did totally catch me off guard and I was glad that I was at home when it happened and they were huge gushes of blood.

I had a heavier bleed after the procedure for about 3 days, then spotting. I was told to wait 5 weeks from D&C before doing the deed. I didn't get a period after the 5 weeks and became pregnant (so I must have ovulated without the period), however it ended as a CP. My doctor said that there's no real evidence that if you become pregnant after a D&C that you'll be more likely to miscarry, but here I am. Next month was a repeat. This will be my first month with a normal period - still waiting for AF @day 31!

I think it depends on how far along you were and how far your HCG needs to drop.

My first loss at 9w2d (D&C same day) started at only 10,000 or so beta. I ovulated on CD25, just two days after hitting a zero beta. AF came on CD36.

My second D&C isn't going to be helpful as I retained for 9wks, had ovulated and had an AF before the D&C, was on the Xulane patch and had AF maybe only a week and a half later.

So pretty much ALL OVER THE PLACE for everyone. I'm worried because after my ectopic my HCG dropped so damn slowly. It took 4 months to get AF. I guess I will just hurry up and wait.

My first MC was a D&C. I was about 8 weeks along (although baby had stopped growing around 5.5 weeks). My next AF came right on schedule for when it should have if D&C was CD1. It seemed like a normal AF. However, warning, the first cycle after D&C I experienced some VERY sharp ovulation cramps! I'd never had these before in my life so it was quite a shock.

Also, I was SOOO exhausted after the D&C for days. I didn't have much bleeding or pain, but was unbelievably tired.

@dpjennifer I have been ultra crampy the past day and I think O is on it's way because I finally turned a negative OPK. Last loss I O'd a few days after the negative OPK from the HCG. I bet that I am gearing up for some painful O cramps. ANd of course now I catalogue and rate every body pain, jk....but not really jk.

I hear you! And I swear, every time I have a MC (even CPs), my body then 'resets' to new symptoms and changes throughout my cycle. It's a PIA to keep track of what my body is doing sometimes!

@justsuzie You're lucky if you did O. I'm a little over 5 weeks since my D&C and I still got a squinter (HPT) a couple of days ago. The tests are progressively getting more faint as the weeks go on, but damn. Hoping AF is soon. My OB said it could take up to 12 weeks before it returns. I'll still be calling the office if there is no sign by 6 weeks. I don't know if it makes any difference, but this is my first pregnancy/first loss; judging by some PP's maybe the first time takes a little longer?

It was 5 weeks 2 days before I got AF back after my mc. I was supposed to call the OB at 6 weeks.

@silvergreen She said 12 weeks?! That seems like a really really long time. Let's hope this is your last week of squinters. Let's hurrry up and wait together!
