  • I want to go buy some new bras. I'm filling out the cups more, and it's tighter all around, but I'm not sure if there's like a better or worse type of bra to get right now ? Or if I'm going to change sizes again?? Anyone have advice or recommendations?

@erindippity I would go to a maternity store and get measured and ask them what they think. I'm probably going to have to do that sometime soon. I go to Destination Maternity (Motherhood +The Pea in the Pod).

Question: I was reading one of my books I got from my baby 101 class and it said underwires  (if not fitted properly) could affect your milk ducts: is this true?

My father is in Dallas with me this weekend. We are going to my favorite steakhouse tonight!
  • @erindippity My go-to has been this Jockey bra (in multiple colors) that I got from Target. My cup size went up 2 sizes so far, and the band size also went up, though I'm having trouble keeping track of how much. I find this bra to be stretchy enough to not worry about having to buy new bras every other week, plus it's very comfy and works like a cami under low-cut shirts and dresses.

My son turns three tomorrow and today is his birthday party at a local bounce house place. I'm currently sitting in a huge waiting room at Urgent Care bc I think I have a UTI. I was hoping I could just leave a urine sample and get a call back if positive for UTI but no such luck :/ hoping to get out of here ASAP bc the party starts in 3 hrs

  • I ordered a bunch of comfy maternity/nursing clothes from Old Navy. They were scanned as delivered Tuesday and I was bummed that they were here. It was over $100 worth of merch so I filed a claim with Old Navy. Well last night I asked DH to just walk over to the neighbor to check. Sure enough they had it for 3 days and didn't walk it over (we live close, like 30 steps...) I was so irritated with them that they would do that. We get their packages sometimes and I never bring them in my house, I immediately take it to them.

Anyways, the ON maternity yoga pants and shorts are amazing. Their lounge pants are heaven!
  • @tova24 every LC I have consulted with said to avoid underwires. They are hella uncomfortable especially when you are full of milk
  • DH and I had our hospital tour this morning. Labor and delivery was full to the max so I was a bit disappointed when we weren't able to see a L&D or postpartum room. I did find out that literally everything is provided for baby and we will only need to bring our car seat and going home outfit! :)

I am going to an event for new and expectant moms this afternoon. Hopefully I'll score some nice freebies. I'm a sucker for free stuff!

  • @BlackNYellow free stuff is the best!
@tova24 Ive also heard about the no underwire thing, but Im super concerned about that.  I have a huge chest, and never feel comfortable in bras that dont have the wire.

  • @tova24 I didn't wear underwires in the beginning (I think the first week or so I wore sleep bras.) After I knew my size was staying steady, I bought a few extra nursing bras, some with underwire. I never once had a clogged duct, and I nursed 21 months. That being said, if you still don't feel comfortable, just buy one for special occasions. I always enjoyed wearing a nice bra with underwire out on s date!
  • @erindippity Soma vanishing back bras are awesome for pregnancy because the band has more stretch and can "grow" with your rib cage some. Highly recommend.

@tova24 yes, they say to avoid underwire nursing bras. I didn't wear anything with an underwire until done nursing DD (at 21 months). I've heard a lot of negative comments about Motherhood Maternity bras being uncomfortable so be aware of that.

@OTmom3 oh no! Hopefully you got out of there in time and didn't have to miss any of his party.

    AFM:
DD drenched her car seat yesterday after she passed out running errands. Yesterday was spent taking the car seat all apart and cleaning it. Then this morning was spent reassembling it all and reinstalling in the car. DH took apart a couple of old appliances so we could load them and take to the free disposal of them in town. Tomorrow is church and then we have a Neil Diamond concert tomorrow night. I got DH the tickets for his Christmas present.

@erindippity @tova24 My solution has been stretchy sports bras for most of this pregnancy. I have one regular bra in a bigger size (cup & band) in case I need a real bra.

I've bought at least 5 bras from MM, which were all so uncomfortable. I do not recommend their nursing bras. Also, forget the underwire. Target & Kohls have pretty good quality nursing bras that aren't too expensive.
  • I cleaned my parents house today, and now my body feels like it's falling apart. They're older, and my mom just had surgery, so I try to get over there weekly to clean. It's just getting harder the further along I get into this pregnancy.

