Re: TTTC Checkin 05/23/2017

  • CD1 I think, spotting (yay!) Thursday I'll be able to review the first round of testing results (blood work and ultrasound).

QOTW: Which would you pick: A boring, soul destroying job with excellent pay, strong stability and career advancement,  or fairly fulfilling job, decent pay, less stability, and no forseeable advancement? I probably would pick the stable, higher paying job, until I had enough cash sacked away until I could do what I want, then switch to the less stable/fulfilling job :)

Hello! I'm 5 dpo right now after my trigger shot. I have no symptoms, which is good I guess. Can't symptom spot if there aren't any!

QOTW: Which would you pick: A boring, soul destroying job with excellent pay, strong stability and career advancement,  or fairly fulfilling job, decent pay, less stability, and no forseeable advancement?   (Asking for a friend)
I would probably take the fulfilling job. Even though the other one had nice pay with the chance for career advancement, if I was unhappy there then there would be a good chance I'd end up looking for another job anyway.

  • Hi all! 7DPIUI #5. I had my progesterone test this morning, which I'm assuming will be fine. Pretty relaxing TWW for me since I'm mostly convinced our timing was off. Seeing my RE next week to discuss next steps.

QOTW: I'd probably take the high paying, stable job because those are two career priorities for me. I suppose it would depend on HOW soul destroying it was, though. For instance, I wouldn't take a job with a company whose principles I abhorred--such as one intent on destroying the environment for profit.
  • Kate437Kate437 member
@Mythril FX this is your cycle. @msstephanielynn hopefully the testing shows sosmething easy to treat.

AFM, 19 dptrigger still no AF and I'm not on progesterone. Did another HPT yesterday morning so I know I'm not preg. Waiting to hear back from my doc.

  • CD5 for me.  I am on my last possible Letrozole cycle.  If this IUI fails, I still have 3 cycles of clomid I can do.  I told DH he better pray this cycle works and I don't have to go back on clomid...otherwise, he may need to take cover when I'm back on it.

Energy levels are practically non-existent right now.  Letrozole has always made me sleepy in past cycles but it feels more so this round.  I went to bed at 8:30 last night (after falling asleep on the couch around 8), slept until 6 (with a few wake ups during the night) and am still tired.  I've had a minor headache for the past two days as well.  Not sure if it's my neck causing problems or the Letrozole. I've been trying to resist buying myself a soda but feel my determination crumbling.

QOTW:  Stability is nice and I can see the appeal as DH's job hasn't been stable in years.  However, I think I would still go with the fulfilling job.  Stability and better pay are little help when you can't stand your job.

I also think it would depend on how much you want the advancement.  If an advanced position is something that would be fulfilling, then it may be worth it to take the soul sucking job for a while to reach that goal.  If not, your just setting yourself up for hating your job for a very long time.  Plus, you never know what could happen.  In assisted living facilities (where I work) there is no real chance of advancement for caregivers....but then I went on to complete my Masters Degree in health administration and got promoted to Administrator.

I'm CD 14 and O is no where in sight.  Moving onto IVF and feeling pretty nervous about it.  Makes me second guess if we should have tried IUI first.

    @hoffmanr7  FX for you!!

I think I would pick the more stable, higher paying job.  My thought is I can just have my mind set to it just being a job that would get me a good pay check.  Then, I would use my free time to do what I wanted.  I may also sell my soul for a couple of years to save as much money as I can so I can leave it if I wanted to later on.

  • I'm waiting for an IVF orientation, and then for my next cycle (the IVF cycle) to start, though I think they'll put me on birth control for a bit once my cycle does start. I'm trying to use this time to catch up on lots of other things and to take really good care of myself.

QOTW: Which would you pick: A boring, soul destroying job with excellent pay, strong stability and career advancement, or fairly fulfilling job, decent pay, less stability, and no forseeable advancement? (Asking for a friend)

Ooh, tough one. There are so many contributing factors to this!

My H has opted for the fulfilling job, but our city is really expensive, and he's getting to a point where he'd rather take the cold, hard cash and opportunity for advancement than the fulfillment.

About 10 years ago, I went from my fulfilling job to a soul-destroying one with better pay, and it's getting old for me, as much as I appreciate what we've been able to do with the money. As soon as we hit the level of financial stability I'm aiming for, I'm going to take more career risks, so that I can do more personally fulfilling work/have a better work/life balance.
  • Hey ladies! Not much new here, CD 17 still WTO. I just got a positive OPK though, so that is exciting!

