Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? I had an appointment on Friday, but apparently I did it wrong because through this ob/gyn the first appointment is always a "confirmation appointment" regardless to how far along you are, so all that happened was bloodwork.  That was super frustrating because everything that I read was essentially, "doctor won't see you until 8 weeks," but the good news is that when I called yesterday to get my lab results the nurse I spoke to said that I am "definitely very pregnant" with HCG over 150,000 and I've got an appointment scheduled for an US and a real visit with my ob next Wednesday morning, and we will FINALLY get to see the little bean!

Cravings? Definitely cheese sticks- like the crappy processed string cheese kind... I have no clue why because I never eat them, but I'm going with it.

Rants/Raves? I told my immediate family and DW's parents on mothers day and it was so exciting!  We are still waiting to tell non-family/extended family but it was so nice to be able to tell my mom that she's going to be a grandma (her first one, so firsts for all of us).  We've also decided to get small amounts of baby clothes and other necessities on every pay check from now on so that we don't have a giant money commitment all at once on that end of things later on.

Questions? I literally have nothing, I'm just trucking along. :)

GTKY: What tradition are you most looking forward to with your new baby/babies? My whole family (mom, sister, brothers, and myself) volunteer at a Girl Scout camp that we ALL grew up at.  I'm actually on the "Core Staff/Board" for the camp, and I can not wait to bring my little one with me to spend all summer outside.  We don't let any kiddos younger than 3 come to camp but when the bean is 3 it will definitely be there!
  • @ktcakes87 I'm also looking forward to the Christmas traditions!  I love the family PJ one.

@peachy13 I have my NT scan next week too... GL with yours!

@breezybee congrats on the twins!  Such a blessing!  The weight gain does probably sound intimidating but I'm sure you'll lose it pretty fast afterwards with having twins!

@squeen1991 GL with your US this week!!

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go?
    - last Tuesday, saw our LO moving around  and HB of 171.  So happy/relieved/excited!

    Cravings?
    - nothing crazy,  berries and citrus fruit.

    Rants/Raves?
    - Purchased a PG journal last week called Bump to Birthday-- I love it so far!

    Questions?
    - Anyone on any supplements other than prenatal?  My SIL is also pregnant (26w) and said that she started taking Magnesium and Calcium bc prenatal didn't supply enough.  However I read that too much Mg (above 350mg) is not good.  Thoughts?

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? Nope I have to wait 3 more weeks

Cravings? Nothing in particular I just have a hard time figuring out what sounds good when I'm hungry. Went grocery shopping yesterday and I bought a bunch of fruit and 6 boxes of cereal. That was it!

Rants/Raves? I'm obsessed with the maternity shorts I bought, so I got another pair in a different style, and jeans. I will never wear regular shorts/pants again

    Questions?

GTKY: What tradition are you most looking forward to with your new baby/babies? Christmas as well. I love Christmas and I can't wait to have a kid to spoil now!!

    How far along are you?
    8 weeks, 3 days

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go?
I have one in six days. I called yesterday to find out if I'm having another ultrasound, but haven't heard back yet. If I do have one, I'm bringing my mom along which will be really special for both of us.

    Cravings?
Well, even before pregnancy I craved sweets, so that hasn't changed. Haven't really craved anything out of the ordinary though.

    Rants/Raves?
Rave: I told my parents both that I was pregnant and having twins on Sunday and that was just amazing. My mom was completely beside herself. These will be their first grandchildren so they're super excited.

Rant/Rave: I freaked out yesterday when my black lab who thinks she's a lap dog jumped really hard on my stomach/uterus. I got really worried and started crying and immediately googled "dog jumped on uterus while pregnant" (there are actually a lot of people who've previously experienced this). The rave part is that my husband was really sweet and comforting and helped reassure me that everything was fine. I'm feeling okay today and haven't had any bleeding or anything, so I think he was right.

GTKY: What tradition are you most looking forward to with your new baby/babies?
I'm Jewish, so there won't be any Christmas traditions for these babies, but I am looking forward to celebrating other holidays with them. I'm also really excited for our bedtime rituals of story book reading and singing them to sleep.
  • How far along are you? 9+3 with twins

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? Nothing until the 23rd (3 long weeks).

Cravings? Now that I'm taking something for the nausea, everything! Pizza, cheesesteak hoagies, bread pudding, etc.

Rants/Raves? Rave: I've had my nausea under control today  :)! Rant: C-O-N-STIPATED.

    Questions? Nothing at the moment.

GTKY: What tradition are you most looking forward to with your new baby/babies? Family trips and bedtime stories.
  • @leilagphillips my neighbors lab did the same thing to me a few weeks ago and I was really concerned as well. Everything turned out to be fine though.