Now that I've had food and a nap, DH & I need to go grocery shopping. We'll take DD with us, but the boys are old enough to stay home together & play video games (or whatever) while we are gone.
  • @PinkPrincessPiper the thought of wearing a sports bra seriously makes my boobs hurt. Lol. Maybe since I've always been smaller chested but I've always found them to smash my girls more and man are my boobs sore now without that. Also, stop being so ambitious and take it easy some! Don't send yourself into preterm labor!

  • @tova24 I hated all my nursing bras from Target (and I bought several.) one fell apart quickly. Two made my boobs look like giant blobs. The sleeping ones from there made my next itch from the elastic.
  • I want to go buy some new bras. I'm filling out the cups more, and it's tighter all around, but I'm not sure if there's like a better or worse type of bra to get right now ? Or if I'm going to change sizes again?? Anyone have advice or recommendations?
At this point in my pregnancy I go straight to nursing bras. I buy one cup bigger than I need for extra space when my milk comes in.
  • @bumpybump I'm definitely busty (currently a D), so a good, stretchy sports bra is actually really comfy for me.

I think I'm holding off on the grocery until tomorrow. My body is refusing to get back out of bed.  :#
  • I lived in the Target Gilligan & O'Malley nursing tanks after having DS and plan to do the same this time around. I have a couple nursing bras, but I probably won't wear them because the tanks are too comfy.

  • We are waiting on DS to wake up and then heading to a big street festival for Armed Forces day. It's 90 degrees out and last year they had 35,000 people show up, so part of me is really dreading it, but hopefully we have fun.
  • Spent the day running errands and DH went to a brewery with some friends. Made some cookies and buffalo chicken dip before I relax for a short time to watch the Preakness Stakes! Got some bets made - hoping to win some! Playing games with friends tonight. Tomorrow making coffee cake for breakfast before dealing with the plumber.

@erindippity I bought a few maternity bras from Bravado Designs and am happy with them.

Flew into San Diego earlier today. I have to work here next week. DH came with me and we're currently driving to Los Angeles to have dinner with friends and go on a hike tomorrow morning.
  • I just bought new slip on sandals and am getting a pedicure. It's too inconvenient to bend that far forward anymore

  • @SpotConlon I feel you on having a hard time bending to paint my toenails. Last time I tried, it was really hard and DH even tried to help paint. Let's just say he's not talented in that aspect and I'll be getting going somewhere to get pedicures for the remainder of this pregnancy!

  • DS turns 2 tomorrow, so this weekend is spent celebrating that! I had my mommy group over yesterday morning for a birthday party,  then we had a wedding to go to, so he spent the night at my parents and they took him to a small local circus.  Today, my sister, brother,  and SIL, and my parents came and we took him to a museum in Philly called the Please Touch Museum.... highly recommended if you are local!  Tomorrow we are off to Sesame Place. Can't believe my baby is gonna be two! Time flies so fast.

@SpotConlon it's a lot easier to pay someone to cut your toe nails than do it yourself. At first I tried, but after struggling for 30 minutes and breaking a sweat,  I figured that throwing money at the problem was a lot easier!
  • Today was definitely a train wreck. I woke up at 4 because we were going to give ourselves 2 hrs to get to the next town over (only 45 minutes away) because the roads had been closed for 36 hrs and we worried about them closing again forcing us to take the long way around. Luckily that didn't happen so I got to partially go back to sleep for another hour since the roads were fine. Get to the town over for my CNA test, half an hour earlier than I need to check in. Check in was at 7:30. Waited until 9 before the group of us left because the evaluator never showed for a $100 prepaid test. Of course the company is only open M-F so we couldn't get ahold of anyone!
Then, this afternoon, my brother ran over one of my dogs. Luckily she's fine just bruised and sore. The vet said if there wasn't still ~18 inches of snow + mud on the ground we'd be looking at probably the worst. To top it off, my mom downplayed it like no big deal we have to pay an emergency vet fee plus X-rays plus 2 medications to make her comfortable. And didn't even offer to help cover the costs!
sorry for the long post. My pregnancy brain can't handle this many stressful events in one day so I've basically been a wreck. Sigh. Tomorrow should be better, fingers crossed.
  • @mrsashworth522 What an awful day! I hope your Sunday is much better.

There was a Pure Barre Pop-up class at a local brewery. After the workout everyone got a sample of beer and guess who had to skip the sample part? Me! Ugh. So after a sweaty workout in the heat they got to cool down and all I got was water. Whatever.