QOTW: Tough one, but I'll have to go with the lower paying job. Considering I am a special education teacher, this is pretty much my life. It's a fulfilling job, okay pay,  not much room for advancement AT ALL unless you want to go into administration (bleh). Sometimes I think about leaving my job for something that pays better and every once in a while I look and see what's out there, but TBH I don't think I ever will. And as much as I can complain about it sometimes, I really do love my job!
  • Sitting here at about 15 DPO, just waiting for AF. I had a BFN at 11 DPO so now it's just a waiting game. Hopefully af comes as scheduled sinc emy surgery is already scheduled and depends on where I'm at in my cycle.

What if your job is soul crushing and pays crap?! Lol. That's about where I'm at. I honestly can work a boring job as long as the environment isn't abusive or anything. But I do need to look for a job with better pay. I am severely underpaid for my education level and experience.

  • ..hi ladies

    ~~Tw~~

so I decided to test Monday after testing for pretty much a week straight and all negatives except Monday I got the faintest little line. Like you had to turn it the right way and shine a light at the right angle...(wow so I sound desperate lol) anyway on Tuesday I decided to test again and that test didn't work. (My luck right) so I went to my doctor to get a blood test done and then later in the day I pulled it out the trash and there were two clear lines but that test wasn't reliable so I used a frer digital and it said yes+. So waited for the doctor to call with my results and the nurse said my beta was 14. She was so negative! She said that it's probably a chemical and to take another blood test on Thursday. I was trying to explain to her I ovulated on day 19! And I had just started getting positives the morning of my blood work but alas she said not to get my hopes up...like ok I get it but right now I'm going to be positive because if not I'll just be a crying mess.

QOTW: I'll take a job that makes me happy. Life is to short to always be stressed and I'm a savvy shopper so I'll get buy if the job takes a dip. But I don't know if I could do it too long term. It's kinda hard. I guess it depends.
  • @SunflowerMama428 A BFP! Yay! FX your numbers keep going up! Did you take a home test today, too?
  • @Bababatty thank you! and ......no DH won't let me buy any more. He says I'm driving myself nuts. lol I think I've legit bought at least 100 bucks in pregnancy tests so far because I started poas according to the first day of my last period.

@SunflowerMama428 Yay!!! FX for you!! You ovulated late and could have been late to implant, so stay positive!

QOTW: I like the idea of stability at this time in my life. My job now is so different from what I did for the last 15 years, but we moved and a nice change. Wish the pay was better, but luckily when the day comes we have a baby, I know my hours / days can be flexible when I go back to work or can be part time / fill-in in the office.

  • Well I am on CD 6 and have started a higher dose of clomid. Still no side effects. I have an ultrasound next Friday and then they should give us the go ahead. In other news my MIL is visiting! She actually has a house here but wants to stay with us for a few days while she cleans it up. Hopefully a few days means a few days because It is just weird having timed intercourse with your MIL down the hall!

If this round doesn't work my DH HAS to get tested. He has been putting it off but it is time, I know he is nervous. He doesn't know where to get it done. My OBGYN wrote the prescription and said any lab in the hospital, but the only labs I have been in are the blood labs.

so my beta more than doubled but it was still low to them? It was 14 then 48, I told them I didn't ovulate til cd19/20 so they are making me do another blood test tomorrow......ugh my nerves are shot. I'm so scared. With my past losses I never made it past the second beta and DS's betas were high and never cause for concern. I'll be doing a lot of praying...

@SunflowerMama428 congrats on your BFP! Fingers crossed for your next test!
So sorry to hear about your dad @eranvo27 :(

I'm currently on CD67 and finished my Provera 4 days ago. So I am very impatiently waiting for AF now so I can start the Letrozole on CD3. I had some (maybe) minor period pain last night, so I'm hoping that's a good sign that it will happen soon.
As unromantic as timed intercourse is, I can't wait for it to be time haha

QOTW: Which would you pick: A boring, soul destroying job with excellent pay, strong stability and career advancement,  or fairly fulfilling job, decent pay, less stability, and no forseeable advancement?   (Asking for a friend)
The most important thing for me is to be happy. I have been in a couple of jobs that destroyed me emotionally and that doesn't just impact the hours you're at work, it impacts on your personal life too. I'm now in a job where I am happy and fulfilled and it pays enough for me to be comfortable. Win win :)