  • @grochril I am actually planning to ask my doctor at my appointment on Monday if I should take the calcium chews that I have from pre-pregnancy. I'll try and remember to let you know what he says.
  • @leilagphillips thanks so much!!
  • @grochril I would talk to your OB, or the nurse, about what they recommend for you. I take 5,000 IU of Vitamin D a day, along with a large Calcium pill that also has Vitamin D, because I have tested time and time again with low vitamin D levels. I also take 5mg of Folic Acid because I was born with a neural tube defect and I am sincerely hoping my child does not inherit my condition. Each supplement was suggested by either my RE or my OB specifically for me. I have seen a lot of women take a variety of different supplements, and I think the best course is to ask your doc what they think you need. They should know you best.

  • @grochril I've always taken vitamin D supplements and asked my OB about continuing to supplement vitamin D on top of the prenatals. (Even when I take this higher dose of vitamin D, my levels are on the low side of normal.) She was fine with it. I also take fish oil supplements and she was ok with that too. I second @txmomma16 on asking your doctor!

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? I had an ultrasound on Friday and it was great. Also went in for Harmony bloodwork this morning.

Cravings? The other night I was hit with a craving for pepperoni pizza, after weeks of aversion to red sauce. I had it for dinner and it was amazing.

Rants/Raves? I love that my food aversions are going away and food is becoming enjoyable again! I was able to put down two dinners last night. I'd had dinner at home already and then my best friend called and wanted to meet up- I changed out of my pajamas and went out and ate another full meal with dessert. I was blumpin' lol.

    Questions? Not at the moment.

GTKY: What tradition are you most looking forward to with your new baby/babies? My family wasn't very traditional, so I'm looking forward to creating new traditions with this little one.
  • So many twin mamas! Congrats ladies!

How far along are you? 11 weeks and 2 days

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go?
Not until next Monday. I'm super nervous. It feels like forever since I got to see the little pip and my pgal brain has been agonizing for the past few days. Also my doctor lost her father and will be burying him on Monday so I will have to see the very blunt male doctor which is adding to the anxiety. I don't begrudge my doctor missing the appointment at all. I've lost a parent and I know how completely devastated she must be. My heart is with her.
Cravings? When I can eat I pretty much want pasta with Kerry gold butter. Most of the time I live on apples, toast, and popsicles.

Rants/Raves? DH gets sulky because we used to stay up late and watch movies and hang out at night but now the latest I can handle is like 10. More often than not the dog and I go to bed around 8 or 9. I am no night owl while I'm pregnant.

    Questions?

GTKY: What tradition are you most looking forward to with your new baby/babies?
All the winter holiday traditions will be so much more special for sure. I feel pretty spoiled by the idea of December maternity leave. I am most looking forward to all of our fall and Halloween traditions. Also going out to the lake. I can't wait for this babe to be big enough to catch frogs and to fish with daddy and grandpa.
  • How far along are you? 11 weeks 6 days

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? I had an ultrasound on Monday and it went great. Baby was moving like crazy and I got to hear the heartbeat. Had my first appointment with my OB today and it went well. She told me in the nicest way possible that I was slightly overweight and need to watch what I eat. I already knew that one was coming.

Cravings? All the cheese and pasta. Which doesn't help with the whole weight thing!

Rants/Raves? I'm so freaking tired all the time. I have to nap when I get home from work if there is any hope of doing anything at night. But because I am so tired I also have no motivation to do anything. My house is turning into a disaster and badly needs a cleaning!

    No questions.

GTKY: What tradition are you most looking forward to with your new baby/babies? Summer holidays. My DH is from Newfoundland and I'm from Ontario (we currently live in Alberta) and I'm looking forward to bringing baby on our summer holidays there with us and seeing family, boating, swimming and camping!
  • @grochril I asked my doctor today about taking calcium chews and he said that they can cause constipation, which can then lead to other issues from straining, so he wasn't a huge advocate for them. But as others have mentioned, I'd check with your doctor too.
  • How far along are you? about 10 weeks

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? nothing.  twiddling thumbs right now.

Cravings? Nothing consistently.  They are more random right now.

Rants/Raves? It's getting harder to keep this secret.  I was with a group of people Sunday afternoon and was holding/playing with my friend's 6 month old.  Someone said, "aww, you want one of those," and it took everything in me to not respond, "I might be getting one of those!"

Questions? Anyone on progesterone? When is your doctor having you stop?

GTKY: What tradition are you most looking forward to with your new baby/babies? Like so many others, all the Christmas stuff - Christmas movies, Christmas stories, Christmas PJs, Christmas itself, Christmas cookies.  I was already so looking forward to celebrating this holiday, and having the baby's birthday during the season will make it extra special.

squeen1991 - I'm picking up Target gift cards every time I'm there.  That way we can start to "stash" the money aside, but I also still have time to make decisions about what to buy.  Also, because it's so early and I'm scared of jinxing anything, Target gift cards can be used for anything, not just baby stuff.
